What is the current forecast looking like?

I'm leaning to 2-3 'Canes max if it was up to me, a lot of SGR's are outscoring DGR's lately.
It’s “only” around 30-40% around the start of game time.

It looks like Meredith and David are the leaders on the poll. Maybe they come in barring a major change, and we look at what the looping options, and/or the DGR/SGR X vs Y looks like?

How is the weather situation looking ?

6 Hurricanes + Abbott
I think it’s about 10% better than it was before, 20% at 8pm as a benchmark:

http://www.bom.gov.au/places/tas/hobart/forecast/detailed/

My suggestion would be that we plan as though it’s not raining, unless the forecast gets a lot worse … and if it is raining close to start time, we can reverse course (trade updating to anyone not playing tomorrow, and perhaps putting the E on the Hurricanes we do have?).

My sense is that rain, if anything, is “over-forecast” (ie it arrives less than is predicted), and it has less impact on play proceeding than we sometimes assume/fear on SCS.

Open to other ideas, obviously, but to me this seems logical.

Sounds like a good plan.

I have no idea what to do when there is threat of rain.

Is Abbott (E) worth doing ?

Any thoughts for VC ?

I think if it’s possible to get a visual of how we look with those two trades executed, it will be easier to see whether Abbott can/should be looped.

For VC, I would probably go with Wade if Hobart bat first, and Ellis otherwise. Both of those suit their historical scoring patterns.

There may be some temptation to VC McDermott, but his form is poor, and I see the VC here as more like choosing a C (ie we are largely guarding against injury or omission by looping, we’re not trying for a big ceiling with a DGR captain as backup, given only Hurricanes play twice).

David or Meredith could be options if anyone is keen on them/perhaps sees a strong matchup.

Haven't set all the VC etc yet, but this will give some idea.

I would have thought Inglis was more obvious to trade out, would let us get at least a playing BAT E that way by keeping one of Bazley/Marnus.
The way the sides set up doesnt do us any favours, hard to have 4 trade outs that actually has a good starting side with good cover plus flexibility to field Sams if the VC fails both games.

This is how I’ve set up my side (very similar to ours, except I already have Dooley, and have traded in 4 Hurricanes this round to maximize the double). Meredith is the fifth bowler.

It looks like it may be possible to do some good looping, using Scorchers as donuts if cash permits.

This setup gives me 8 Hurricanes + Neser + loops of Abbott into Bazley/Renshaw, and M Short into Renshaw/Bazley. Bancroft allows the C loop to be taken without needing to take Abbott or M Short if they both fail.

The key risk would be weather, but that’s what plan B is for!

Aren't we better off keeping Hardie instead of Inglis ? 🤔

Need to find a spot for Sams onfield in case our VC fails.

I assume we are going to use him as back-up captain.

Although I guess we can juggle things around after tonight's game depending on what happens.

Need to get Khawaja off field as well

Yes, agree we are better off keeping Hardie, Darkie wanted to see what the team looked like with those trades. Hopefully doing so will sort the other issues, I'll try it shortly.

I think Bancroft/Inglis needs to be @ WK1 as well , Renegades play the second game so wouldn't have any room if Reggie fails tonight.

At least that way we could get Bancroft/Inglis to Clarke or Gilkes if we need too.

Then we might need another onfield donut spot though for captain.

Can see what VC scores tonight.

That would leave Bat bench as Khawaja & Handscomb

Annoyingly Hurricanes play Heat so we can't look at McDermott's second score before trading out Heat players

76th is awesome!! Good recovery! After a hectic weekend I'm able to look at SC things again so can provide much more input this time around. Will suss it all out and throw my 2 cents in when I get a sec.

Switched Bancroft and Handscomb in the team posted in 1417, makes sense, hadn't looked at game order in detail (doing this at work).
