@Manikato
Not necessarily the right forum I know - but did you see any of the Sainters-Dockers match?
It's a different Ross.
Still lots of defensive pressure but now fast ball movement.
The old Ross teams weren't that fun to watch. If rnd.1 is any indication the new Ross team will be.

Hi @Rupert I did not get an alert so missed your post (needs to be Manikato1). Yes Ross flagged the stoppage game was not for him and it was going to be about ball movement. I posted an interview he did preseason saying that. Always knew he would improve the Saints but with 3 wins "Happy Ross" is happy to roll with it. His stint in the media probably helping him a little with that. If he racks up 3 losses in a row will be interesting to see if Grumpy Ross returns. The Saints were the perfect set up for him. Plenty of mature experienced players that needed a gameplan. That is his forte. And he has watched the game develop during his time off and then crafted his own version of the semi lock down defence but with quick rebound twist.

Enjoy the ride Rupert!

Ahhhh, Manikato1 - silly me
I'm currently in a state of disbelief. To be 3-0 on top of the ladder after hoping for a 1-2 start is hard to grasp. For a Ross team to play watchable footy even under pressure is more so. Believe it or not, he said that the Sainters let the Bombers back in to the game because they went conservative and stopped playing "Saints footy".
Ross really is cheerful Ross atm isn't he?
I will enjoy the ride. Thank you. And thanks for not adding the qualifier "while it lasts".

According to CD's Hoyney on SEN:
the Sainters ability to move the ball from defence into attack is the best by any team since Geelong in 2009; they are using the boundary a lot - and if they keep going the way they started it will be the highest boundary use ever, even higher than the Malthouse Collingwood teams

the Sainters are ranked #3 at defending ball movement and even though conceding the most marks are conceding the fewest metres per disposal

Possible Dalvin Cook up for trade by the Vikings. Not sure he suits new coach style. Suspect they want a smash them up the middle drive them back 4 yards kind of running back which Cook is not. He is much more the run wide and cut type of RB. Mattison re signed however and he is the smash up the middle type.

Albert Breer of SI.com writes that Vikings RB Dalvin Cook is a name watch as a potential trade target this weekend.

Breer explains that the Vikings have been open with Cook about the situation and are still “receptive to the idea of bringing him back.” However, Breer says it won’t be at his current salary of $11 million.

As of now, the Vikings have yet to shop Cook around the league in trade talks, but should Minnesota select a running back in the first three rounds, Breer is willing to bet they would be willing to trade the veteran on Day Three of the draft.

The Vikings re-signed RB Alexander Mattison to a two-year, $7 million deal this off-season, which has led to questions about Cook’s future with the team.
