For those whose season is largely over, or for anyone interested to play.

Most competitions need people to remember to submit their picks each week, or they are largely out.
So let's test drive this model, where people can enter in week 2, or miss a week, and still have some chance to win.

Your nominal budget is $1,500,000 but you can spend more, or less than this amount.

You pick 1 to 6 players.
If you pick 2 players or more, you must have at least 2 players priced at $400,000+.
You pick 1 player as Captain. If you're Captain is a late out, and you haven't replaced him, you get your most expensive player as a replacement C.
It's rolling lockout throughout the whole Round, so make as many changes as you like.
Scoring is just normal SC scoring, including price changes, that affect your value for the following week.

If you spend over your $1,500,000 budget you will lose 1 point for every $4,000 over, or part thereof.
Spend $1,750,100 and you will lose $250,100 / 4,000 = 62.525, so you will lose 63 points off your weekly total.

Spend under your $1,500,000 budget, and you get the following bonuses:
For every $200 under (no part thereof!) your budget for next week increases by $100.
For every $10,000 under (no part thereof!) you will receive 1 point added to your weekly total.
Spend $1,400,000 and your budget next week goes up ($100,000 / 2 =) $50,000, plus whatever other changes your selected players have. You will also receive (100,000 / 10,000 =) 10 bonus points.

If one of your players is a late out, you have the option to replace them from any players who haven't started their game yet, or just have the dollars put back into your budget, with the accompanying bonuses.

For those that didn't enter in week 1 (Round 21) look at the example for Coach D below in post #3. You can still enter, and only have a small disadvantage, as you have a bigger budget!

You will be expected to do your own score and budget calculations!!!

Honesty system applies, but random checks will be carried out.

I will tabulate the results once you have done your calculations.

Four example teams from last week:

Coach A

Laird (C) - $686,800 - 144 x 2 = 288 (+$15,900)
Miller - $649,700 - 153 (+$17,600)
JHFrancis - $258,300 - 94 (+$16,400)

Total $1,594,800 - 535 - (+$49,900)

Penalties + adjustments
Points adjustment = $94,800 over budget --> 94,800 / 4,000 = -23.7 (rounded up =) -24 + 535 = 511
Base Salary = $1,500,000 + $49,900 = $1,549,900

Going into next week Coach A has 511 points and a budget of $1,549,900

Coach B

Merrett (C) - $640,400 - 140 x 2 = 280 (+$15,100)
Lipinski - $421,600 - 85 (+$17,000)
Daniher - $281,000 - 61 (-$4,800)
Johnson - $123,900 - 77 (+$59,100)

Total $1,466,900 - 503 - (+$86,400)

Penalties + adjustments
Points adjustment = $33,100 under budget --> 33,100 / 10,000 = +3.31 (rounded down =) +3 + 503 = 506
Base Salary = $1,500,000 + $86,400 = $1,586,400
Unspent budget = $33,100 / 200 x 100 = $16,550 (rounded down =) $16,500
New budget $1,586,400 + $16,500 = $1,602,900

Going into next week Coach B has 506 points and a budget of $1,602,900

Coach C

Neale (C) - $594,900 - 110 x 2 = 220 (+$2,400)
Cerra - $415,600 - 113 (+$30,200)
Mathieson - $337,500 - 89 (+$44,800)
Burgoyne - $171,900 - 85 (+$49,200)

Total $1,519,900 - 507 - (+$126,600)

Penalties + adjustments
Points adjustment = $19,900 over budget --> 19,900 / 4,000 = -4.975 (rounded up =) -5 + 507 = 502
Base Salary = $1,500,000 + $126,600 = $1,626,600

Going into next week Coach C has 507 points and a budget of $1,626,600

Coach D

Coach D did not play last week, but wants to join this week.
His score and budget coming into this week look like this.

Total $0 - 0 - +/-$0

Penalties and adjustments
Points adjustment = $1,500,000 under budget --> $1,500,000 / 10,000 = +150 (rounded down = +150 + 0 = 150
Base Salary = $1,500,000 + $0 = $1,500,000
Unspent budget = $1,500,000 x 0.5 = $750,000 rounded down = $750,000
New budget $1,500,000 + $750,000 = $2,250,000

Going into next week Coach D has 150 points and a budget of $2,250,000

So go ahead and post, and edit your teams.

It's a balance between making dollars, spending the right amount, finding a good C, and Moneyballing.

Remember it's your job to calculate your score, and your budget change. If you need help, just ask.

It's better to just do an edit to make any changes, rather than keep re-posting your team.

Sounds fun. Took me a while to get my head around what I think might be the right strategy for this, I think the pricing error with Laird in the first option threw me a bit as the best way to tackle things when I was comparing possibilities (he only increased in price by $15,900 last week, not $70,100 which just seemed wrong). Tried picking a few different players to other entries so far to keep things interesting.

M Redman $576,700 - C
R Marshall $480,900
E Gulden $447,000
T Sonsie $178,600
E Hollands $123,900
J Serong $117,300

Total: $1,924,400 (107 point penalty)

No cash gain possible with Serong which may be "so wrong" in terms of overall strategy (yeah, that pun has been used more than a few times), but I didn't like any others on the bubble / good BE, so will cop it. Not expecting a huge score from him, but he only needs to score 30 points for it to be worth taking a 6th player, taking a punt he can do it (no guarantees). Thought I'd choose someone different to Teakle, who is already in a few teams.

The huge point penalty with my team will be hard to overcome and still score well compared to other teams, just hoping I picked players who can score high enough to do it. If not, it was still a bit of fun. I like the risk/reward with how this is set up which enables a lot of possibilities for doing well.

Edit: Hadn’t seen wogi's team before picking, who posted a few seconds before me. One less unique player now.

Sounds fun.

Marshall (C) - $480,900
Carmichael - $163,700
Zorko - $353,700
Hollands - $123,900
J. Serong - $117,300
Worrell - $123,900

Total $1,363,400

Reserve Cash - $136,600
Points - 13
Cash - $68,300
Needs one more $400,000 player,

You pick 1 to 6 players.
If you pick 2 players or more, you must have at least 2 players priced at $400,000+.

Fixed now, thanks.
My usual problem. I need to remember, less speed, more accuracy.

If @wogitalia doesn't see the notice, and edit his team, his side will stand, but he will be "charged" $400,000 for Zorko, instead of the current $353,700.
