Another season over and the end of looking forward to refreshing this page first thing in the morning and looking at it last thing before going to sleep at night - a true addict šŸ˜‚

Nowhere near as knowledgeable as the rest of you but hoping to post a bit more next BBL when I hopefully have some more free time. My goal was to make the top 250 and I ended on 218th, my best score since starting 3 years ago! šŸ˜
Learnings from this season:
  • Donā€™t hold onto a player for sentimental reasons: held onto Rashid Khan because heā€™s one of my favourite players, and he had a very average season
  • Donā€™t fade M Short, he was the only player I held all season and he rewarded me!
  • Sometimes a quality single round player will out score an average double round player, donā€™t load up on double round players just for the sake of having a lot of them, and then get stuck fielding them for the next 3 rounds šŸ«
  • Finally figured out loops and it makes a huge difference to points
  • Donā€™t chase last rounds pointsā€¦ unless itā€™s Steve Smith!
  • Most 50/50 calls will seem to go against you, but upon reflection they probably donā€™t and youā€™ll get some lucky scores too. Celebrate the big wins and move on from the unlucky rounds.
Amazing work @Diabolical, surely you can start telling your family to let you watch in peace because youā€™re working when you watch cricket?! Amazing effort.
@The Banker you have been very humble and kind and it was so fun following your journey, thanks for letting us all follow along. Crossing my fingers next season is yours.

Thanks everyone, canā€™t believe how addicted I get and how enjoyable this is, almost tempted to start getting into footy so I can do it again soon. šŸ˜… See you in November/December!

Finished at 3.7K overall rank. A bit disappointed for a drop from rank #188 from the last season. However, thoroughly enjoyed the journey! For sure quite a few learning this season as usual. Kinda lost track of the game and the discussions here in the 2nd half of the bbl, as am on vacation.

I would like to thank everyone for their valuable inputs/suggestions/intriguing simulations! Which all helped in someway or the other. Special thanks to the likes of @Herbie66 @ProfPeteSpace Professor and many more friends who has responded to my individual requests (apologies that couldnā€™t tag every name here).

My hearty congratulations to @Diabolical - Massive respect! Back to back #1 is some incredible feat šŸ† Live the moment and enjoy.
Congratulations to @The Banker as well. Amazing effort.

Cheers all!

Looking forward to BBL13!

Iā€™m undecided whether Iā€™ll participate in next seasonā€™s BBL SC given the hectic and time consuming nature of the schedule, but I am definitely looking forward to getting back into the AFL SC again after a break last season.
Hoping you go around again mate, you're a wealth of knowledge and some of your thoughts/opinions went a long way in helping me reach 4th overall. In fact, I can remember you saying you felt like Lynn was about to hit some form... it inspired me to stick him on the ground and Lynn went huge!

Again, congratulations to everyone for a fantastic season. SCS once again totally dominating the BBL format! So good to see!

Just incredible from @Diabolical, you are in a league of your own with your ability to structure and map out the best plan of attack.

From my point of view, 22nd overall in the end. Really happy with that. Had a solid build throughout the tournament, hovering either side of ~200th overall from Round 3 through to Round 8, where I then had a nice jump into 87th, where from there a trio of ~22 overall rank improvements leading into the final round where I was able to go from 34th into 22nd with a round ranking of 128th (my best weekly of the year).

Like many have noted in the strategy threads, I was no different in not nailing the SGW weeks, with SGW Rounds 6 and 7 in particularly very much outliers in comparison to the rest of my tournament. Also got sucked into Labuschagne, Khawaja and Head coming off the test series which hurt, as well as holding McDermott (and Wade), for what felt like an eternity, in preparation of their final round DGW maybe restricted me a touch. But I think overall I played a really strong "DGW Preparation" game at the expense of a few looping opportunities at times, but probably +85% of the time I was lucky enough to come out on the right side of the non-looping results.

In terms of initial selections, liked Webster a lot pre tournament but didn't start due to a few role concerns, things fell his way with Stoinis and Burns early, and he didn't look back for the first half of the tournament which was tough to watch. Dooley was another I liked but didn't start due to (from memory) Canes fixture and inability to carry with my structure, turns out I could've utilised him as an on field option almost throughout. The two that really stung, that I just thought the bubble would burst after not necessarily believing the roles was Hardie and Sutherland, ended up with Hardie for the backend Scorchers DGWs and got nice reward, but Sutherland didn't come in until the final round and I broke him for his lowest score since the role change.

Overall, a fantastic summer, loved the way we get around each other on the side, whether we be doing well or on the rough end of some calls.

Can't wait for next year!

Score: 972
RD Rank: 552
Overall Rank: 334 (from 437)

Very happy with the result considering I shot myself in the foot a few times by handing the VC to Bazley and Philippe in their double game rounds over more popular options in Neser and Abbott, with approx 160 points missed on both occasions. Did manage to captain Richo in RD2 to help compensate for that.

Considering I donā€™t go overboard and tend to limit players from a team on the double to around the 3 to 4 range, very happy for another top 500 finish. Now the aim is to finally push a top 100 finish.

Congrats to all those that achieved personal bests, contributed to high ranking leagues or to in site discussions and offered assistance, etc throughout the season. Thoroughly enjoyed watching @Diabolical go back to back, along with @The Banker posting a podium finish.

Just thought I would share this one.

Honoured to become the 12th member of BBL SC to be crowned Melbourne Stars champion.

I've achieved something the Melbourne Stars are yet to achieve themselvesšŸ˜‚

And an indicator that Andrew and Zac were already smarter than me before the event even beganšŸ˜‚ (we knew Andrew was alreadyšŸ˜‰)

Had to step away from BBL for a little bit after life (8 month pregnant partner, trip to emergency (no issues thank goodness!), family and friends visiting, birthdays, golf days, crazy busy work, etc) meant my last 2 rounds were a disaster and blew my final rank out to 1,740.

Massive congratulations to @Diabolical - going back to back is beyond impressive but not at all surprisingly when you get to see how you operate. You always seem to know when to go against the grain, and when to play it safe.. honestly amazing.

Shout out to @The Banker too, you had an amazing season and you handled yourself with class right up to the final ball. Would have loved to see you win it just for your humble nature alone! Hope you feel proud of yourself cause I know this community is proud of you!

Personally, this was a mixed season. Horrible first few rounds, then back to back weeks of ~300th for the round got me to 607th.. but after 4-5 rounds hovering between 600-800 I decided to risk it for the biscuit and try to improve my rank. Few picks were genius, few broke even, too many backfired and I drifted out to just over 1,000th. Last two rounds added 700 spots to that but if I'm going to have that happen, this was the year when I was in no man's land anyway!

Congrats to everyone who smashed it this year - great to see the SCS community having such a successful season and looking forward to doing it all again in the shortened format next season.

Now bring on the AFL!

To keep it interesting, letā€™s play a game. You pick one heat player and one thunder player by commenting. Doesnā€™t matter whether both bats/bowlers but must be separate teams.

Iā€™ll do the scores at the end of the game to see who wins. No prizes, just something to make it fun.

Iā€™ll start and go POD to make it easier for others to win:

Qadir
Khawaja
