Wood, Stoinis, Hales

Need to play 2.

Bit wary of 1 trick ponies where that trick is just batting, so leaning towards Stoinis and Wood, Stoinis has been out of form, but is surely due? Hales despite his last two scores has looked stractchy and not sure I like him against Neser, Steketee etc?
One thing I noticed in looking at Hales’ stats is that he hasn’t been dismissed by Neser in T20s. They may not have matched up much, but I expect they would have played each other several times. Neser is in very good form, but he doesn’t seem to be a concerning matchup based on history.

Is anyone anticipating any impactful role changes when many of the internationals leave, and/or when the Test players become available?

Without having all the squads in front of me, the first question I'd be asking is who becomes the #1 spinner at the Gades. Huge vacancy opening up there.

Great shout.

Looks like Rocchicioli or Kellapotha from what I can see. Both 42k. Rocchicioli was supposedly close to playing last match, which may indicate he’s first choice, but they do spin the ball opposite ways so it may depend on matchups.

Kellapotha is classified as OS though

Couple of questions for those watching closely…

I don’t own Matt Short, Shadab Khan, or Jhye Richardson… I can get the first 2 in this round, but need a cheapie to make it happen. I don’t have Stoinis either so he’s on my radar.

How would you rank the above “premos”?
Is Stoinis worth getting?
Am I missing any other obvious candidates (dwarsh, Wade this week?)

I think Short is a must.. valuable in SGR and a double on the horizon. He’s a priority trade for me this week.
Shadab won’t be here for his double so that opens the door to fade him, he has good SGR scoring potential but he isn’t essential now that his main benefit is gone.
JRicho is a stud, especially as Optus Stadium. His next game is at Marvel where he’s played twice with score of 75 and 177. Then back to back games at Optus. Would be a nervous few games if you don’t have him!
Stoinis is by no means a must have, and I wouldn’t get him if he’d be on field. Loop only till he finds form, but <$60k for a guy that is bowling 4 and batting at 5 is a steal. It’s basically the Sams role but not the death overs.. and law of averages says he turns it around at some stage. I got him this week as it freed up a stack of coin that will help me get Short.
Dwarsh was amazing, but with talk of rotating Sixers bowlers I would probably steer clear. Can grab him at their double if needed, but given then have a bye straight after you don’t want to be too stocked on Sixers.
Wade is my other trade target this week. Good form, usually gets some points from keeping too which lifts his floor. Think he’s a good price and getting him in preparation for their double makes sense.

If you could get Short and JRicho by also getting Stonis I’d do it. Otherwise I would probably get JRicho and Wade, and hope that short has a low enough game that he comes down in price a tad.

If you had Inglis and Philippe but could only choose one. Who would you go with?

I've been through my leagues and most of you who have both have gone Philippe over Inglis, unless you're fielding both. If one, most have Philippe over Inglis.

So the majority are playing Philippe.

Philippe has the Heat at the Gabba
Inglis has the Gades.

Philippe opens, against Steketee and Neser
Faf, and Lyth opening against Gades, I don't rate Gades bowling as much as Neser and Steks. I do think Neser and Steks have been a little unlucky with their wickets.

Inglis def POD, but if he fails I fall back even more. If Philippe fails, I won't lose against the mob.

I'm really wanting Inglis, but head is saying stick with the pack.

What's your thoughts?

I think its a true definition of a 50/50. From the top 1% stats (somehow allows me access on my PC even tho I don't have SC gold), 424 are starting Inglis and 421 are starting Phillipe (of course there may be loops involved), so its not like there is any pack to follow. Me personally am playing Inglis as I'm using Phillipe as backup if Kerr misses but I generally think its a coin-flip play and hope you end on the right side. My best guess is Phillipe, traditionally Marvel has not been as easy ground to bat on

One game at Marvel this season and Gades had a successful run chase chasing 174 against the Thunder

I’m erring on Inglis because he looks better to the eye test. I agree that it’s a close one though.

Edit: maybe watch the bat flip result. If Renegades bat first and you think there’s a decent chance that Perth run through them, that may impede Inglis’ opportunity if the openers score well. Lyth has been poor though. Also note that Inglis scores well batting first and second, so it’s more about the potential course of this match than a historical difference.
