I think even once the PM’s XI and Test squad have been named, I’ll likely just pick the three internationals for the Heat only. That’s if Munro is available for their first match of course.
Too many question marks on basically every local player whether it be selected for PM’s XI or Test squad, availability for those named for the first and possibly second match once PM’s XI players are available again, generally being a poor selection or wife recently giving birth to twins..
Think there’s a real risk of picking a player expecting them to play three matches of the double when it only eventuates that they play two or possibly even just one match of their TGR.
I think you’re right that there’s question marks over them all, but I wonder if the fear of someone misses a game results in missing a genuine good option.
Assuming Neser and one of the spinners joins Renshaw in the XI. Johnson also appears highly unlikely to be available.
Their XI may be: Munro, Brown, McSweeney, Billings, Pierson, Bryant, Walter, Bartlett, Wildermuth, Prestwidge, Kuhn/Swep.
McSweeney (if the ankle issue is okay) immediately stands out to me given their bowling lineup - good chance of stealing quite a few overs. A guy batting 3, bowling 2-3, in very good form, at 130k - if he was on a dgw you’d pick him.
Think it’s a case by case basis. One thing is for sure though, I’m becoming very keen on Walter - role could be sublime.
