would it be a good idea to move jackson to ruck and get caldwell in for gawn and next week go tholstrup and dowling into xerri the week after? not sure he scores well against grundy and caldwell has melbourne

would leave me with 2 trades and a weak m8(mckercher) and 2 trades left with not much cash left

I would hold Gawn if possible - he seems on a mission to be back next week.

Think Gov might be out for awhile - broken rib/ punctured lung & our season is done/ coach sacked today … wouldn’t be surprised if he is put in cotton wool for the year tbh

If Zac Fisher is back then I'd be reluctant to trade Gawn at all. Tholstrup can cover Gawn this week.

I'd be looking to hold those trades & looking to improve a Fisher/McKercher type in a few weeks.

It all depends how long hes out, if its a fortnight and you lose say 50 points a round the trade in the bank will be far more valuable.

In Gawn’s case I’m also mindful that he’s quite possibly the best R1 for the run home too … so we may be downgrading for rounds 20+, which o***ets any points gain nearer term.

Need some sage advice - was originally hunting rank (still a chance at top 1k ranked 1,076) but also really need the cash from one of my leagues 😅
I've locked in first place already so can cruise for next 3 weeks - is it worth holding Rankine just to have him as a sneaky POD for finals? Also have Gawn and Heeney to deal with but think I'll hold both with cover. Wouldn't have rankine for the first round of finals tho ...
5 trades left atm without changes

If top spot is locked, I'd hold Rankine and see how the next few weeks unfold. Who knows what carnage is still to come, and it might be having him at the end of the year saves your finals run.
If you week 1 finals match up looks close and you need the extra premium you can still pull the trigger then.. but if there is no pressing need to trade then I'd wait till the latest moment possible when you know as much information as you can.

If you're valuing the cash league over your ranking then I'd hold Rankine and use the next 3 weeks to use some of those 5 trades to turn bench rookies into a bench premo that can cover Rankine first week of finals and then be bench cover for the remaining finals

Cheers both, very helpful - I have the cash to turn Freijah straight into Simpkin so that actually might work well. Rowell-sized issue in the midfield also needs addressing but Simpkin move would also help looping there later down the track

Honestly I wouldn't make any trades right now - there is no guarantee the guy you bring in doesn't get injured, or you don't end up with other issues. We've seen a stack of popular premiums go down this week, and that could well happen again with the way the concussion rules work and the risk of suspension. Your next couple of weeks are meaningless so just see what unfolds and then you can target your trades as needed.

This is the answer that makes most sense to my situation as well, 4 trades left and coverage on all lines so feels like it might be tempting fate to bring in someone who may very well be injured in 2-3wks and wasting that trade.

It really depends on your team's current situation :- how many players you are missing this week/ how much cash you have/ what "must have" players you are missing.

This week is a golden opportunity to rise up the rankings if you have avoided most of the carnage & have trades in hand.

Post your team up to see your whole situation (y)

Also depends on goals... overall rank, league wins, or best overall rank while still trying to win leagues.. if leagues are key then it adds a lot of variables around match ups etc.
This is the time of year to really make a decision on what matters, because chasing a few hundred ranks overall can quickly derail a league result, but focussing on leagues could easily see a ranking slide if you aren't capitalising!

I am a Touk owner and am a bit surprised at how little discussion there is of (pure) midfield options in this thread.

Maybe there are fewer Touk owners than I had thought, and/or those who have him have even bigger fires to deal with!

Nothing aside from personal pride to play for. Thinking of opening up a D/M bench link with Davies to Humphries. Miller most likely has to go which gives me around $630k. Unsure if I should spend up on an LDU/Dunkley type or search for value. Also considering a triple trade involving acquiring Philipou and SDK; perhaps trading Livingstone out as I'll probably end up with enough doughnuts soon.
11 trades! Wow.
