I’m happy with Philippe and Mujeeb as outs.

Handscomb or maybe Connolly as the third makes sense to me - whoever we think is more likely to get a game should probably go?

Ins look like Hardie, Bancroft and Thornton by a margin, based on the poll.

I would be inclined to just do the trades when we are ready, rather than doing them game by game. The trade updates are handy for optimizing for any new info later, and it allows us to better see how it all looks.

I agree re Short as VC. His ceiling could be 300 or more across the double, I don’t think it makes sense to waver from him, unless we’ve missed something really important!
Advantage of keeping Connolly is can easily swing Agar & Hardie between lines if required.

Good point.

I’m just a bit wary of donuts that aren’t really donuts … I got stitched up by the X factor with Josh Kann last year!

Handscomb could take someone else’s spot I suppose, but after Harper’s last innings, I suspect the keeping role is sewn up for a while at least.

Should be able to hold Connolly on the bench this round (even if he plays , Hobson might miss out for Agar or one of the quicks at the Showgrounds)

My only concerns are:

3/4 from the the Scorchers batting, and two of those (Hardie and Bancroft) only have batting to score (unless Hardie bowls but don’t how likely that is?)

Will we be able to get everyone we want for the SGRs? Marnus is $204k, Usman $155k, Head $125k, Carey $121k, Sams $168k, plus JRicho when he’s back is $213k.

We can also only get 3 unless we use our last boost, and then it’s still only 4. It might be worth us working out what next weeks team will look like, and if we have glaring weaknesses by fielding some weaker SGR players. If so, we might do better going Bancroft to a strong SGR option, and gain out advantage from teams potentially not being as strong the next few weeks.
As we saw this round, only takes 1-2 injuries and you can be boxed into a corner with some less ideal options on field, or not having a full squad. Less if a risk of the second part with no byes, but still worth considering.

Be interesting to see if coaches were able to bring in the likes of Khawaja/Labuschagne/Warner "early" this round and still maintain a strong DGR side.

We should be working out our preferred SGR premiums for Round 13 (HH on the double , PS on the Bye) and then working backwards.

Round 12 BH & PS (own 5 + Connolly) on the DGR.

3-4 BH as well doesn't leave much room , timing on when to bring them in.

Juggling act again in Round 10-12 as to who we can use to trade out.

Did we want to make any changes to the side above? It sounds like there's some concerns we are too deep on Scorchers.

I think all rounders score better in general, so of those named as possible ins from the test side, Marnus seems the stand out. Hardie to Marnus maybe? We can afford it (just).

Can wait and see scores from tonight if this one appeals, or any other trade not involving the two teams playing tonight.

Happy to keep the side as is too if that's the preference.

Yep. Double up on Agars?
I am inclined to just go with the poll results, unless there’s a good reason (eg new info on selection/role/fitness, or interdependence of the selections not being reflected by the most popular players in the poll, a brilliant new idea posted that we may not have considered pre-poll). I’m catching up on newsflow, but I am not sure I’ve seen that yet.

As it happens I’ve picked Dorf myself. I think he would be next man in based on the poll. I don’t think he’s overwhelmingly compelling, but am happy with him in current form and with two doubles to come.

We still need to make at least one more trade by reversing DC to a playing bowler. We can also trade Bancroft/Hardie if there's any concerns with them. We can bring in anyone from the Scorchers, Heat or Thunder. Heat and Scorchers both have a Rd 12 double (Scorchers this round too obviously), Thunder have all singles from here. Scorchers also have a bye in Rd 13.
