Round 1 = 11 x DGR

ST x 8
player 9, 10 , 11 are Stars/Strikers on the DGR

Bench can be 5 x BH

Round 2 = 11 x DGR

ST x 8
Trade player 9, 10 , 11T - > 3 x PS

Bench as per Round 1

Round 3 = 8 x DGR

Trade 3 x ST - > 3 x BH

= 8 x BH + 3 PS (from Round 2)

Bench is 5 x ST

I think is one way how to do it

@Diabolical will have it all mapped out to Round 13
Keep going, you’re doing well so far.

Only thing is that you could replace a couple of the Heat players on the bench with Sixers or Renegades to still be on track in R5. You could also start up to 3 Scorchers in R1 and trade in less or none in R2.

Are we giving any thought to which Scorchers we want Round 2 or will we just go in blind ?

If we want all 5 of Agar , Inglis , Marsh , Richardson , Tye for example we probably need to start at least 2 on the bench.

Are we happy to trade Rashid Round 2 or hold ? (determines how we get Scorchers)

Plenty of ways to get them without trading Rashid.

Are we happy to start a Heat on the bench to get "ready" for Round 3.

Are we holding Stoinis & Zampa on the bench Round 2 ?

Do we try the Davies/Larkin/Webster as a E look Round 1 ?

Starting a donut ?

My worry is that once the competition starts , rounds come so thick and fast , we may not get enough answers in between rounds to maybe make the "best" decisions for this time + trying to focus on our teams etc etc

Great concept though , hopefully we get some input from some of the many consistent Top 500 coaches lurking on here and get a insight on how they think.

Until we know the Thunder's replacement for Willey (and cost) it is hard to do anything.

Could easily make a case for starting any/all of Cutting , Gilkes , Green , Hales , McAndrew , Rossouw , Sams , J Sangha at the moment.

Add in the likes of Rashid , Stoinis & Zampa and that's XI already.

Problem with that though is if you want to hold R , S & Z for Round 2 we end up with no one to trade out 😀

So will need to fit in some high priced options like Boult , Clarke , Short etc etc (especially if we know what Scorchers we want Round 2)

Anyway looks like only 13 people have voted , the amount of traffic in the main thread , hopefully we get a lot more.
I'm purposely allowing some flexibility in team structure, so it will be up to everyone's individual thoughts as to the bench, including donuts, Scorchers etc.

Once the tournament starts, I'll likely open up discussions on proposed trades / captains etc at the start of the round, rather than after any individual round to enable time to make these decisions.

The one thing we might not easily get consensus on will be whether to loop in a VC score or not mid round when the C plays immediately after due to a lack of time. I'm thinking we might need to set it up where any VC score of X or higher automatically gets used as the C score if possible (assuming we have loop possibilities).

This starting team we are slowly putting together won't be locked in initially, I'm hoping to have a week or two where people can discuss changes etc, as I doubt we'll get it right straight up.

One option - which I think would be sensible independent of its impact in this case - would be to use the average, rather than the most popular, response.

For example 3 is currently leading, but noone thinks it should be less, and a high percentage of people think it should be more, potentially much more. Calculating an average would account for this.

I like it. If we vote on what X is, that’s still very consistent with the spirit of the idea. You can always open it up if you see fit/if time permits.

Or the mean of our votes. Currently 14 votes into 72 total = 5.14

lol still can't work it out for the entire competition , might have to try it myself one day , your post that the side maximising DGR'S still came about 150th was extremely interesting.

Knew their would be a number of combinations , I guess the key is trading them out ASAP so you don't get caught in SGR.

8 starting Thunder still would be interesting , given how many of them are so cheap

All good , interested to see how it all pans out.

Think Super Coach Talk have run a similar thing for the AFL in the past , but the biggest advantage is they have time between the rounds to have discussions and make decisions.

Thinks could be very tight with Big Bash but it is what it is.

Hardest thing is trying to think generally and not specifically about my own starting team and strategies I have thought about.

Example as for my own starting structure a lot revovles around :-

4 starting ST
Rashid , Stoinis , Webster , Zampa (all who won't be traded out Round 2)
9 , 10 , 11 Stars/Strikers combo who will be traded out

Currently have $5k to play but will have Agar , Inglis , Marsh , Richardson & Tye all in Round 2.

I need to find a $ 75-90k starting bench player guaranteed to play Round 2 otherwise I may have to field Nielsen instead 😱

Oh and of course if Willey's replacement is a must have it will be completely back to the drawing board.

I see 6 Thunder players came out on top in the poll.

What is the plan from here?
Next poll will be to decide the breakdown of the other 5 DGR in the starting squad, then I'll start asking for player selections once we figure that out. I need someone from the leadership group to create the poll though, @Connoisseur has been doing a great job of it so far. (Thanks again).

I can potentially help with that. Is it the same question, but perhaps subbing in the Strikers? Any other tweaks?

great work fellas .I went 6 also but when one looks at the bowler/batsman breakdown it could be one too many There appear to be better batsman than bowlers .I have 4 batsman plus Gilkie and only iffy Green as a bowler .Does McAndrew cut it or is Roussoux a better choice Lots of conundrums still in place Cheers lads NDD

It is looking pretty unanimous so far what the preferred option is. I might call this poll off early, I'll see how numbers are looking tonight before deciding.

Pretty clear preference in that poll.

The next step will be putting together a team. This will consist of 6 × Thunder players, 2 x Strikers, 3 x Stars, with the other 5 being players from the other 5 clubs.

I'll provide more details later tonight, but for now you may want to start thinking to yourself of the team you'd choose with this structure.

Now we get to the fun part. We need to decide on the starting team. I will be asking for a team from everyone which meets the following requirements:
  • 6 x Sydney Thunder players
  • 3 x Melbourne Stars players
  • 2 x Adelaide Strikers players
  • 5 x players from any club for the bench
  • Maximum budget of $2M.
The most popular selections across all entries will make the final team. I'll accept your teams for a week or so, and release the final side next Saturday night or Sunday. If the team of the most popular selections exceeds the budget, priority will be given to including the most popular on field players, then filling the bench as best as we can.

You don't need to name a C/VC/Emergencies etc, we will sort them out later once the final team is selected. There will also be opportunities to tweak this side then if people are not happy with the final side we come up with.

I'm expecting at least half the final side will consist of players that are in pretty much every side. I am expecting a bit of variety in bench selections especially, but it will be interesting to see what you can come up with.

Don't be swayed by what others are picking, pick who YOU want to see make the team (meeting the agreed structure of Rd 1 DGR players of course). This will work just as well if there is a variety of choices as it will with people copying other teams.

As an example entry, my entry is as follows (colour coding not needed in your entries, just using it to help identify the various sides):

Nielsen
Sams, Hales, Rossouw, Ross, Stoinis
Khan, Green, Farooqi, Zampa, Coulter-Nile

Bench:
Inglis
Salt
, Neser
Tye, Renshaw

Remaining cash: $103,600

There are a few different picks there to what the majority will select, I know. I tried to keep a side which will allow for the most double game scores in coming rounds, possibly at the expense of some good players on singles while still meeting the agreed starting structure.

Looking forward to what everyone else comes up with. I have done almost zero research this year, so I fully expect you can come up with much better.

Let me know if you have any queries.

Thanks.
