So far I’ve gone odunze to kupp and hill to rice and immediately broken both

So yes it is me lol

Lookout chase or similar whom I move rice to
Does Rice need to be traded. Is he really hurt?
It appears players come back very quickly eg Love who only had 2 weeks off for a sprained MCL. Traded him out, would have kept him if I had known he would only be out for 2 weeks. Bought in Richardson who now appears to be hurt 😪

Suspected ACL Kaz. They are usually pretty accurate in early diagnosis. Just waiting for confirmation at this stage I'm afraid to say.

Out: Kupp and Richardson
In: Jennings and Allen
View attachment 78655

Solid setup but have missed the big scores at RB (Barkley, Henry, Kamara) and for captaincy contributing to the current rank.
Another poor captaincy score again with Allen as C on debut. Pacheco/Robinson over Henry to start continues to hurt as I was unable to grab Henry in any format. 329 with T Hill and St Brown to come.

15/395 Allen

Ended up gaining +3 benching Kamara with his hip and rib injuries limiting him during the week. He ended up scoring his best ever against the Falcons. It would've been great to have both though with Hall playing bad and Allen taking over most of the day.
Trading out Richardson was the right move but not to Allen

Amon to play.

Does anyone else get the feeling that KC are perhaps having too much fun?
Not exactly trolling us but saying: "look what we can do, we don't even need Mahomes to win"
From 2018-2022 they won on the back of Mahomes' passing.
They averaged 28+ ppg with Mahomes' averaging 35+ pass attempts per game.

Then last year they averaged only 21.8 ppg and Mahomes only 25 attempts per game.
They won off the back of their defence which limited opponents to only 17.3 ppg after conceding 21+ ppg in previous seasons.

Now this year is more of the same.
KC are scoring 23.0 ppg and their opponents 18.0 ppg.
Mahomes is averaging 30 attempts per game - more than last year but with an arguably better receiving corps - with his 39 last week an outlier.
Instead of throwing deep, his average depth of target is the lowest of his career and, after wk.3, 3rd lowest of all QBs.
2018: 9.1 yds. 2019: 8.8, 2020: 8.3, 2021: 7.3, 2022: 7.3, 2023: 6.5, 2024: 5.2

That's a complete change of game plan.
I have read commentary often over the past few years on how Mahomes and KC have been able to change the gameplan several times over the past 6 years. I think it comes from Mahomes ability to excel at so many different aspects of the QB game. He can get out of the pocket when pressured, throw laser passes to just about anyone he likes AND he can do it consistently. Not surprisingly many teams spend lots of time thinking up tactics to kill his effectiveness so I guess changing plans goes with the territory.

Back in 2021 against the Eagles, the defense stopped trying to put him under pressure and just dropped into defending against the throw at all costs. You can take all the time you like Patrick you just won’t have anyone to throw to. That worked for a while and into the start of 2022 as well. To week 9 2022 he completed 71 of 106 passes against two-deep defense for 906 yards, 523 air yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. But then he and KC just reinvented themselves. From week 10 to the Super Bowl he completed 94 of 124 passes against split safeties for 1,249 yards, 752 air yards, six touchdowns and one interception.

Andy Reid just changed the game plan and Mahomes is so good he can play anything required. Apparently the gameplan used horizontal and vertical threats to stretch the coverage and having them run patterns that confused the defense. And Mahomes passing is so elite he only needs half a chance to hit a target.

When you have a great strategist combined with great QB that can do anything and do it well, I am not surprised they can reinvent their gameplan on a regular basis. And I think Mahomes does not care about what his role is in the plan as long as KC win.

Went with

Hill > Rice (reversed it between him & JJeff twice) lmao
AJ Brown > Jennings, but was lucky that Jennings (20) kicked in for the DNP (Rice)

Saquon (C) - 434/13 - Bates, ASB & LaPorta to play. Hopefully make up some ground this week after a slow ish start (ranked 800)

Dobbins & Rice look like trade outs this week - will decide after lockout

What on earth has happened to Mark Andrews this season? Is he just a blocking TE now to help open up the lanes for Henry & co with the running game?

Mahomes has been a frustrating hold. It was interesting reading Manikato's post regarding his acceptance of continually changing his approach to the coach's game plan. It's worked so far at the expense of seeing Mahomes in full flight. I miss those long, beautiful balls into the outfield. Reluctantly ended up selling him this week because he seems intent of prioritising "winning" over my fantasy performance. Shame on you Patrick! ;):ROFLMAO:

You never know, things might change if Rice misses a lot of games.
Rice has been the key WR in the short-passing game: he catches almost everything - 24/29 this year, 79/102 last year - and his YAC of 7.8 is better than any other receiver who has had anywhere near that many catches.
You have to go down to J Reed, 26th in receptions, for a better YAC stat.
So who could/would be able to take his role?
I don't see anyone else. Kelce is, as far as I know, more of a mid-distance, middle of the field receiver.
But I am quite happy to be corrected on that.

Yeah, not sure Rupert. This is the reason I bought Rice in this week - his usage made him a good option. I read this morning Reid is going to spread the load over multiple Receivers and not solely rely on rookie Worthy. Anyone for Ju Ju?. Surely Kelce gets more touches but of course I sold him for McBride last week. The joys of supercoach. I'm sure Mahomes will have his "5 touchdown" games and Kelce will come good but they are a hard watch ATM. I'm trying to pivot to an Allen, Jackson, Daniels trio. Here's hoping I don't break them!

I think the current gameplan of deep coverage has limited the big passing plays in recent years. Of course there are other factors at play, with the quality of the offensive line also a big issue and the quality of your WR. Rubbish offensive line means pressure on the QB and your passing goes down hill.

Take Russell Wilson as an example. Up until 2021 he lead the NFL in all kinds of long passing stats (over 25 yards). Completions, completion rate (41%), yards and touch downs.

Yet stats show for the combined 2022 and 2023 seasons when he went to Denver he became Mr Checkdown with 112 attempts from 1099 dropbacks for a rate of 10.19%. Before this when he was in Seattle it was a 5.8% checkdown rate.

QB that can run also feature in the lowest checkdown rates. In the combined 2022/2023 seasons Hurts was 4.47%, Jackson 4.59%. Mahomes went 5.86%
