What if I told you the Captain of the AA team selected as a FWD this season would have a disposal efficiency a scratch above 60% and a scoring accuracy a scratch above 30%
I’d say, “So Danger made it again.”

Some players are assumed to be AA each year and must have a poor season to miss out. Most are the reverse.

Honestly I've seen better decision making from myself picking an uber eats meal at 2am on a Saturday after a night on the p***

The backline and wing selection is a train wreck, rest of the side is ok, but also not as good as it could be.
Agreed, that backline is an absolute disgrace Shep is the only one who deserves to be there in my eyes.

Dusty, Danger & Bont kicked about 30.70 between them this year. Baffling selections.

AA is just a brand name flog off, becomes less and less relevant each year.

Liam Ryan has to try and crumb to 5 players! Before 2018 Adam Simpson admitted they had too many mids in their forward line. They got Ryan and Rioli and won the premiership. It's a specific role.

Guthrie 17% of time spent on wing, Macrae 4% of time spent on the wing... Yet they where selected in the specialized wing positions over Menegola, Gaff and McCluggage who are the 3 best genuine Wingers in the comp.

Bont played just 15% of his time up forward this year, Yet they snub a true forward who played a genuine role up forward to fit him in. No problems with Bont being in the team... Just put him in the Midfield or on the bench and reward the true Forwards who are the best at what they do.

10 Inside Mids selected in the team.

same old same old

no wingers picked and the best winger in the game doesn't even make the 40 man squad 🤔

Bont , Danger & Dusty not good enough to be selected as mids then don't pick them at all (maybe Danger at CHF 😉)

pick specialist forward players

Charlie & Hawkins both play the same position

actually don't mind the back line

is it too much to ask to pick the side as if it was to play a actual game

I agree, it should have been 2 of those 3. I don't reckon Macrae was AA this year and I have no idea how Guthrie is. Neither of them are wingers.

Haynes, Darcy Moore and DBJ are not all Australian. I don't mind having Dusty in, he plays a fair bit forward. It was quite funny when Riewoldt said to two midfielders Danger and Bont, ''as half-forwards you guys take the big marks!''

I forgot to put Boak in the team I wrote on here, I don't mind that pick, or having Gawn on the bench. Steele probably also deserved to be on the bench, Adams probably a bit fortunate, but thats an alright decision. Daniel should have been on the field.

Yeah I'm baffled as to how Menegola has missed out to be honest. He was phenomenal this year.

In hindsight, we shouldn't be surprised to see DBJ in there, the way Richo and Darce carried on a couple of weeks back on commentary about him was unbelievable. Also, I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it or anything, just saying we shouldn't have been surprised after the way they carried on a couple of weeks back haha.

In my eyes, the selectors had the perfect opportunity this year to throw Dangerfield and Petracca on the HFFs, and 'get away' with it so to speak. Both, particularly Dangerfield, did enough forward work to accept them as midfielders who can sit on the flanks for the purpose of this side (knowing that they love to get these midfielders in there). Which it then baffles me as to why they went with Bontempelli on one of the flanks, 100% he should be in that side (I had him centre in my predicted side, and VC), but either put him midfield or on the bench. Bizarre call.

Dusty to bench, and Buttler in on a pocket was more what I expected to see. Not sure what more Dan could've done to be honest.

What is the significance of Captain and Vice Captain? Is Danger the best Captain in the AFL? Is it recognition of being the best player in the All Australian team? Is it recognition of most caps?
I always thought it was meant to be who'd you'd want to Captain this side if it had to go out and play an actual game... Usually coming from one of the actual Captains in the side. But now they have introduced these "Legacy" selections as captains.

The selectors have made a complete mess of it in the last few years. Take 2018 for example when they went with a "Legacy" selection in Lance Franklin... ahead of the actual 2018 Premiership Captain in Shannon Hurn. Absolutely baffling. Franklin has never been voted by his teammates to Captain a side... Hurn was voted in to captain his side and led them to the Premiership, yet gets overlooked for Franklin & Dangerfield.

Guess that's what happens when you let muppets like Ling & Richardson onto the selection panel.

The captain this year turned into a "congratulations for doing so well as the head of the ALFPA Paddy during this coronavirus year".

Jake Lloyd not even in the 40. Baffling🤷‍♂️.
I know people here refer to him as seagull, and while he may play a role where he’s often left loose out the back to mop up the scraps there is a reason for him having this role in the team, and that is he’s damn good at it. And with ball in hand there are few better decision makers and distributors of the pill in the competition
He came 13th in the league for intercept possessions per game. Seems quite high for a "seagull". That's one spot above "intercept defender" Darcy Moore.

He was 6th for total intercept possessions on the year.

Think you are missing a line (ruck/mid)

I agree the team was poor this year, but I expect that by now.
