I can't help but feel for @Tails this round...Hurn & ZWilliams being managed and injured respectively at the worst possible time, JKelly failing to return as the Giants rest up their guns for the Demons next round and Simpkin's concussed early in the 3rd QT to open proceeding. He's done a mighty job to still be able to field 21 prior to trades including 17 Keepers, 6 of them unique POD to @Bomber18

Adrian pulled a rabbit out from his hat in a last ditch effort just to make Finals, does he have more rabbits to reveal for this all important matchup...?

Nice one boss. You can only plan as best you can. Remember, we don't hold the racket or club..

Good game @Erich1036

Went right down to the wire. The wait for scaling was agonising!
Good game mate! Wish I could say I was completely outplayed, but I think I outplayed myself a little bit by trading Viney to JPK... what was I thinking  it just didn't feel right doing nothing when I had 3 trades remaining :ROFLMAO:

Think you had the better team regardless, good luck moving forward!

Yeah that was so unlucky with the Viney to JPK move. I was actually watching the game getting frustrated at how well Viney was playing only to find you traded him once the game was finished!

Thanks mate, going to be a very very tough ask against the all conquering @THCLT but I’ll give it my best shot!

ROUND 16 - PREMIER LEAGUE SEMI-FINALS - OUTCOME

The crowd falls silent, the epic battles done, all hearts thumping as the adrenaline high slowly comes down. They give a moment before roaring their delight, frustration and ululation at the results. The victors stand tall with arms raised, they are bloodied and bruised from the fight but they are still standing. The defeated are slumped on the ground, lost for the moment in the shadows of those that stand above them.

TailsPower and Caleb's Kings fought hard but ultimately weren't able to overcome their opponents. They now leave the SCS PL arena to recover and plot their revenge. The Jibrangers and Beasts FC look to Round 17 and the well rested Goodie's Guns and THCLT. The crowd slowly sits back down, murmuring quietly and waits tense for the next battles to start. For the penultimate bouts that will show who will fight for the PL crown!

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Semi-final One
Jibrangers v TailsPower

Prediction - Hard to pass up Team Jibrangers, to win by 30.
Outcome - Team Jibrangers won by 172.

It wasn't the week for Tails. Missing the big guns of Seagull, Neale and Gawn hurt, with each of them rubbing salt in with scores of 114, 151 and 132. Ouch. Despite eating an unavoidable (although probably tasty) backline donut, Coach Sho scored a strong 2,132 points for the best 18 round, showing the evenness of his team across every line. Unfortunately Coach Adrian couldn't crack the 2k barrier this week with a few spuds causing grief.

The expert panel were on the money with their prediction!

Semi-final Two
Beasts FC v Caleb's Kings

Prediction - Got a sneaky sense of an upset here, going with the Kings by 43.
Outcome - Beasts FC won by 8.

Wow, that got close! It was neck and neck right down to the final game with Coach Ben's Miller 80 v Coach Caleb's Oscar 65 deciding the outcome. Certainly could have gone either way. Joy for Ben, heartache for Caleb, but congrats to both for a tactical and engrossing contest. Both teams posted a respectful scores just above 2k, not bad for a best 18 round.

Once again the expert panel were on the money with their prediction, although my nose was obviously not quite tuned in...

ROUND 17 - PREMIER LEAGUE PRELIMS!

The crowd settles and hushes, all eyes fixed on the arena, four mighty champions stride onto the sand. The salute the stands, the crowd responds with cheers, and then they split and turn. They consider their opponent, watching for weaknesses, knowing their strengths. Each gathers his strength and launches into action, the fight is on, to the victors the spoils!

Where four walked in, only two will walk out. Those two will know they are but one week, one round, one win from Premier League Glory!

Preliminary finals. They have a habit of throwing up the unexpected don't they... Remember 2018 when the Big Texan tore the heart out of the Tigers? Or when the Doggies just did enough to get over the Giants in 2016? Who could forget that magnificent night Silk broke the Kennett curse in 2013! In some ways this is the most dangerous game of the season, favourites get upset, suspensions cause grand final heartache, injuries bring tears, winners briefly celebrate before composing themselves for the big dance. This year will be no different.

So let's have a look at who will be fighting it out in the Prelims -

Prelim Two
Jibrangers v Goodie's Guns

The Jibrangers again have the ranking advantage and will come into the match with confidence at sky high levels after easily seeing off TailsPower in the semis. GG is definitely the odd man out with the other prelim contenders having a ranking <500, but finals have a funny way of ignoring what has happened in the past. With 9 pods between the two sides, there looks like there could be a bit of variation in scoring. Both have some injury Blues to deal with which are sure to cause some tension in the coaches box, hard to see where the bench cover is at the moment. There is an obvious difference between the sides at the moment and it is as big as the beard on the face of the Melbourne captain... Does Draper have another surprise 100 in him? Will Gawn throw out a sub-100 against the Giants? Answers to these questions will go a long way to deciding what happens in this match. Early pod scoring has Coach Tim with a Duncan 95, while Coach Sho has a poor Danger 66 probably putting him slightly behind at the moment.

We will throw to our knocked out finalists to see what they think -

Jibrangers by 68pts. Coach Sho and his boys just keep bringing it week after week season after season, very brave man to tip against him.
Tails said:
Not sure until final teams drop but think Sho might have a slight edge, will pluck a 50pt margin

Jibrangers by around 40
Going against the grain and my head, but I tipped him from the preseason so not giving up now, GG to win in a nail biter by 11.

Prelim One
Beasts FC v FLYING HORSES

This will be fascinating. There are 11 pods between the two sides and Coach Thanh with the ranking advantage. Surely there is a premium mid to come in for the HORSES, facilitated by moving Rankine or Riccardi on, moving Whitfield forward. Ben looks like he has the most potential injuries to deal with, leaving Thanh with the freedom to work some strategic magic. As with many things Supercoach it could come down to the rucks - who's week will it be - Grundy or Goldy? Wingard in team Beasts makes me shudder but he is a big game specialist and might turn it on this week. Like the look of the forward line in the HORSES, could be the major difference if it scores as expected. Early pod scoring has Coach Thanh with a poor Danger 66 but solid showings from Ryder and Steele, while Coach Ben has a Duncan 95.

Who do our knocked out finalists tip -
doc ron said:
Flying Horses by 95pts. Coach Ben and his Beasts have been solid all season, however I just think those Flying Horses have the edge this time round.

Flying Horses by again around 40
Not wanting to miss out on tonnes of Grand Final puns, I am picking the HORSES by 80.

Some very much appreciated Grand Final tips from the knocked finalists -
doc ron said:
I think those Flying Horses may have to wait another season for ultimate glory. While both teams are in the upper echelon of SC rankings, I think coach Sho has done everything right this year and should get home by 56pts in what should be a battle for the ages. Disclaimer: Barring any major injuries happening between now and Round 18.
Tails said:
Will go with Thanh due to his hoarding of trades.
Erich1036 said:
Coin flip between Bomber and THCLT for me. Bomber likely has Jack Martin to deal with this week so I'll put the advantage ever so slightly in THCLT's corner for now.

To close we have some ruminatings on where it all went wrong -
doc ron said:
My season went wrong with my crap starting team. Somewhere south of 80,000 after round 1 makes for a long way back.
Tails said:
Nothing comes to mind...
Erich1036 said:
I could say trading Viney out last round and basically knocking myself out of the PL but I'll say the season went wrong right before GWS vs Geelong round 1 when I took Lachie Neale out of my team for Josh Kelly.
Oh, and for those wondering about the alley scrap going on to claim Old Rusty - this week sees Blaze against PC and Creekers against Jaca. Should be two good matches with the winners looking to regain a little pride by season end.

Phenomenal work again PC. In the theme of upsets I’ll tip GG (if he moves Draper on) and BB, with his pretty poddy team.

Interesting that neither BB and THCLT have either Neale or Macrae!
I wouldn’t be tipping the Beasts if I were you.

Riccardi out meant that Close and his 36 was required. This move was made to avoid a donut if J Martin misses.

If the benched J Martin does play, you will hear an echoing scream in SA that has come all the way from Geelong.
