I have my team permanently as incomplete, with only my locks saved. These are the guys who, barring any preseason injury or disaster, are starting for me in round 1. I'll semi regularly fill in the rest and screenshot any decent combinations I might like to go back to.
As it stands I have 13 locked away. I'd be interested to know how many locks others have at this stage?

I have 16 locked in. Could not use SC website to plan teams (death of a thousand cuts) so I use excel. Much easier to search and add/remove players. I keep copies of the major team versions to refer back to various structures/player combinations.

I think I have about 18 or 19 locked in, that could change when half my rookies aren't named ;)

I rarely use supercoach. All my planning on a spreadsheet where I can use a process of elimination.
Rarely put a team together. Just list players as I like them in their position and overall.
Rarely look at structure. Just pick the best players. Currently have Yeo at D1.
Rarely do well!!!

Can 100% guarantee you that neither will be in my starting team, can't see either of them being remotely SC relevant tbh
fair enough, just throwing players out there because i am almost sure we will miss one of the great mid pricers that seemingly bolt at the start of the year (like Stengle last year)

I actually don't mind either of the guys you named.

Amon though is too awkwardly priced and no guarantee he gets an inside mid role just because they look very weak on paper. If he's on a wing still in a bad team he should go backwards.

McKay I only like because Clarko has always had an intercept marker as a prominent role, thing Hodge, Sicily and so on. In their backline it's going to either be Ziebell, McKay or Logue. It's an interesting decision, Ziebell has the least range vertically as an intercept but by far the most dangerous with the ball, McKay the clear best marking option but is a total ball stopper which kind of kills the chance of rebound and turnover potential. Logue is unproven and not sure he's much of an improvement in either area over the other two. I'd still lean Ziebell, he was very effective doing it in 2021.

To be fair, don't expect either end up in my side but they're both worth watching for significant role changes.

On the locked discussion, I'd say I'm at one right now, which is Dunkley.

I don't see how anyone could have anyone else locked at this point. Rozee, Ginbey, Ziebell, Ashcroft and Yeo would be my next five at this point but all have definite boxes to be ticked before I'm thinking of locking them in.

Honestly, even the premiums are wide open in the mids. Macrae, Neale, Petracca, Kelly, Green and a few others could very quickly demand selection over the guys I've got in.

They were discussing the Lewis injury on Sen1116 and they thought Mitchell was letting supporters down slowly, so it's most likely a long term injury and they won't rush him back as their in a rebuild and won't be contending this year, so no point risking him.

Any Here's an article with their best 22.

What we learnt: Match Sim

A Monday morning match simulation at Austworld Centre Oval has gleaned some insight into who is firming for selection in Stuart Dew’s Round 1 team.

It was a probables v possibles match-up, with the red and blue sides slogging away for two hours in a balmy 30-degree heat.

The starting midfield for the probables in red consisted of Jarrod Witts in the ruck alongside centre-square midfielders Touk Miller, Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson.

Lining up on the wings were David Swallow and Elijah Hollands.

For the blues, it was Ned Moyle in the ruck with Connor Blakely, Brayden Fiorini and Alex Davies on the ball.

Pre-season standout Sam Flanders started at half-forward for the reds and was busy linking up with teammates around stoppages.

The remainder of the red forward line consisted of key forward pair Mabior Chol and Levi Casboult alongside Nick Holman, Malcolm Rosas Jnr and Ben Ainsworth.

In defence, it was Charlie Constable who was the new face in red alongside defensive regulars Sean Lemmens, Sam Collins and Charlie Ballard.

Ben King, Lachie Weller, Connor Budarick and Wil Powell were among a handful not to take part in the match simulation on a managed workload.

The SUNS will prepare to take on Essendon in match simulation next Thursday February 23, with the match at Austworld Centre Oval open to the public and getting underway at 4pm.

Keep hearing positive things about Flanders - 256K Fwd/Mid, finished last season strong. Half fwd linking up around stoppages & in the probables team, one to watch in the preseason games.
