would be curious to see if they will go to the market for a bison replacement i.e bat who can chip in with the occasional few overs rather than a specialist quick with morris/kelly still in the wings

Same role as Dorf, really don’t think he fits scorchers
Backup

Give Kelly (or Morris) 14 games.

Still think Hatzoglou plays more often than people think.

Their next OS is their 7th and last for the season so they certainly want someone available for the whole season.

I guess it depends on how much a role they realistically expect Connolly/Hobson to play as the backup bats.

Probably a few county cricketers playing Grade cricket around the country.

Depending on Test bowling loads , Green might not be available , 1st Indian Test is Feb 9 , he might be sent to the Maldives with the pace cartel before the tour starts

LPL ends 23rd , some reasonable OS playing in that

I don’t own a third keeper either, but made the decision that I’d most likely bench Gilkes in round 2 rather than pick someone purely so I get Gilkes x 2 over a potential sgw.

I want to have a bunch of gun scorchers not just for the double but the rounds and matchups following. I don’t see how that attack doesn’t take at least 8 wickets vs stars in week 3. I’ll have 4 of the big dogs - Faf, Richo, Tye, Agar and then Inglis with Hardie a potential option if price changes go my way.
Yeah I’ve had Billings there for a few days, it’s like this for me now

Take Billings to cover Gilkes this round, or just suck up the Gilkes score and have Tye for next week

Moved out Billings and Mujeeb, got in Tye and Swepson. Keeps the DGR’s at the same number next week, still banks a Heat player. Just means I’m banking on Gilkes coming good this round rather than Rossouw

For those with Gilkes as WKP Emg, what are your plans?

Ride him out or bring in a Philippe, Billings or Wade and back them to outscore him from a single game?
Am fading Gilkes scores, as now it looks like it’s a SGR for him with a zero in game one. Out of Philippe, billings and Wade, I am going with Wade, reason being, he’s not going to lose cash with that price and I have 38K in the bank to be used to bring in expensive Perth guys in the next round. If someone has better suggestions to bring in billings/Phillipe, happy to hear.

I dont think a great deal changes they'll just play Kelly who is quality in his own right until they can figure out a replacement for Mills, good chance they play Eskinazi in the mean time as the 3rd international over a mediocre Bancroft though.

1. Take Billings and have Gilkes DGR next week

2. Have to suck up Gilkes this week, but Tye DGR next week ?
One less quality Scorchers bowler that I want to own makes me lean more towards Billings now, would be able to still carry Faf and have 3 trades for Tye,Agar and Richardson which would be tight but achievable.

Im starting Lyth and Inglis at this point, so really comes down to whether I want 3/4 the big Perth guns next week, or all 4. And also whether Billings covering Gilkes is worth it

Id be 20K short if I picked Billings from being able to have all 4 actually, and that's assuming Siddle and Short maintain their price, think I'm going to just take Gilkes score after running the numbers
Im leaning that way too. When it comes down to it, think rather just hope Gilkes matches Billings now(effectively an SGR scenario) and then have Tye next week rather than Gilkes

Im content to be lighter on Heat players so banking Billings doesnt really feel essential, especially if Neser is with the test squad and Renshaw is touch and go with the birth of his child, might only want to own Munro,Billings and Steketee in the end anyway.

Swepson on a double sounds pretty good to me.

I'm taking a bit of a risk here. Fading Matt Short and Inglis. McDermott comes in as keeper 31% owned, Bancroft replaces Lyth on my bench, Hose replaces Short.

Been on-board with Short, can't justify a bat fail at his price, although he may get an over or 2.
