I guess it depends on whether we want to completely discount Connolly, or keep the option open for him to be a DGR player if named. But you're right, if we strike a line through Connolly and commit to him not being involved, we need to field 1 of Ellis/McD in which case it makes sense to have them both as the E so we can take the better of their scores.

God I never realised how much easier it is when you can move the players in your own team vs doing it from a distance!

Keepers: CLARKE, (Wade)
Bat: INGLIS, LYNN, Kerr, Trade #1, Trade #2 (McD, CONNOLLY)
Bowl: SHORT, TYE, AGAR, Trade #3, Trade #4 (Abbott, Ellis)

Kerr swings to either Bat or Bowl depending on whether we take Ellis or McD. Means our 4 trade ins don't impact that loop so we can focus on them separately to this structural set up being locked in.

If we trade Handscomb, Philippe, Stoinis, and Mujeeb, + add in our bank, we have $635,000 to spend.

Head, Hardie, Webster (top 3 in the poll) cost $390,200.

So we have $244,800 in the bank for a 4th trade, and with so many DPP players it can effectively be anyone.

We can afford Marnus, or T.Rogers if we want to add them into the mix of SGR trade in options. Given the Heat have a double upcoming, Marnus could be a good one to trade in and stash. Or we can go an additional DGR player to boost this round up.

If we can get group consensus on the above structure and trade outs, we can theoretically trade Mujeeb, Stoinis and Handscomb to 3 SS, meaning they can't get locked out and maintain max flexibility while we position players across the round for the trade ins? That way our 4 trade outs are all "on the bye" until we make each move.
That actually looks a decent setup.

Keeps Wade.

Would need to find a different trade in for Head though

Happy to lock this trade in.

Players tonight:
Clarke, McDermott, Ellis, Webster (Wade). Most have DPP. Ellis as BWL E seems locked. What do we do with the other 4 (including which lines)?
As per Chumpion's post I think

Clarke / Wade
/ McDermott (E)
/ Ellis (E)

Hard to tell , Webster might be best on Bowl line 🤔

When in doubt, I usually spread my players out (eg don’t have 3 bats playing tonight and 0 bowlers, just as an example, if they’re all DPP), and especially spread out any players that are known or potential donuts.

Does that then make bowl line :-

ABBOTT , Agar , Short , Tye , Webster / Ellis (E) , Mujeeb

Ellis works happy days

Ellis fails , trade Mujeeb and swap with Abbott.

I'll run with this. Any other thoughts re BAT or BWL for Webster?

No VC tonight unless someone feels strongly that we should.

Think this question can somewhat continue to be kicked down the road. Just playing the straight bat could well be enough to get us into the top 10 anyway, and then we can have the conversation about whether to take the @Diabolical approach or just try and hold that place.

I think it becomes a bigger consideration if the potential person to overhaul for top spot is someone on the site. I wouldn't want to be responsible for reducing their prize as a result of a long shot punt from this team.
Too early to completely POD it up with 5 rounds to go. All of the teams ahead have at least one POD without even trying to be different. Just one POD can be worth +/-50+. A bad round, and this team will still be in it unless it has too many PODs. A good round and it keeps inching closer. I think it is only in the last couple of rounds at most when caution gets thrown to the wind!

I think put Webster in the bowl line. We have Short and Agar we can move to the bats if we want more bowlers, but not many DPP in the bat line so we lose some options if Webster locks one of those spots.

125 from 3 if we loop on Ellis. Ellis (84), Webster (27), Clarke (14). Not planning on taking McDermott (12).

Pretty poor start, but I expect most are in a similar position. Webster and Clarke with another game to come.

Do we want to lock in any trades for tomorrow? Probably worth choosing a VC too with only two more teams to come with a double.
Probably only really need to trade out Handscomb & Mujeeb before tomorrow's night game.

Just double check Lynn & Short are both named.

Fairly sure Short will be a unanimous choice as VC

I’m happy with Philippe and Mujeeb as outs.

Handscomb or maybe Connolly as the third makes sense to me - whoever we think is more likely to get a game should probably go?

Ins look like Hardie, Bancroft and Thornton by a margin, based on the poll.

I would be inclined to just do the trades when we are ready, rather than doing them game by game. The trade updates are handy for optimizing for any new info later, and it allows us to better see how it all looks.

I agree re Short as VC. His ceiling could be 300 or more across the double, I don’t think it makes sense to waver from him, unless we’ve missed something really important!
