Have only seen the mini for game 3 so these observations should perhaps be taken with more of a grain of salt, but here we go anyway:
* Narine is a big watch if they want to keep rolling the dice on him as an opener. The problem with him being run out is that it doesn't show if there's anything particularly exploitable as far as where to bowl to him.. although it does show that even after many years as a pinch hitter he still runs like a bowler!
* Natarajan doesn't look like he so much as attempted a yorker. Got good results but for me a lot of his competitive advantage is gone if he isn't doing that. That was his greatest strength.
* Russell remains the ultimate enigma. I guarantee everyone will bring him in now for three 0s on the bounce. Notably, the bowling role is less prominent with Starc in the side, and KKR used H Rana for the 20th who bowled a superb final over. I think whether you get on board depends a lot on how much you trust the batting role - and some days the top order will probably come off and he won't get a look in. It also surprised me that SRH didn't try bowling short to him all that much - I remember a couple of years ago he would really struggle with short bowling, although maybe Kolkata's square boundaries are too short to have it open up wicket taking chances.
* Speaking of guys with explosive batting roles, Klaasen might be even better and more consistent. Both because he bats higher and looked to be hitting better balls for six - Russell got three gift half volleys to kick-start him but Klaasen was hitting good length balls to all parts. There's a six he hit off Starc over cover in the 19th which is just beautiful!
* And speaking of Starc, his figures look poor but he did have Abhishek dropped on 0 by the keeper... Both he and Cummins off to fairly inauspicious starts, although the latter's captaincy is hard to assess just from the highlights.
* I fully expect this one to blow up on my face, but Marco Jansen looks an absolute shadow of himself. Looks like he's just putting the ball there rather than really bending his back and he was just feeding the strength of Salt early on. Very similar to the World Cup where in the big games he just kind of frozen. Very strange as he's performed in the IPL for some time now...
