From the x vs y thread but I thought my next question is more relevant to this thread.

Are the forward rookies stronger than the mid rookies this year??

Fwd:
Clark
Hogan
Salem
Karnesis
Lamb

Fwd/mid:
Steele
Caleb
Lambert
Krakour

Mid:
Newton
Cripps
Anderson
Ellis-Yolman
Amon
Boekhorst
Freeman (unlikely)

I just feel apart from Newton those forwards have better JS and prehaps scoring potential. Even if not would the strong forward options justify 1 or even two mid/fwds in the mids. Eg.) Martin/Lambert. Anyone beg to differ?
I think we will have more mid rookies to choose from. You forgot to mention Acres, Sheed, de Goey, Cockatoo, Heeney, Vandenberg and Miller who are all a chance to play round 1. There are probably a few others that might pop up.

i can tell right now that we will start the wrong rookies on the field like we always do

if only we automatically got the highest score because there is just to much luck involved for my liking especially with cash leagues and or overall

all it takes is for a 40 on field score and 90 bench score to completely ruin your season especially with all the effort and time we put into our teams
This isn't true, if you had that sort of bad luck every round then it will start to add up, but there are many more factors involved over a whole season that the 50 points lost on the bench won't impact your overall season result compared with many other things. Your captain picks and trades far outweigh your starting team yet most people spend months on their starting team and make trade and captain choices in 15 minutes with no thought or planning, stay upbeat and focus on the long term, a small set back at the start does not put you out of contention for winning overall / your league / beating your mates / whatever else you're aiming for. Many articles by passed winners demonstrate some mistakes or poor choices they made, the skill is having the ability to correct these and improve. Good luck mate!

How many 200K+ mid rookies are all you guys putting in your midfield? I hoping to have a starting structure of 4-0-4 in the midfield but having difficulty picking how many 200K rookies to have. Van Berlo, Newton, Cripps, Sheed and add Cockatoo whos a bit cheaper. It's hard to narrow them down

Add in Van Berlo

Just the one for me. Having any more than one throws out the balance of the rest of my side.

Who's left now? Brown, Hamling, McIntosh and Saad if upgraded. That's about it though isn't it?

So right now we only have one definite in Brown with Hamling a good chance, Saad a good chance if upgraded and I wouldn't think McIntosh is much of a chance but I could be wrong.

Is there anybody else that is a possibility to play round 1?

Oxley could be a chance if he has a big game this week

****, Byrne, Dalgleish, Clurey?
Are any of those guys a possibility though? From what I've heard all four are next to no chance.

Dalgleish will obviously play if ASADA suspend most of the Essendon players.

So that's another backline rookie that bites the dust...
How about Lauchlan Dalgleish?
Nope.

All we've really got is Brown and Hamling... two key defenders...

Saad... possibly, if the coaches like him a lot (which I think they do). Oxley a possibility. I'd put a line through almost everyone else.

Well the backline rookies are an absolute shambles but I did just notice a positive with regards to rookies.

I don't know about the rest of you but in my current side I have just one rookie that is playing on the Sunday or Monday of round 1. This is excellent as I will be able to find out early in the round whether almost all of my current rookies are named and not the sub.

I have purposely avoided rookies from Geelong and Hawthorn in particular as they have the Monday game. Not to mention that they are two of the best sides in the competition so locking down a regular spot will be difficult in itself.

Are others in a similar boat with almost all of their rookies playing on the Thurs, Fri or Sat?

Anyone care to rank the mid rookies in order of best to worst chances of playing round 1 and not being the sub?

Here is my shot at it, I have ignored any that I don't think will play round 1 at this point in time:
- van Berlo (5% sub chance)
- Newton (5% sub chance)
- Vandenberg (20% sub chance)
- Heeney (50% sub chance)
- Ellis-Yolmen (50% sub chance)
- Lang (50% sub chance)
- Robinson (50% sub chance)
- Miller (70% sub chance)
- Cockatoo (70% sub chance)
- Anderson (80% sub chance)
- Beokhorst (90% sub chance)
