Great work @PC with the write ups during the finals series, appreciate the effort and loved the approach!

All the best of luck @Ben's Beasts, it’s the final round where anything can happen so I reckon it’s anyone’s game (especially if Rivers can match his recent premium like efforts).

Will be nervous not owning Oliver this round, I think he’s the one that could really hurt me.

Your gotta be in it to win it trading strategies have paid off, will be some effort if you did get up!
Haynes doing you a favour.

Absolutely outstanding write-ups @PC

I don’t know about others but I actually get a visual of these mythical characters you describe at the start of the posts. You really have a way with words!

Very best of luck to you for our match, @Bomber18 , you have had a fantastic season and looks as though you will finish in the top 100 again.

Two games down and after Haynes’ performance tonight I would have to say that Sho has one hand on the trophy. I needed all my POD’s to fire to give myself a chance and Haynes has just let down the team in a major way. I think it will take the kind of luck I received last Sunday for me to have a chance from here. So certainly not flying the white flag but just stating the obvious, that it’s going to be an uphill battle from here.

I can rest easy next year with @PC in my back pocket...Amazing work with the Finals writeups, you've just got yourself a job for next season!:p

I'll petition to @Rowsus that I'll stay in PL on the condition that you stay as well...(y)

I'm probably not letting too big of a cat out of the bag, but .......
Both of you have qualified for PL next season, assuming you choose to accept the invitation!

Keeping a ticket to PL does not solely rest on your end of season Ranking, or if you make the PF's etc.

PREMIER LEAGUE GRAND FINAL - SUNDAY UPDATE

Sunday morning where I am has stormy skies but the sun is shining bright. Seems apt for the PL GF - Beasts FC is experiencing some harsh winds, while the Jibrangers are watching white puffy clouds float by...
My scorecheck says -
  • Beasts FC - 1,209/14: POD :D days Simpkin and Oliver; POD  days Haynes, Lyons, Martin J, Rivers, Starc on the bench; Bont C?
  • Jibrangers - 1,096/11: POD :D days Neale, Dusty, Laird; POD  days Smith D; taking Gawn C?
Looks like Jibrangers are in the box seat at the moment.

I asked the other PL members a question just for this occasion - "Any advice for those in the Grand Final?" - may Ben and Sho take solace from these words of wisdom...

Ricky Bobby said:
As a former runner up in the PL, my advice is to enjoy the week, but plan well and don’t leave anything in the shed. Most important of all is “don’t lose” as you may never get this chance again 😬😋
IDIG said:
“No one ever remembers who came in second.” Said like a true 2 time premier league runner up. 😂
Maso said:
Don't do anything I would do.
Lost In The Sky said:
Advice is to just do your best, and no matter the result... be proud at making the Grand Final in such a prestigious league. It truly is one of the toughest leagues I've ever been in with quality coaches everywhere. If you are in the GF... You have truly earned it!!

Ignore the captain advice of Connoisseur at your peril! Thanks all for a greatly enjoyable year being part of the best SC league in the country! Particularly in these tough lockdown times the SC battle has been a highlight. Good luck to all in the hunt and let's get our overall league rank as high as we can!

Play for fun, share the highs and lows, be well.

Just enjoy the night boys, no pressure, just the highest honour of SCS on the line.

Bloody well done!

Soak it all up fellas. Enjoy everything that the week brings, the Brownlow, the parade, the North Melbourne Football Club Grand Final Breaky. However, whatever you do, don't listen to those that say "it's just a game" (probably your wife or significant other), it's not, it's life and death, and every stat, even if it's Mitch Duncan taking a mark in the back pocket from a barely 15m kick in from Tommy Stewart late Sunday afternoon, they all count!
THCLT said:
Enjoy the occasion and reap all the accolades afforded to you. It's not often that you get to be front and centre, your team name appearing across the SCS billboards, not to mention the prestige that goes with being crowned PL Champion for the next 12 months.
I will leave Thanh with the final word -

THCLT said:
Sometimes doing nothing is everything. I feel that despite having 2 trades up his sleeve, Sho has all the pressure to ensure that he pulls the right trigger with his trades. Ben's a sitting duck but Sho still needs to jump over him without slipping. Both have tastes victory before and are worthy of being crowned dual PL Champion. A win for Jibrangers will be just reward for an outstanding back half to the season whilst a win for Beasts FC will be the topic of pub talk for many years to come!

So what are the updated scores/matchups before Sunday Carnage(TM) begins?
@Bomber18 @Ben's Beasts
Unfortunately this match-up has turned into a real fizzer.

I’m currently 14/1209 and Sho is 11/1217 (c).

Projected scores are 2,260 for me and 2,432 for Sho.

Will take a miracle from here for the Beasts to win.

@PC great update! Been loving the effort and approach to get all the other coach’s comments haha! Great stuff!!

The Neale v Lyons matchup was a killer for Ben last night and also I got lucky that Rivers did enough for Ben not to risk Starcevich and also Riccardi didn’t do enough not to risk JMartin. About a 75 pt swing was on offer there!

I have my Cavarra C loophole that will be keeping me nervous until the final teams from the Doggies game. Cavarra done nothing for me all season other than ruin loopholes when he’s played, would sum up 2020 perfectly if he was a late in. Will need to be ready until the last minute to flip the C if needed, although scoring wise probably not much worse than Wingard.

Sunday carnage to come makes me nervous but so far so good for the Jibrangers

Commiserations @Ben's Beasts ! I have an unassailable lead. Massive effort on your part to make it through to the grand final with your strong trading efforts, although some say no one remembers the runners up, I think your efforts won’t be forgotten!

Especially by me, as without your efforts to defeat THCLT last week, the 2nd PL crown would not have been mine!

Thanks to everyone who makes this league such fun to be a part of! We had a great variety of previews, reviews, analysis and even coaches comments this season! Honoured to eventually prevail in such a competitive league (ranked very highly this season too).

Congrats @Bomber18

You certainly made the most of your luck of the draw for the GF...;)
Yeah, I would’ve ultimately gone down to you (unless Grundy is out). Feels a bit like my last win, when IDIG decided to bench Hall instead of Motlop, which led to my win!

Congrats on the win in the SCSLG league, well deserved (the title couldn’t have gone to a more deserving member!) The luxury trade was indeed a curse for me this round with my Parker to Macrae move costing me 40 pts or so in the end. That’s SC though!

Have taken a shot at the odds for the 2020 Season... Hope you enjoy!!

2020 SCS Premier League Odds

$3.50 - Bomber18
Bomber18 once again tops the preseason odds. The 2016 Premier League Winner looked to have one hand on the cup throughout most of last season. However once the Preliminary Finals arrived, and boasting home ground advantage, The Jibrangers where jumped by the ever consistent Jaca’s Attackers who went on to win it all. Rumors around the clubrooms where the Jibrangers got a bit ahead of themselves and let an opportunity slip. Have regrouped in 2020 and look primed to make up for last season.
Form: 55 (2019), 228 (2018), 3,775 (2017), 530 (2016)

$3.85 - jaca
Drawing comparisons to the Western Bulldogs of 2016, A good but non-convincing regular season saw The Attackers started the finals in 6th spot easily accounting for the Muppets F.C. But it was the Semi Final that was truly impressive knocking over the highly fancied Goodie’s Guns. This certainly got the Football world’s attention and set up a mouth-watering Prelim against The Jibrangers in which Jacca’s Attackers came out firing and shocked them to move on to the Big Dance. Here we witnessed one of the great Grand Finals in history which came right down until the final minutes and resulted in Jaca’s first Premiership. Will be very tough to beat in 2020… But now the Attackers are the Hunted!! Can they do what no other team has managed to do and go back to back?
Form: 2,358 (2019), 5,112 (2018), 4,020 (2017), 1,400 (2016)

$4.25 - Goodie's Guns
A blistering regular season from Goodie’s Guns set themselves up for a real crack at their maiden Premiership in 2019. However things fell apart in a big way with the Guns going out in straight sets without firing a shot (See what I did there, lol) proving regular season records mean nothing once the Finals arrive. This triggered a mini review for a club that is always used to being at the top. The review looked to improve player management during the season in a bid to go all the way in 2020. Regarded as one the absolute best coaches in the competition, Coach Tim will be hard to beat in 2020 with the lessons he learned in 2019.
Form: 253 (2019), 402 (2018), 7,008 (2017), 1,940 (2016)

$5.00 - Courtesans
The surprise packet of 2019, Courtesans stormed through the regular season with an impressive 12-5 record. But as finals arrived… He kicked it up yet another gear and was definitely the team the public was rooting for to win it all. Coach Keith threw everything at it in the Grand Final but unfortunately came up just short going down by just 27 in one of the all-time classic Grand Final’s. Has beefed up the high performance department in 2020 and word is they have undergone some high altitude training to try gain that extra edge in 2020. Will Courtesans take it that one step further in 2020 and win it all?
Form: 1,250 (2019), 5,364 (2018), 36,407 (2017), 755 (2016)

$6.00 - madmunza
After failing to make the finals in the Champions League in 2019, madmunza finds himself in the Premier League in 2020. A very consistent team, always in the very top bracket of coaches. You can count on coach Matt’s team being a very real threat in 2020. May need to inject some new tactics into the game plan to dominate in the Premier League though. Sleep on them at your own peril.
Form: 2,919 (2019), 178 (2018), 4,909 (2017), 2,996 (2016)

$6.75 - Tails
Another newcomer to the Premier League, Tails surprised all in 2019 and had an outstanding year in Division 5, falling just short of making the Grand Final with a nail biting Prelim loss. It’s a big step up to the Premier League… But coach Adrian looks to have a few tricks up his sleeve spending a large chunk of the off-season learning new tactics in the NBA with one of the most successful teams. What new tricks will he have learned in a stellar offseason abroad?
Form: 344 (2019), 7,280 (2018), 4,297 (2017), 1,681 (2016)

$9.25 – Erich1036
After going down in the Champions League Grand Final last year, Coach Caleb finds his team back in the familiar Premier League after a year away. This demotion will certainly leave fire in his belly and we should expect him to burst out of the gates to start 2020. The bookies have surely got this one wrong, Looks very tasty as this price.
Form: 3,565 (2019), 811 (2018), 15,666 (2017), 2,105 (2016)

$11.00 - Blaze
Bowing out in an away Semi Final in 2019 and not having the kind of year he hoped. Coach Tom will be looking for a response from his troops in 2020. Very Up & Down from year to year, some might even say Jekyll & Hyde like… Blaze looks set for a huge 2020 if past form is an indicator. Thus looking like a good investment at $11.00. Be on the lookout for a much improved team!!
Form: 10,732 (2019), 1,386 (2018), 7,572 (2017), 2,509 (2016)

$13.00 – Ben’s Beasts
2019 was nothing short of a disaster for the mighty Ben’s Beasts. After claiming his maiden Premiership in 2018, Big things where expected of Coach Ben’s team for 2019… But he instead joined that illustrious group of coaches that wins a premiership & then fails to even make finals the next year. This has seen coaches get sacked in past, but the Front office is sticking put with their man convinced they can right the ship in 2020. You don’t just fluke a Premiership after all. Jump on at this price.
Form: 8,440 (2019), 664 (2018), 20,758 (2017), 14,364 (2016)
The LITS betting market did a great job with the preseason odds! :p

Congrats @Bomber18

Huge win and very well deserved. You’ve had an amazing season where you’ve just gone from strength to strength. I would have liked to be a lot more competitive but my POD’s decided otherwise! 😆

Thanks to all in this league for another awesome season. Here’s hoping my runners-up effort is enough to get me a spot in this amazing league next season! 🤞🏻

Rather proud of my self for my Pre-season Odds, Always thought you'd bounce back from a disappointing finish to last season and go one step further this year.

If I'm lucky enough to be in the PL next year... I'll gladly take another stab at the Pre-season Odds.

Well done mate on taking out the title!! Very well deserved!!

And well done @Ben's Beasts on also making the big dance!! Came up just a fraction short this year but I'm sure you will be right up again next season. Your odds definitely won't so generous next season, lol
