9th last season (first time playing) so if you get your act together , the rest of us are in trouble 😀

So many options in IPL , local and OS it is hard to know who is a right/wrong selection.

Heap of value priced players to start this season.

Rahul has a fitness concern about him , so one to monitor.

L Yadav is a interesting one (Ave 41 last season) which is not far off DreRuss (45.3) & Hardik (43.2) though

RCB the obvious standout here with the first game in all five rounds so far (!). Might be a good team to pick a speculator from.

Brief reminder about the differences in scoring in the IPL compared to the BBL. I posted this last year, but have made an adjustment for the Impact Player rule now that we know how it works.

BATTING: basic scoring is identical, including the 20 run threshold, unfortunately. No 50/100 run bonuses.

BOWLING:
* 25 points per wicket (up from 20). No bonus for 3 or 5 wickets in a match.
* 20 points for a maiden over (up from 15)
* No points for dot balls (or penalties for extras)
* Economy bonuses remain but are slightly more valuable. They kick in at 8 RPO, but start at 10 points, up to 5 RPO being the maximum of 25.

FIELDING:
* Catches are 12 points (up from 10)
* Every player involved in a run out scores 20 points - including the keeper if they break the stumps

TEAMS/SQUADS:
Teams named at the toss, 30 minutes before game start (11:30pm AEST most nights, 7:30pm if an early game). 11 players are named to start as well as five reserves, any of whom can be nominated as the Impact Player at any time.
Squads have up to 25 players, up to 8 of which are OS. Teams have a maximum of four OS slots, including the Impact Player.

PRICE CHANGES:
Prices don't move until three games have been played. This is distinct from three rounds - it doesn't apply this year but if a team had a double in the first two rounds, their prices would move before everyone else's.

@mike89 can you remind me of the effect of the impact player please? Are they essentially the same as an AFL substitute?

Edit: from memory there was also a tendency for particular types of players to be subbed in certain situations/at particular points in the game. Is that right?

Most teams had basically got to the point where they had a preferred 12. The actual XI is named after the toss, so if they bowl first they would name the extra bowler in that mix, and bring the batter in typically at the change of innings, and vice versa if batting first.
