How much cash do we have left with the Webster side ?

Personally can't see the point of him @ Batter 7 and with the Bye next round makes our bench dead (Stoinis , Swepson, Webster , Zampa) while we will have a $ 120k player twiddling his thumbs at WK2.

No idea if our thoughts are with having a dedicated VC/C 🍩 for the season but if so we may as well just start Connolly from the beginning and save ourselves a trade otherwise find ourselves a "dead" WK2 and swap Wade back to the bat bench.
16.6K, see poll.

It's not currently leading anyway. I sort of agree with you, which is why I'd probably prefer a different $62.5K player if it did get up.
I really need to look at these poll results better 😀

Everything might change again after tonight's game in any case depending on how the loops go.

This is the team we will be starting with, selections tonight pending. If Rossouw gets an acceptable first game score, I will likely be looking for options to replace Lynn, as I think there are better options for this spot if we are not utilising him for the DGR.

$32,300 in the bank.

Thanks everyone for helping get this team together. I think it is quite reasonable.

Got scared off Stoinis as VC once I heard the Covid news and switched it to Sams (the most popular VC option in the gameday topic). Very glad I did, and unless there are any objections, I'll be locking this in as C (Connolly gets the C). The rest of the team stayed as mentioned.

Current scores:

Gilkes 0 (not looped unfortunately)

Sams 66 x2, Hales 16, Stoinis 0 (another ugh). Rossouw scored 10 as E which I suggest we don't take and use Lynn on field instead.

Boult 68, Farooqi 79, Zampa 60. Green 85 as E which I suggest we do loop on field via Connolly.

Total to date is 440 from 9 score involvements (48.88 per SI). A little bit below what I was hoping for, but with two zero scores included in that total, it is not terrible, and there will be plenty in worse shape. We have a solid side with plenty of scoring ability, especially among the bowlers. I'm confident we will do well with another 15 SI still to come.

Nice work on the VC switch! Makes sense to me, and seems to have worked out nicely. I would definitely lock in Sams’ 66 (and have done so myself). Green also seems like a no brainer.

Good start!

It's time to start thinking about trades for next round. With less than a day between rounds in general, I'll be starting planned trade talks for the upcoming round towards the start of each round. The fixture for Rd 2 is below:

1670936595348.png

Scorchers and Thunder with a double, Stars and Heat with a bye.

I am expecting we will want to bring in three players with a double in either Rd 2 or Rd 3 (Heat - Thunder have the bye this round). Based on that, Perth is the only team who will have 3 games across Rds 2 and 3, all other teams have 2 except for the Stars who have 1.

I don't recommend using one of our three trade boosts this round. We already have 7 players who likely have a DGR in Rd 2, and should likely get this to around 9 or 10. That's plenty.

We do not yet have any Heat players in our team, so it might be worth considering bringing 1-2 in this round, despite them having a bye. We only have 1 Scorcher, and as mentioned, they have the best draw over the next two rounds.

My thoughts are we bring in 3 Perth players Rd 2, and not worry about Brisbane players until Rd 3. Bowlers seem to be outshining batters in recent T20 matches (world cup plus game 1 here) - I'd suggest we take at least two bowlers here, if not three. My suggestions are to bring in Richardson, Agar and Tye, trading out Lynn, Khan and Boult to do so. Perth do have a very strong bowling line up though - I'm guessing that these three are going to make the team at this stage, and we need at least one BAT/BWL player with the trades I suggested. Before price changes, these three players will cost $467,100 to bring in, the three we are trading out (plus bank) currently total $518,100, so we should be able to easily afford them.

Happy to hear your thoughts on the following:

Do we use a trade boost in Rd 2?
Who do we trade out?
Who do we trade in?

Make sure you consider prices when suggesting trades in and out - should be obvious, but there is no point suggesting we trade out three cheap players and bring in three expensive players if we can't afford to do so.

Thanks all, keep up the good work.

I like it. Your proposed plan is exactly what I would do, so long as Short bowls 4+ overs across these two games (otherwise he can go, and Rashid can stay).

No boost for R2 in my view, unless there is an outstanding cash cow that we want to prioritise. I am pencilling in R3 for mine, getting Thunder players out, Heat in, and getting in on a cash cow or two.

If Webster’s scoring continues/role looks favourable, he’s the type that could become a priority in my view.

Perth have the toughest DGR opponents in the first 5 rounds as I see it, so personally I don’t mind going slightly lighter on them. Jhye is an absolute lock if fit though.

I agree 100% with this - save the boost, and keep whoever has the better role between Khan/Short.

My only other thought is, given Mujeeb is not required for this round thanks to the Green loop and we don't have any BH players, do we want to have a look at switching him to Swepson? Feels like a good chance to take advantage of the unlimited trades in round 1 to set the team up for a future DGR.

I agree, we do have flexibility between trading out Rashid and Short by swinging Connolly. I was thinking we'd need two BAT eligible players to do that, forgetting we already had one in Connolly. Definitely an option to consider, and I'd be on board with this.

Good call, Mujeeb to Swepson makes sense to me. Does anyone disagree with this move (will need to be done before their match tomorrow)?

Does Mujeeb - > Swepson (gives us $ 36,700.00 in the Bank) then allow Wade - > Billings as well ?

If Wade is benched Round 1 & 2 may as well get Billings in early for Round 3 (saves a trade)

Edit: require $ 32,400.00 to get Wade - > Billings 🤗

I wouldn’t object to the Swepson move, but have considered it for my team and elected to go for the Mujeeb option myself.

We do have enough cash for this, yes. Less than 5K spare. I don't think this will affect Rd 2 trade plans at all either way, we should still have plenty of cash available.

I am personally not a huge fan of Billings, but this trade probably makes sense to do. Do we have any idea where Billings is likely to bat in the order?

Most team projections have him batting @ 4 (so same as last season with the Thunder).

Sounds like Peirson will be keeping , but Billings has a overall SC Ave of 46 from 25 games.

Will be a very popular target for Round 3 , here is our opportunity to get ahead of the game and create a "spare" trade for Round 3.

If we take the Swepson option need to be mindful that Sams (or Short) & Connolly need to swap for Round 2 , could change Round 2 trade plans

Round 2 bench will be

Connolly , Stoinis
Swepson , Zampa

I was thinking Connolly would take Lynn's spot.

Gilkes / Wade or Billings
Short or Agar, Sams, Hales, Rossouw, Inglis / Connolly, Stoinis
Khan or Agar, Richardson, Tye, Farooqi, Green / Mujeeb or Swepson, Zampa

I think that's where we are at anyway? Seems to work to me.

That works as well

Outs look like Boult , Lynn & Rashid/Short then

That was based on my thoughts only after 1 game of this round. This is not just my team. More than happy to hear alternative options, and that is what I want from this topic - for everyone to chip in and have their say.

Boult should always be an out (too much money to bench) , I won't suggest trading Rashid out (but eventually he has to go) , so it's either him or Short.

If Rossouw fails again he needs to be considered as he could lose way too much cash for Round 3 options.

I gather the intentions with Gilkes is to eventually park him as WK2.

Lynn makes sense as a in and out , depends on his BE at the end of the Round v Rossouw.

As for the Scorchers could be any of Agar , du Plessis , Mills , Richardson, Tye as a priority then make a case for any/all of Bancroft (not a fan) , Behrendorff , Hardie , Inglis (already have) , Lyth (not sure personally) , Turner (warming to him this season for some reason personally)

Thunder - > Heat in Round 3 become interesting after last night's game

If Richardson is named in their starting XI he would be my priority # 1.
