no probs , looks like that might be the only "regional" venue this season after having a quick look , couple of games down at Geelong again , still a couple of TBC (maybe the Gold Coast again)
Still quite a few "TBC" venues so I imagine there will be some regional games among them ... pretty sure that some will be played in Canberra too

Melbourne Renegades re-sign English bowler Harry Gurney as clubs turn their focus to signing internationals players for BBL|09.

Gurney is just the sixth overseas player signed on for BBL|09, alongside English trio Jos Buttler (Sydney Thunder), Jofra Archer (Hobart Hurricanes) and Tom Curran (Sydney Sixers) and Afghan duo Rashid Khan (Adelaide Strikers) and Mohammad Nabi (Renegades).

England’s national players, particularly all-format stars like Buttler and (potentially) Archer may not be available for large chunks of the tournament due to England’s tour of South Africa (December 26 - February 16)
England's first warm-up game on their South African tour starts on the 17th December, doubt Buttler will play any games for the Thunder at all.

Nathan Coulter-Nile is the latest player to depart the KFC Big Bash League's most successful club after the paceman left the Perth Scorchers to sign a long-term deal with the Melbourne Stars.

The Stars confirmed today that Coulter-Nile, who featured in Australia's recent World Cup campaign in the United Kingdom, had joined fellow Western Australians Lance Morris and Clint Hinchliffe in signing with last season's runners-up ahead of BBL09.

Former Test batsman Hilton Cartwright had already crossed from the Scorchers to the Stars earlier this year, while Shaun Marsh also departed for the champion Melbourne Renegades.

Sydney Thunder has also announced that Callum Ferguson has taken over from Shane Watson as captain of the club, with Chris Green to be his deputy.

Adelaide Strikers

Squad: Wes Agar, Alex Carey, Travis Head, Rashid Khan (AFG), Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Michael Neser, Liam O'Connor, Matt Short, Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake, Cameron Valente, Jake Weatherald, Jon Wells, Cameron White, Nick Winter

In: Cameron White (Renegades)

Out: Colin Ingram

Unsigned from BBL|08: David Grant, Michael Cormack

Roster spots to fill: Two

Internationals signed: One

There has been minimal player changes at the Strikers so far this off-season, with the departure of South African batsman Colin Ingram effectively o***et by the recruitment of veteran Cameron White from the Renegades. With only two spots left to fill, the main focus now will be on who the Strikers sign as their second international player, with a top-quality batsman their most likely target.

Brisbane Heat

Squad: Max Bryant, Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Sam Heazlett, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Lalor, Chris Lynn, James Pattinson, James Peirson, Jack Prestwidge, Matt Renshaw, Mark Steketee, Mitch Swepson.

In: Nil

Out: Brendon McCullum

Unsigned from BBL|08: Brendan Doggett, Matt Kuhnemann, Alex Ross, Mujeeb Ur Rahman (AFG)

Roster spots to fill: Five

Internationals signed: Nil

The Heat have taken a fresh approach to BBL|09 with veteran Brendon McCullum departing and Darren Lehmann brought in as head coach. With two overseas spots available, Lehmann has targeted World Cup winning skipper Eoin Morgan as a possible recruit, while South African duo JP Duminy and David Miller have also been discussed. The club is also confident that Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman will return for his second BBL season.

Hobart Hurricanes

Squad: Qais Ahmad (AFG), Jofra Archer (ENG), George Bailey, James Faulkner, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Tom Rogers, D'Arcy Short, Aaron Summers, Matthew Wade

In: Nil

Out: Johan Botha (retired), Tymal Mills (unsigned)

Unsigned from BBL|08: Alex Doolan, Jake Doran, Jarrod Freeman, Simon Milenko, David Moody, Tim Paine, Clive Rose

Roster spots to fill: Seven

Internationals signed: Two

The Hurricanes will be reluctant to change too much after a dominant campaign in BBL|08, although the rapid rise of England star Jofra Archer could leave them without one of their best players for most of this season. Despite being contracted, Archer will be unavailable for the Hurricanes if he’s selected for England’s tour of South Africa, meaning the Canes may look elsewhere for an overseas star to fill the void. But the rest of Hobart’s core from last season remains; batting stars D’Arcy Short, Matthew Wade and George Bailey will all be back, while Afghan leggie Qais Ahmad has signed a new deal after impressing in his brief appearance last summer.

Melbourne Renegades

Squad: Cameron Boyce, Dan Christian, Tom Cooper, Zak Evans, Aaron Finch, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Harry Gurney (ENG), Sam Harper, Marcus Harris, Mackenzie Harvey, Jon Holland, Shaun Marsh, Joe Mennie, Mohammad Nabi (AFG), Kane Richardson, Will Sutherland, Beau Webster, Jack Wildermuth

In: Jake Fraser-McGurk, Shaun Marsh (Scorchers)

Out: Usman Khan Shinwari, Cameron White (Strikers)

Unsigned from BBL|08: Tim Ludeman, Chris Tremain

Roster spots to fill: Nil

Internationals signed: Two

By adding one of the most prolific batsmen in BBL history to a title-winning squad, the Renegades look well placed again this season after securing their maiden title in BBL|08. Shaun Marsh’s shock move from Perth, and his seemingly dwindling hopes of national selection, means he could well open for most of the summer when Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris are on national duty. The return to English bowler Harry Gurney is another coup for the Gades, while they’ll look to young guns like Mackenzie Harvey, Sam Harper and Jake Fraser-McGurk to fill the void in the middle order left by the departure of Cameron White.

Melbourne Stars

Squad: Hilton Cartwright, Jackson Coleman, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Ben Dunk, Peter Handscomb, Clint Hinchliffe, Nic Maddinson, Glenn Maxwell, Jonathan Merlo, Lance Morris, Marcus Stoinis, Daniel Worrall, Adam Zampa

In: Hilton Cartwright (Scorchers), Nathan Coulter-Nile (Scorchers), Clint Hinchliffe (Scorchers), Lance Morris

Out: Dwayne Bravo

Unsigned from BBL|08: Michael Beer, Jackson Bird, Scott Boland, Liam Bowe, Travis Dean, Seb Gotch, Evan Gulbis, Sandeep Lamichhane (NEP), Nick Larkin

Roster spots to fill: Five

Internationals signed: Nil

After falling agonisingly short of a maiden title last season, the Stars have already made some big off-season moves under new coach David Hussey and look set to make more before the season begins. The recruitment of Nathan Coulter-Nile from the Scorchers is a huge boost to their bowling stocks and this summer’s international schedule means star players like Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Peter Handscomb and Adam Zampa should be available for most of the tournament. Attention now turns to who will fill their international vacancies, with Nepalese spin star Sandeep Lamichhane tipped to return.

Perth Scorchers

Squad: Ashton Agar, Fawad Ahmed, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kelly, Mitchell Marsh (c), Joel Paris, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Sam Whiteman,

In: Fawad Ahmed (Thunder)

Out: Hilton Cartwright (Stars), Nathan Coulter-Nile (Stars), Michael Klinger (retired), Shaun Marsh (Renegades),

Unsigned from BBL|08: Usman Qadir (PAK), David Willey (ENG)

Roster spots to fill: Three

Internationals signed: Nil

After a last-placed finish in BBL|08, the Scorchers have lost four most established stars in the off-season and will again rely on their local talent to drag them back to the top. The exits of Shaun Marsh, Michael Klinger, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Hilton Cartwright will no doubt hurt, but the recruitment of Fawad Ahmed boosts an already impressive bowling attack that is lead by Jason Behrendorff, Jhye Richardson and AJ Tye. They’ll now look to lure some big-name internationals to boost their batting stocks, with Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis already strongly linked to the club.

Sydney Sixers

Squad: Sean Abbott, Justin Avendano, Tom Curran (ENG), Ben Dwarshuis, Jack Edwards, Mickey Edwards, Daniel Fallins, Moises Henriques, Daniel Hughes, Peter Nevill, Stephen O'Keefe, Josh Philippe, Lloyd Pope, Jordan Silk, Henry Thornton

In: Nil

Out: Nil

Unsigned from BBL|08: Joe Denly (ENG), Nathan Lyon, Greg West, James Vince (ENG)

Roster spots to fill: Three

Internationals signed: One

The Sixers exceeded expectations last season and have kept the core of their squad together so they could be well-placed for another shot at the title in BBL|09. They’ve already locked in impressive youngster Josh Philippe on a long-term deal and Englishman Tom Curran will also be back – international selection pending – after starring last season as part of a strong bowling attack. They may look abroad to boost their batting stocks, with English pair James Vince and Joe Denly both options to return, while Australian stars – and former Sixers players - Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood are also unsigned for BBL|09.

Sydney Thunder

Squad: Jos Buttler (ENG), Pat Cummins, Callum Ferguson, Chris Green, Usman Khawaja, Jay Lenton, Arjun Nair, Daniel Sams, Gurinder Sandhu, Jason Sangha

In: Nil

Out: Fawad Ahmed (Scorchers), Shane Watson (retired)

Unsigned from BBL|08: Jono Cook, Ryan Gibson, Matt Gilkes, Liam Hatcher, Nathan McAndrew, Kurtis Patterson, Sam Rainbird, Joe Root (ENG)

Roster spots to fill: Eight

Internationals signed: One

After missing finals last season and with Shane Watson and Fawad Ahmed out the door, the Thunder’s 10-man list is looking a little thin on big-name talent at this stage. Aussie stars Usman Khawaja and Pat Cummins should be available for more of the season than normal due to the international schedule this summer, but England’s tour of South Africa means the Thunder can’t rely on Jos Buttler to make a big impact this season. With eight spots on their roster still yet to be filled, we’re expecting some big announcements from Sydney’s west in the coming months.

Cheers for the squads Herbie. Quick skim of those squads suggests that Qais Ahmed and Shaun Marsh will be my first two picked for next season barring availability or injury issues.

Keenly awaiting the one day domestic comp to see which players are in form and what players are coming through in each state’s squads.

No worries , just a quick copy and paste from cricket.com.au

SMarsh will be high on my list , just hope the wicket at Marvel is better for batting.

Be interesting juggling the fixture against the Boxing Day/New Year Test team and the ODI series in India.

Media is doing a massive push for the South African players coming.

Probably only available for one regular season game and not available for finals. Makes sense given the packed schedule in the 2019/20 season.

My bad, read the month wrong for the T/20’s in South Africa. Thought they started in late January immediately after the India ODI’s.
