Take 2.

If Sams doesnt start just flip to thunder batter,

If Davies doesnt fire up in the first game will bring lynn in on the double.

Is Green from the thunder a certain starter each week.?
T Sangha is out for the season I believe and definitely for round 1. Care leaving Brown as your loop just incase the heat are insane and play him. Otherwise kinda similar to mine and therefore I like it. :)

Hardie launching the season for the Scorchers is a fairly good indication of his JS.

It’s just the role that’s the question though. Those who are looking at picking him, what’s your expectation of where he bats and how many overs on average he bowls?
I dont see how hes anything other than batting 6 and their 6th bowler that bowls 1 or 2 a game max, isn't exactly screaming consistent output to me, don't really see how he bats any higher when there is still going to be Faf,Roy/Banton,Bancroft,Inglis and Turner, one I'm pretty happy to fade personally when theres so many other good options that aren't much more expensive.

From memory, i think he has batted up the order once or twice before? Could we see him directly replace Marsh at #3? After what perth said about a bigger role with the bat, this could happen, will need to monitor the practice matches

Has played plenty of Cricket for WA without Marsh available under the same coach and has never batted up the order find it hard to believe hes going to suddenly come out and bat top 4, even when he was injured and playing as a batsman he still batted down the order for WA, just don't see this great improvement in role happening but happy to be proven wrong.

This is pretty much how I see it happening too. Although the top 4 could be in any order really. Also think that Mills plays and perhaps it’s Dorff who misses when Hatz plays.

I agree that it’s most likely that Hardie slots in at 6 with five bowlers behind him and in that scenario he likely bowls around 2 overs per game. Not an attractive prospect if that’s the case.

It’s a high ceiling, low floor type of role. Wouldn’t trust him on a sgw but on a dgw where he’s likely to get 3 opportunities, more than likely 4 to score, at under 100k. In addition he’s a good fielder. The dual is handy as well.

Marsh bowled plenty of overs last year as the 6th bowler, Turner wasn’t afraid to have the big guns lose overs. They are also well established, so if the game is won early I can see Hardie getting extra overs.

Hardie finally might get the opportunity to actually show how good he is.

Good judges have him playing for Australia in the next 12-18 months (if not sooner) , I am a bad judge but potentially have him as being Player of the BBL.

Ideal linkage with Agar & Connolly so could be that perfect bench playing swingman , especially if they do manage Richardson.

Just need to weigh him up against the likes of Hosein , Mujeeb , Neser , Swepson etc + Bat only players (similar price) and see how he fits into people's structures.

What works for some doesn't work for others.

Only have to look back to last season and guys like Kerr , Rogers , M Short to see what happens when you get the opportunity.

I just dont think hes getting the opportunity, isnt going to be one of their main bowlers or batsman, you're paying 100k to hope the game falls his way, 9 times out of 10 it's not going to happen.
He is in the XI now , that's the first hurdle overcome.

Bison is a huge loss , so the opportunity is certainly there.

No Munro & Evans as well , on paper their batting line-up looks weakened.

Patterson left.

Obviously du Plessis makes a huge difference at the top of the order , 38 now , does he have the same drive/hunger as to when he was playing International cricket ?

Confirmation of their new OS would be nice.

Willing to back him in and see what happens , if it doesn't work I will just trade him out.

Reward far outweighs the risk in my opinion

Obviously different conditions , pitches & standard du Plessis passed 20 8 times (from 16 Innings) for RCB in IPL 2022.

96 , 88 & 73* past 50

Like any T20 top order bat though can be up and down.

BBL 11

Patterson 391 runs
Munro 390 runs
Evans 361 runs
Turner 357 runs
Marsh 347 runs

4 of their Top 5 runscorers from last season are missing

Completely new look batting line-up for BBL 12 , opportunities present
Opportunities present but theyve either signed sufficient replacements or have guys already in their squad to use before Hardie.

Patterson- Du Plessis
Munro- Roy/Banton
Marsh-Inglis
Evans-Bancroft/Hobson
Turner keeps his spot at 5

Just don't really see the benefit there.

Fair enough , I like him , you obviously don't.

Certainly think he is a better prospect than Bancroft or Hobson but again that's just my personal opinion

Definitely hoping Inglis returns to form this season.

This is where the chat about Hardie moving up the order has come from.

HP GM Kade Harvey on Hardie
"We think Aaron Hardie could play a bigger role with the bat, so that’s always been in the back of our minds."

I can see them lining up something like this

Inglis, Banton/Roy, Faf, Hardie, Turner, Hobson

Surely Bancroft gets a spot? but where does he fit in. maybe opens till an overseas signing arrives.

or this I think they are struggling to get a top order batman replacement like a Roy/Banton and might have to settle for an All-rounder who bats at 6 hence the chat of Hardie moving up the order maybe and would like up like this

Inglis, Bancroft, Faf, Hardie, Turner, New signing
