Sorry been out of the loop the last few days.

Did we make a decision on how many DGR players we want for Round 12 & 13 as that will make it easier as to who we bring in ?

Assuming we are planning to keep our existing playing BH , HH & PS + Abbott & Short that leaves us 5 options to trade out in the next 2 rounds.

Lynn has finished so he makes 1 trade out.

Connolly (if not playing next round) still works as a donut for Round 11.

Might need to trade 2 of Carey , Head & Kerr out.

Possibly need a low BE player (similar to a Harper , Hatcher , Henriques type going into this round) for a quick cash grab then trade out again next round.

Cash might be a concern when trying to look at players to bring in.

No set decision on number of DGR's. Likely going to need as many scores as possible from here out. Doubt it'll be enough no matter what.

Don't mind one cash grab if needed (thought we could do with it this round), only as cash might get tight, but prefer all incoming players to be on doubles, or absolute minimum guaranteed gun single game players.

Good to see you around again. Going to need all the help we can get to get out of this mess...

Might need a short list of preferred Heat & Hurricane players then and their prices & BE and see who is realistic we can get.

Think Carey , Head & Kerr are all projected to lose money.

At least Lynn is $ 167,200.00

5 players to trade out in the next 2 rounds , unless we trade out Short to generate money (probably not preferred) , Abbott (probably needs to be onfield 12 & 13) or if we trade out one of existing BH/HH/PS

Cash grab player is essentially to get hopefully $ 25k in the Bank and then to be used to trade out again in Round 12.

Neser $ 136,800.00 BE 91 seems the obvious Heat one to target either this round or next.

No one else seems to have any consistency at all.

Johnson $ 58k does he hold his spot for both games of the DGR though.

Brown or Kuhnemann maybe.

Already have Khawaja & Labuschagne so really need to know what our ideal Round 12 team looks like though to work out how many we want , some of these might need to be onfield Round 13 as well.

Round 12 so far

Short
Khawaja , Labuschagne
Bancroft , Hardie , Inglis , Tye
Abbott

That's 8 already

Do we want Behrendorff + 2 more Heat ?

Sams $ 136,600.00 is he a option again ?

Well that was a pretty disappointing round! The top four teams for the “weekly” being ghost ships, and all carrying a donut, probably says a fair bit about what sort of round it was.

Onwards and upwards!

@Herbie66, we haven’t developed a longer term trading plan for the doubles, I think mainly because it has proven difficult as a collective process, especially alongside the need to agree trades each day recently. With that said, I think the approach to doubles has been “as many as possible, within reason”, and that has served us pretty well. Your input on broader plans has probably kept us on the straight and narrow a couple of times though!

I’m anticipating that we will use all bar perhaps 2-3 of our remaining trades on double players. Possibly Sams, a cash grab or two if desired, and a donut if desired/useful to free up cash, would be my suggested deviations from that strategy.

Heat and Scorchers with low BEs would be ideal given the sequencing of doubles, but there are some good Hurricanes with low BEs too.

I think we still need to consider BE's or we will struggle for cash.

No Heat options jump out at me this round, I think we could wait a week on them.

Perth has a lot of cheaper options, but I'm not sure we want another BAT from them (Eskinazi, BE -35), seeing as we just copped a 1, 1 and 11 from their top 4 batters. A lot of their bowlers aren't secure in the team, Behrendorff (BE 18) might be an option. (Not completely ruling out Eskinazi - cash cow too, but could be hard to carry all those batting Scorchers)

Hobart, although a week further away for their double has some good options. Meredith (-15), Ashraf (-13), Dooley (3) jump out.

Sams (-14) seems OK too.

If we need a cash grab, I recommend checking out the table in Tails' topic.

My suggestions on players with a reasonable BE we might target.

Lynn is a definite out. Could make a case for 3/4 of the team for the other two spots after last round...

Even though theyll raise Id probably hold off on the Canes not currently in the side and just look to flick to them post Round 12, just going to make next rounds trades harder due to lack of viable trade outs otherwise.

Combo of Brown,Behrendorff,Neser and Bazley feel the guys to target but depends what we can afford.

Bank $ 27,700.00

Lynn $ 167,200.00
Kerr $ 132,000.00 BE 56
Head $ 118,300.00 BE 68
Carey $ 115,300.00 BE 65

Likelihood of all 3 dropping dollars this round.

Think the first decision is if we want Behrendorff or not for DGR 12 (or find a 5th Scorcher)

$ 170,800.00 BE 18 so he won't get cheaper.

Bazley $ 157,500.00 BE 47 could possibly wait a round

Neser $ 136,800.00 BE 91 wait a round

Next decision would be if we want Sams , $ 136,600.00 BE -14.

Still think we need a cash grab player to trade in this round and trade out next along with Connolly - > new donut (that's going to be costly as it it is).

Dollars are the biggest concern now and will dictate everything.

Lynn basically gets Behrendorff

Kerr basically gets Sams

Then we have about $ 20k to play with for 4 more trades.

Cash grab , cash grab , cash grab required

Need to be factoring in the price of our preferred ins (and outs) for Round 12 as well.

Additional Hurricanes may need to wait until Round 13 when we can trade out Scorchers

Kellapotha & Conway are 2 possible cash grab options , in this round and out next , have no idea what they need to score though to rise $ 20-25k.

Unless we just use 2 trades in one of these next 2 rounds.

I guess the other option for cash is to trade out Matt Short

I know we have been keen on the Holt idea , but a cheaper alternative for Round 12 🍩 could be Gray/Nikitaras/Pawson , admittedly none have DPP (chances of all 3 playing must be remote) , just need to be mindful of what Scorchers we bench in Round 13 and don't get caught out.

Saves $ 39k as well

Assume Bancroft or Inglis will be kept to be used as one 🍩 if necessary in Round 13

Let's take a step back and assess where our team is at and determine what's possible for the remaining 3 rounds. With a team value of circa $2.4M we cannot satisfy all of our target 'wish list'. I've broken the current team as per below with the aim of seeing clearly where we sit and what's available moving forward: Green denotes players with a DGR to come (9), Red denotes non-playing players (2) and unhighlighted are those players who can be traded if required (5).
1673827056243.png
A few observations below to be considered before deciding on what's the next best cause of action:
  • What's the most viable and realistic # of DGR players count for the last 2 rounds, what's the best split across those rounds? Our maximum DGR count is 19 across the final 2 rounds but probably too optimistic given the structure of our team and cash position. I feel that 16 is the sweet spot and adjust from there.
  • When is the best round to use our last boost? At this stage, I would favour using it in the last round as this would make the expensive Canes players accessible via trading out Scorchers players who holds more value.
  • If reserving boost for the final round, we need to find 6 players to trade out over the next 2 rounds. 2 'Red' and 5 'Unhighlighted' gives us 7 players. One of the Red has no value and we may have a preference to keeping 2 from the Unhighlighted group (MShort& Abbott).
  • This gives us 4 'ideal' OUTs in Carey, Head, Kerr & Lynn which is 2 short of our target over the next 2 rounds, Connolly makes it 5 but limits our bank for target players.
  • Is a VC/C loop a consideration for R12 as Connolly will be useless for that job, maybe consider a return of a cheap Handscomb? Will only consider if we have a bankable Scorchers VC.
Scorchers (4) = Tye, Inglis, Hardie, Bancroft
Expensive = JRicho, Behrendorff, Kelly
Affordable = Turner, Agar, Eskinazi, Morris, Payne, Hatzoglou, Hobson

Heat (2) = Labuschagne, Khawaja
Expensive = Bazley
Affordable = Neser, Brown, Kuhnemann, Swepson, Johnson, Renshaw, Peirson

Hurricanes (3) = Ellis, McDermott, Wade
Expensive = Dooley, Jewell, David
Affordable = Meredith, Ashraf, Crawley

More to come...

One possible pathway to round out the season...

1673835413259.png
In the above example, I've chosen to adopt a 8/7 DGR split with TBC as a potential plus one. MShort, Abbott & Sams to fill out the remaining on-field spots as required.
Green = DGR players
Blue = Bench Loop
Black = Dedicated Donut

Round 11
With only 4 ideal OUTs (plus Connolly) from a required 6 over the next 2 rounds, someone has to be sacrificed for the betterment or balance of the team moving forward. I've selected Bancroft in the example but could easily be Hardie if that's the group consensus.
  • Swapping Bancroft to Behrendorff to even up our exposure to their BAT & BWL
  • Sams as one of the 3 core SGR players
  • Handscomb to give us a loop option for this round between WKP/BAT and a as a dedicated VC loop for R12
This setup gives us up to Wednesday to decide on which 2 of the 3 loops we want to take. Also, Handscomb open up all VC/C loop options.

Round 12
Adding a further 2 Heats to even our exposure, similar to approach with Scorchers.
We theoretically can have a look at MShort & Ellis scores before committing to that 3rd trade (TBC):
  • If MShort fail miserably, TBC can become any affordable Heat to give us that +1 for the round. If MShort pass, then we move onto Ellis.
  • If we want to take Ellis score over playing Abbott then TBC becomes a dedicated donut (someone from Thunder), otherwise TBC could become a Hurricanes pending available funds to give us a +1 for R13.
Round 13
We can all take a deep breath once this round is upon us. Pretty much all the hard work has been done and executed over the preceding 2 rounds. All that's left to do is to decide on which 4 to take from the Hurricanes as almost all combinations should be attainable.
Depending on what the decision on TBC was the previous round, we could feasibly have the luxury of seeing MShort & Abbott scores with 3 handy Heats padded up ready to take to the field.

I've taken the time to put together the above to give a sense of what's possible once our objectives are aligned and realistic, it's only one of many possible pathways. Use it as you would when using a road map, players & DGR count, etc. are replaceable/interchangeable depending on preference and circumstance at the time. I won't have time this week to check and respond so please refrain from asking any specific questions, there should be sufficient coaches on here to help nudge the team along. Thanks and all the best for the remainder of the season.

Lots of comments on possible trades etc over the last day or so it seems.

I'm not going to have time to read through everything before the game tonight (very busy day at work), so can someone please summarise what trades we are doing tonight? Will probably get a couple of minutes before the game to lock in any trades, but that is about it.

Thanks.

It’s c. $250 per point above BE, so to rise $20-25k, they’d need to beat BE by 80-100.
