some good posts about how to start building the team to full premium

thought I had better look at my own

Team Value : 126,590,000.00

Have some money in the Bank

Sels - will need to be upgraded

TAA - keep
Justin - sideways trade at the right time
Saliba - hasn't delivered what I was hoping for (yet)

Havertz - keep
Maddison - keep

Buonanotte - bringing in for the next round, probably dreaming if I think I can eventually get him to Palmer
Barnes - keep or trade to Bruno/Foden

Haaland - keep
Solanke - will need to be upgraded
Calvert-Lewin - refer to Saliba

Bench

Whiteman is my donut

Harwood-Bellis - making some ok cash
van den Berg - needs a move on to make some ok cash

Partey - hasn't delivered what I was hoping for (yet)

2 downgrades + Bank to complete the jigsaw
Definitely a productive exercise to map out how you get to your desired final team. Good to have some money in the bank too. Tied in with that analysis is how many trades you have. Seems like you have a decent foundation in each position but will need to keep playing the break even game for a bit.

I play for fun but my competitive edge always comes out :)

In hindsight already missed a couple of good cash cows , can't dwell on that now though

31 trades left (3 boosts to go)

I just need to ignore looking at Palmer's scores for about 6-8 weeks , bit of work to go before I even look like getting him in though , just hope his scoring drops off and he gets to a achievable price to eventually bring in

Just try and build it bit by bit

I think that is the best strategy you have. Apart from that one insane half of footy and the game against the worst defence in the league (Wolves), his scores have not been that great. Of course i may be picking out stats to suit my own narrative but i dont think he is worth the price tag now and in all likelihood he will come down in both points averaged and price wise. Yes, it would be awesome if you owned him but he is just one player in a team of 11 that you field each round. As a captain loop/selection he is a bit more valuable than just anyone in your team but its not worth uprooting your team to get him now. The damage has been done, the points scored and the value just about maxed out. So i think its great that you dont even look at his scores for a while.

I also like the 'build it up bit by bit' mantra. Thats what gets you a strong final team, little increments of improvement each round and eventually you have a team full of guns. Chasing big names/points is often not the right way to go. Of course, if you time it exactly right, it can work in your favour but most of the time its just about making smart trades and sticking to a process of subtle improvement and that ends up yielding great results.

Best of luck!

Cheers mate , appreciate the detailed response.

I looked at getting him in after his monster score but would have meant derailing my entire team , so took a different path , so fingers crossed.

Have a bit of a plan written down for the next few weeks so will see if I can stick with it.

Good luck to your team as well.
