feel like finch has always rated Sutherland, regardless of what his role was. Bloke was playing a lot and would often be thrown into the deep end when finch was captain and not a whole lot when Christian took over I remember . Mcgurk still

The extra problem nowdays is the concussion substitute rule in test cricket. It's no longer a matter of non selection, and giving a player a good chance to get some match play. They have to be around just in case.

I feel as though it would be silly to not run 2 of their bowlers, just start one of the others and trade Richo in imo.

Interestingly, the quotes are from Hardie, not the coach. And he just says that Jhye trained centre wicket and that he would be reasy to go IF selected. Hardie also says the decision hasn’t been made yet. Makes me think he’ll probably start the first game (still a chance he’s held back a game or two), but maybe likely to be rested even as early as the second game?

Always hard to know with Jhye, so I think i’d still be cautious selecting him from round 1.
