And so another season comes to a close with Spurs providing the normal shambolic finish for our supporters.
When they appointed Ange (let’s just use AP from now on) I had some serious concerns. Not for Spurs but for AP. Spurs can break anyone and I thought AP could be on the receiving end of something no one but a Spurs supporter can understand. To his credit, I think he has shown he is more than capable of being an EPL manager. And the fact is that it is a plus that when he inevitably got “Spurred”, it was towards the end of the season. It means he has time now to go away and evaluate the situation and reset for next season. Quite possible that next season is the deal breaker. Either AP will be able to construct the team he wants and impart into them the level of performance required or he will quickly realise that it is a lost cause and will leave the club.
Leaving will go against everything he wants to do. AP wants to win. But I think there is a good chance that a club that wants to win and wants a quality manager will see the opportunity and come knocking on his door. Should that happen Spurs will become a bigger farce than they already are. A real possibility they will be a top 6 EPL club that no one will want to manage because who would want to manage a team that is too scared to win or just doesn’t care enough to win. The Club is just satisfied believing they know they are good enough to win. Actually doing it is not necessary.
150 in the final round to end up finishing 26th. Happy with that in my first year. Definitely took away a lot of things that will help me in future years. Main one being that I attacked cash gen a bit too hard early on. Team value was the highest in the comp at one point but then everyone caught up as my trade count forced me to play more passive, missing out on some big cash generators.
Thanks for all those who provided information, team selections, and trade ideas throughout the season. See you all next year!
Long gruelling season but very happy to finish top 10 for this season. SAVE TRADES...has to be my mantra for EPL. So many injuries/benchings and DGWs change the landscape very quickly
