In the early rounds imho a nuff is baggage Getting sids for boult got me Hardie for Connolly but hey it;s a personal call good luck Brendan
I can see both sides of the argument, but personally while people have basically locked themselves into using a trade to bring in the loop I'll be getting an extra DGW player either for that round or for a future round or jumping on a random opportunity that presents itself that others may be forced to miss.

Can't remember the best way to pick VC.

I'm looking at Sams, Hales, Stoinis.

High Ceilings

If Stoinis was opening that would probably steer me. But should it be a player from the batting first squad? eg, Hales, or
Sams, as he'll have something to bowl at??

Think this is the happiest I'm going to be with. Normally my benches are much cheaper as I wanna get my value on the field but with this season being so undecided and so much value for cheap I have shifted to more value on the bench as a security measure. Agar and Tye are my two certains for the scorchers so I feel most safe with them and am happy to sacrifice value for R1 to avoid issues in R2 and 3. Hosein is my pick to potentially gain an extra for round 5 where i think he will be more expensive whilst having no byes and can sit as extra protection against the random weather/injury if need be.
- I'm not happy with Gilkes but think he for price and 4 goes at it for R1+2 is worthwhile and given my bench cover can be benched or moved on next round with relative ease if required.
- Would prefer to move Wood at to Bat and have Farooqi over Rossouw but there are issues with this; 1. Stu*** up my loop where Hosein can cover with CDG swithcing with connolly, 2. Rossouw has better JS 3. Rossouw, Hales, Gilkes are my only true batters which are less consistent but missing rossouw if he gets a big score in any of the 4 innings will be fairly devastating for R1+2
- I have really tried to target as many overs as possible as probably indicated by my preference of bowlers.
- Wood is my key POD for R1 where he is a worse bowler than Boult HOWEVER has been indicated to bowl at better times, should have a better chance of swinging the bat and is 75K cheaper with DPP.
- 55K is spare but there isnt any change I like where I could use the money to upgrade, Stoinis and Zampa have been in my team through the 4000 variations, Wood I like, green is the only guaratee for ST, CDG should have an excellent role and I cant upgrade rossouw to M short or Sangha and Gilkes/inglis cant become Billings or Phillipe so.
Any thoughts are appreciated, especially any holes or disagreements the more perspectives the better.
Gone CDG -> Farooqi (Think Farooqi will have better bowling role of death overs, should have better matchups of team and I am more confident with him. Only didn't pick this over fears of Qadirs impact which is now negligible for R1 at least.

Correct, high ceilings the key.

Generally you want someone who is doing their main discipline in the first innings (with some exceptions).

I'm content to pontentially lose a few points in Round 1 if the o***et is being better prepared than most people for Round 2 and 3, will only know whats the best way to have gone with the benefit of hindsight, just think a few of these 100K odd options are very undervalued so I'm happy enough to back a few of them in and carry the Scorchers through for Round 2 with the extra cash.

I agree in the sense, that it is OK to take a risk in R1 given we are not 100% clear on how teams will line up and individual roles. That information will become clearer and will help trades as the season goes on. Unlike AFL, fielding just 11 players and with at least 3 trades each round, a poor start is not the end of the world.

When it comes to emergency players. Say one of my BAT in my starting 11 doesn't play and I have WKP BAT in the Wicketkeeper position as a emergency can he be a valid emergency for the BAT?

Its a game at the end of the day, not going to lose a great deal of sleep if it doesn't work out.

I was about 5k, but that was over 500 points behind the leader after one round! Similar in the Sportsdeck IPL this year, much lower numbers, but I was over 500 points behind after the first round and got into 9th.

Hmm, I am detecting a trend of poor starts here :ROFLMAO:

I remember my first round being pretty horrendous too and I came back to third. Maybe we should just forget about round 1!
