It's interesting though with the SRH , Williamson & Nabi/Shakib couldn't even get a full time gig with Bairstow , Warner & RK19 ahead of them.

Good article on CricBuzz comparing how CSK & RCB have gone about building their Squads since the start of IPL and actually picking players for roles.

There is a doco on (maybe) Netflix about how Mumbai have built their side. I didn’t watch the whole thing but my impression was that they were pretty focused on things like how marketable certain players were.

I think even with their name , Mumbai Indians was a bold statement , probably didn't sit well with some of the other franchises but their record speaks for themselves.

Another team that has kept its core players for a long time.

Malinga & Pollard have probably been with them 9+ seasons , Rohit is revered.

And now with Bumrah and the Pandya brothers etc etc

Think Harbhajan was their in the early days before going to CSK.
