Yep - very happy with our trading & drafting this year, first time in a long time.

Hewett played a lot for the senior Swan Districts side in the WAFL last season also, he is used to playing against men/ hardened bodies so it is a real possibility that Chesser,Ginbey & Hewett could be in the best 22 round 1.
Ginbey's preferred destination was Freo, so it'll be interesting to see if he stays at the Eagles, another Dunsborough boy, hope he goes ok.

Couple of things

Freo had no first round picks so he knew he had no chance of going there.

He was thrilled he could stay in his home state.

Hewett & him are mates, played a lot of state footy together so very happy they are at the same club.

Yeo was a Freo supporter as a kid, he was quickly converted 😉😜

He'll definitely be happy he gets to stay based in W.A, whether or not he will be happy at the Eagles remains to be seen, that'll probably depend on how they go in the next few years. The Weagles definitely need the midfielders, Freo not so much so he'll probs settle nicely there if he slots into a regular role.

It‘s not totally useless. You just need a 3 player swing set rather than a 2 player. For example with a MID/FWD and a FWD/RUC and you can do the triangulation.
It's not good for ruck coverage for a week or two if your main ruckman goes down e.g. English if you don't have a rookie Mid/ruck to swing Blicavz into the ruck for coverage.

You can if you have have a FWD/MID in the forward line as well.

Swing Blicavs from MID to RUC.
Swing English from RUC to FWD (bench).
Swing FWD/MID from FWD to MID.

I know you can move players as you explained but I'm talking about using Blicavz Mid/ruck position for coverage in your ruck for a short term injury (1-2 weeks) which can't be done with his M/R position unless you have another M/R to swap him with (rookie). I'm not talking about moving him by trading or moving a ruck forward e.g. Cameron/Jackson in 2023. The bottom line is for Blicavz to be a real consideration for me as a Mid/ruck I'd need to have a rookie Mid/ruck that I can loop him with for ruck coverage.

You'd only really have him in there if you believed Blicavs was worth starting and trade-wise it'd only be a one time deal, he's not there as a swap out, he's there as either a keeper, and or one time trade if he gets injured.

Based on his form last season I was actually contemplating having him as a 6th defender keeper (as he was Def/Ruck last year and they had a Carlton Def/Ruck rookie as a link option) and use him as my back up ruckman for short term coverage if one of my rudiment missed. 1-2 weeks. I'd consider starting him s a mid in 2023 with the view of him being a keeper (8th mid season end) to provide coverage in my rucks short term but that isn't an option unless they have another Mid/ruck to loop him with?

Really doubt that Brodie will be anything but a Mid only.

How many Ruck/Forwards do you all think will be available for selection next season?

Not too many to start. Cameron probably best option to start up forward as coverage as he should play number 1 ruck for pies but I think most of us will be hoping maybe Gawn becomes a R/F during the season with his possible new role. I think Gawn will play more behind the ball than up forward and leave Grundy to play 60/40 ruck.
