Melbourne really have underachieved since winning the flag. After 2021, I'm sure most of us would have expected Melbourne to win another flag due to the quality of their list.

I'm just about old enough to remember the 99 prelim final.

If you'd told me then it would take this long to play another game with that level of consequence, I would have laughed you out of town. But here we are.

Boy does it feel sweet.

Doubt I'll have any luck but I'll be moving heaven and earth to get into the Gabba next Saturday. It's been a long time since I felt like this about my team!

Still plenty of time. Hawthorn took five years to come back and win it again, Geelong a decade. And they have six years of Oliver and Trac left!
