Thanks @Darkie for the poll. (y)

As per my previous post, these 3 players seem the most uncertain selections in our team. I personally think that Nielsen and Neser should both be replaced. Farooqi I don't see a decent replacement in the Thunder side, and I'd suggest only running with 5 Thunder players if we trade him out too. It will be interesting to see the majority opinion here, so the more votes the better. :)
I would fade all three Qadir worries me with farooki I also like 5 thunder now and have added an extra star -Clarke WE have to keep an eye on Round 3 particularly the games order McAndrew is now on my radar NDD

Poll results:

Neser only: 2
Nielsen and Neser: 3
Neser and Farooqi: 1

I know the poll is still open, however with Rd 1 fast approaching, I'm calling it there after 24 hours of voting. (I didn't vote myself, and would have also voted for the leading option).

We now have $186,500 for the last two positions in the team - one BAT eligible and one BWL eligible. I'll leave it open for any suggestions for these players for a few hours, otherwise I will come up with various combinations myself based on popular selections and hopefully get a poll out later tonight.

Thanks for the votes.

Sorry I am losing track.

How does the side look now ? are our onfield players locked in (disregarding loops) or are they still open to change ? or are we just looking at 2 new bench options ?

Refer to post 2. The only changes are Nielsen and Neser to ?? and ??

On field players will be the same.

I'd be really happy to hear your suggestions on who the two replacement players could be, they can be from any club. I know you follow results worldwide, so you should know who a lot of these players are better than or at least as well as anyone else here, and who the right options are to select (especially based on your initial selections here).

Appreciate what you are trying to do , don't envy your task , think once the comp starts it will get more and more frustrating with the short turn around between rounds , real life interruptions for people etc etc

Almost need a cut off of maybe 3pm each Game 1 Day of each Round in order to try and get trades , loops etc all organised.

Don't mind Neser : -

to either Swepson (in preparation for Round 3)
or Hardie (in preparation for Round 2)

No idea what to do with Nielsen's spot in all honesty , just think it is a waste of $$$ if we end up with a Bancroft , Gilkes , Inglis price type sitting their , money could be invested onfield but will go along with what the majority decide

Big Bash Board , CricBuzz & CricInfo are my friends

I've voted Nielsen and Neser, but would also swap Farooqi if selection goes against him. More broadly I think half our Thunder starters are in trouble!

Recommended changes from my end:
Nielsen -> Handscomb
Neser -> Hosein maybe?

I would lean towards Neser to Brown and the Neilson to either Lynn for a DGR loop or a strong SGR contender like Hoswin, Khan, Dre Russ, etc.

but it’s probably a 2 part decision. Neser to Brown (or Connolly) to get maximum cash from these trades. Then how to best spend the ~$145k..

Players I like that could combine to be <186.5k:

Webster 62.5 (think he still works as a bench cash cow, even though he's a Star)
Cutting 86
NCN 103.2
Lynn 112.2

Khan 125
Hardie 99.6
Conway 70.6
Maybe Sutherland 62.5
Cam Green 62.5 (as a loop option / saved trade when he plays)
C Connolly (cheap loop)

Given Cutting, NCN and Lynn have the R1 double, and are dearer than Webster, they would probably be options primarily if we needed to replace someone (eg Sams missing - ie we wouldn't want to leave them on the bench I don't think).

This is the list of names that jumped out to me though.

In terms of specific combos, I would probably be looking at some of these:

Khan/Connolly
Webster/any player up to 124k
Cam Green/any player up to 124k
Hardie/Conway
Hardie/Sutherland
Two cheapies + cash

I was typing this up as Darkie posted, I see he has raised a few other combos worth considering. I'll put together a more consolidated list when I get home late tonight.

=====

Based on options suggested in this topic (that we could afford), I think our alternatives are (in no particular order):

  1. Swepson + Bat up to 79,100
  2. Hardie + Anyone up to 86,900
  3. Handscomb + Hosein
  4. Expanding on 3, any 62.5K player + up to 124K on the other player.
  5. Brown /Connolly + Lynn
  6. Brown + Bat up to 144,500 (De Grandholme, Shadab, Renshaw etc), or Connolly + Bat or Bowler up to 144,50
We could also go for two players in the 80-90K range, but I personally don't like any of the bowlers much at that price. Might be able to loop them I guess. The other option I see is two cheap players and bank the cash.

Keep suggesting, I'll finalise a list in 3-4 hours.

I am not sure if we are considering Round 2 bench options or not though when we are suggesting Round 1 bench replacement players.

Might get stuck with too many BH , Connolly & 🌟's on the bench for Round 2 , would prefer to hold players like Stoinis & Zampa on the bench Round 2 if possible (both potentially Top 10 players)

EDIT Looks like we are setup to trade out Boult , Rashid 😅 & Short Round 2 and bench both Stoinis & Zampa , so should be ok having 2 BH and/or Connolly on the starting bench.

New poll posted. Please vote! :)
Doesn't Webster take us over our limit on Stars players though ?

Same as Conway & Lynn with Striker players.

I thought we had decided AS 2 , MS 3 , ST 6 so the bench spots were for non DGR players or I am just getting more and more confused
.

Bench players can be from clubs on a DGR, but might not be advisable.

I should mention with the current poll, a lot of the options have been based on suggestions which included "players up to $X". I have just chosen a random popular player that fits this classification for the poll option, if you think a better player fits that combo, please list it here. Quite possible - I put this together late last night due to other commitments, so there are likely better options.

Not sure we'll get consensus here, and I might have to end up making a judgement call myself, but it will be interesting to see which ends up as the most popular option. I tried to provide a bit of variety in the player selections, so hopefully the players you want are at least included. Please vote (or post a preferred alternative), every vote will help us get the best team possible!

Is there a way for you to edit in your team into post 2 every time you update it? This could make it easier to follow rather then scrolling through a few posts to find it

That's the plan, but I can't modify it myself, I need someone in the leadership team to modify that post. I'll hopefully get this post updated with the "final" Rd 1 team tomorrow (although I expect there could be some late changes needed).

The team is currently the same as post 2, just with Nielsen and Neser being replaced by 2 players which are TBC (we are working that out now). Wade and Nielsen have swapped spots, so we are looking for a bench batting player and bench bowling player. These can be all rounders/keepers if they fit the budget.

Currently two poll options have multiple votes. Although I am not ruling out other alternatives yet (I quite like a few of these options myself), I thought I would show how these two most popular options would line up, to see if that may change votes etc.

Connolly and Lynn option:
1670849067261.png
As you can see, Lynn is only going to be a backup option if the batting loop player (currently Rossouw) fails in this structure, despite him being on a double. Personally, I'm not sure this is the wisest way to spend our cash. Might be wiser to wait and see the first game scores and bring him in if the loop player does fail.

Webster and Swepson option:
1670849608479.png
Here our two players are both benched. Webster would be purely there for any cash gen, as he plays in the first game, it means we can't take advantage of his DGR (followed by a Rd 2 bye, he won't be fielded until at least Rd 3 - I guess he is cheap, but might be better cheap options?). Swepson is there in advance of a Rd 3 DGR which I don't mind - this does eliminate the bowling loop, but I am more confident in our bowlers than batters.

Not sure if that impacts anyone's vote or not. I personally prefer the second option out of these two, but both have their positives and negatives. I think we would ideally have some players that are BAT/BWL DPP on the bowling line for future flexibility, but that can get sorted in later rounds.

I'll likely lock in the team based on the leading poll option in my lunch break today, which is usually a bit before 1PM, but depends on my work load / meetings etc. I've actually got a Christmas dinner tonight (very inconsiderate to pick the same time as the first game!), but will definitely be trying to find a few minutes to confirm the starting lineups etc and changing things as necessary - hopefully no changes will be required.

You can see the VC and E players that I have chosen above, if anyone has other options within the team they'd prefer instead, please let me know this morning.

Thanks, and if you haven't voted yet, please do.

Good summary here.

I would be comfortable with your looping suggestion if we don’t have a clear preference ex that.

How much cash do we have left with the Webster side ?

Personally can't see the point of him @ Batter 7 and with the Bye next round makes our bench dead (Stoinis , Swepson, Webster , Zampa) while we will have a $ 120k player twiddling his thumbs at WK2.

No idea if our thoughts are with having a dedicated VC/C 🍩 for the season but if so we may as well just start Connolly from the beginning and save ourselves a trade otherwise find ourselves a "dead" WK2 and swap Wade back to the bat bench.
