Three games against WCE next year? :p

Might give us a chance to snag a few more wins.

Ch 7 news advising North have sold games to WCE. They fly to WA and play WC and Dockers on consecutive weeks staying here for the entire fortnight. One of the games will be played in Bunbury two hours south of Perth. Deal for next 3 years.

And only 45 minutes away from Busselton for a nice long walk along the jetty to think about what they have done.

North Melb.

Heck of a lot warmer than Brooke Street Pier in the middle of winter.

Four games in Cairns, instead of Hobart, would suit me plenty.

The AFL could play them at 4:40pm, the optional time slot for FNQ.

Noice! I'm in Peppy Grove beach so I might have to get along to that Bunbury game to support the mighty Weagles. :)

NM can fly Jetfail Melbourne direct to Busselton to take in that walk. They will have to pay for the privilege of walking the jetty though. But there is a brewery directly opposite the jetty where they can drown their sorrows.

And just to clarify the games will be sold to the WA government not WC and will be considered home games for NM. WA government sees the Bunbury game as an opportunity to boost tourism in the South West and wine regions. Might be tough getting a ticket to that game as I do not think the ground at Bunbury would hold many. Maybe 10k? but that is a guess.

Anyone got any thoughts about the next wave of premiums coming through?
Who is likely to jump up?

I like Will Day, Callaghan, McKercher/Wardlaw, Ashcroft etc
Any others you like?

Jai Newcombe I think has the ability to reach that top echelon of premium mids within the game.

Has shown he has the scoring potential but seems to be a slow started so might be an upgrade target.

Finished off last season very strongly and there is a sense of deja vu about it all as many jumped on in 2024 after a strong finish to 2023.

Seems to be a bit of a pattern to his slow starts and strong finishes. The table below represents this;

Few premiums in that lot but mostly upgrade targets. Smith and Coleman probably the main two that immediately come to mind. I don't think we'll be able to truly assess the impacts until the fixture drops and we see where the byes are..

These 4 midfield prospects that will almost certainly be taken in the first 10 picks of the draft look SC relevant for next year :-

Levi Ashcroft

• Age: 18
• Height: 179 cm
• Position: Midfielder
Expected SuperCoach Outcome for 2025:
In his rookie year, Levi Ashcroft has the potential to become a valuable SuperCoach player, particularly for those seeking a high-floor rookie in the midfield. He projects to average 65-80 points per game in 2025, assuming he gets consistent game time. His skill in both contested and offensive play suggests he could develop into a solid midfield scorer over time, especially valuable for managers looking to round out their rosters with a young, high-upside player.

Finn O’Sullivan

• Age: 18
• Height: 182 cm
• Position: Midfielder
Expected SuperCoach Outcome for 2025:
Finn O’Sullivan’s efficient, high-impact play makes him a valuable SuperCoach prospect, especially for managers looking for a dependable, multi-faceted midfielder. His ability to create scoring opportunities, tackle, and execute plays under pressure suggests he could average 60-75 points per game in his first year, with long-term potential as a consistent SuperCoach pick.

Sid Draper

• Age: 18
• Height: 182 cm
• Position: Midfielder
Expected SuperCoach Outcome for 2025:
Sid Draper is anticipated to be a strong SuperCoach addition in 2025, especially for managers seeking a well-rounded, high-output midfielder. With his ability to gather disposals, tackle, and apply pressure, he’s expected to average 65-80 points per game in his debut season. Draper’s dedication to his fitness and his balanced contributions make him an ideal long-term SuperCoach pick for those seeking a reliable midfielder who can impact multiple areas of the game.

Jagga Smith

• Age: 18
• Height: 181 cm
• Position: Midfielder
Expected SuperCoach Outcome for 2025:
Jagga Smith is anticipated to be a strong addition to SuperCoach rosters in 2025, particularly for managers looking for a reliable and high-effort midfielder. His ability to win contested possessions and maintain high disposal efficiency suggests he could average 70-85 points per game in his debut season, depending on his role. Smith’s balanced contributions and consistency make him a potential long-term SuperCoach option for those seeking a strong, dependable player in their lineup.

How has the footy world allowed Opening Round to return? It’s been so disappointing to see basically zero heat from the media on what is an absolute abortion of a concept

Just have a split Round 1 with Brisbane, Sydney, Gold Coast & GWS home games on the 1st weekend and the remaining 5 games on the 2nd weekend if you want to give the Northern states clean air opening the season.

Fixtures will be interesting to see. I wonder if the Thursday night and Sunday evening games with travel thrown in will affect rest days. St Kilda played 3 games in 11 days this year and got pummeled in game three by the Bulldogs. Will we see more of these situations. No doubt if the AFL follows the NFL philosophy with scheduling- which is money comes first, we might see a number of these multiple games with short breaks. But of course the AFL is all for player welfare isn't it. As for opening round be interesting to see if they address that anomaly we had this year where some teams had already had two breaks before some teams had even had one.
