Perth Scorchers

Ins: Finn Allen, Keaton Jennings, Matthew Hurst, Mahli Beardman
Outs: Laurie Evans (Melbourne Renegades), Zak Crawley, Steve Eskinazi, Hamish McKenzie (Melbourne Stars)
Unsigned from BBL|13: Sam Whiteman, Liam Haskett, Marcus Harris

Draft Insights

Draft picks: Finn Allen, Keaton Jennings, Matthew Hurst

Scorchers head coach Adam Voges said: “Clearly we were hoping Laurie (Evans) might get through. We thought another team might take him, so we had to go to plan B. we’re really happy. We’ve gone very specific in the type of player we targeted.

On Jennings, Voges said: “He’s a top-order player. He’s an experienced cricketer, he’s played international cricket, he’s a left-hander which we don’t necessarily have at the top of the order. To bring that in as another option for us will be very, very handy.”

Squad (17 of 18 signed):

Batsmen: Finn Allen, Keaton Jennings, Ashton Turner, Nick Hobson, Sam Fanning
Wicketkeepers: Josh Inglis, Matthew Hurst
All-rounders: Mitch Marsh, Ashton Agar, Cooper Connolly, Aaron Hardie
Bowlers: Jason Behrendorff, Lance Morris, Jhye Richardson, Matthew Kelly, Mahli Beardman, Andrew Tye

Best XI

1 F.Allen
2 K.Jennings
3 A.Hardie
4 J.Inglis (wk)
5 A.Turner (c)
6 C.Connolly
7 A.Agar
8 J.Richardson
9 A.Tye
10 J.Behrendorff
11 L.Morris

Perth’s opening batting slots have long been a problem, so the recruitment of NZ blaster Finn Allen and Englishman Keaton Jennings is deliberate to solve that problem, while Manchester Originals bat Matthew Hurst could also fill that role.

We’re assuming Mitch Marsh will be unavailable with Test duty, so he’s left out.

Laurie Evans is a big loss for the Scorchers batting line-up, while opener Zak Crawley departs too, although he missed a fair chunk of last season.

The return of captain Ashton Turner from a season-ending injury will go a long way to solving Evans’ absence.

Cooper Connolly’s quality with both bat and ball is so high now that he can hold down 6 alongside Ashton Agar in the same team, plus the 4 fast bowlers, squeezing out Matt Kelly.

However, with Agar, Connolly and Hardie all capable with the ball, Perth could use the 3 quicks at a time, but traditionally they haven’t done that.

Expect Perth to use their final spot on Wanneroo spinner Matt Spoors, who was last season’s WA Premier Grade Olly Cooley medal winner.

Spoors ended the First Grade competition with 549 runs at 42.23 and 33 wickets at 15.88, so he’s handy with the bat.

He’s also represented Canada at international level.

Sydney Sixers

Ins: Akeal Hosein (Melbourne Renegades), Jafer Chohan
Outs: Tom Curran (Melbourne Stars), Steve O’Keefe (retired)

Draft Insights

Draft picks: James Vince, Akeal Hosein, Jafer Chohan

Sixers head coach Greg Shipperd said about Jafer Chohan: “Young leg-spinner from England.

Played with Ben Dwarshuis this year, played with James Vince and Akeal Hosein in the Southern Brave.

We think we’ve got a surprise leg-spinner and really pleased with that selection.”

On Hosein, he said: “It’s been mentioned about the loss of Steve (O’Keefe).

Akeal is ranked two in T20 cricket and can bowl through all 3 phases. Really pleased.”

Squad (17 of 18 signed):

Batsmen: James Vince, Steve Smith, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Daniel Hughes, Kurtis Patterson
Wicketkeepers: Josh Philippe
All-rounders: Jack Edwards, Hayden Kerr, Joel Davies
Bowlers: Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Todd Murphy, Akeal Hosein, Jafer Chohan, Jackson Bird, Mitch Perry

Best XI

1 J.Vince
2 D.Hughes
3 J.Philippe (c)
4 M.Henriques
5 J.Silk
6 J.Edwards
7 A.Hosein
8 S.Abbott
9 B.Dwarshuis
10 J.Chohan
11 J.Bird

The Sixers ended last season with Josh Philippe batting at first drop with Dan Hughes opening.

With the latter dominating the UK’s T20 Blast, the Sixers may be inclined to persist with Hughes as an opener in BBL|14.

Steve Smith will slot into that 3 once available for the last few games of BBL|14.

With Tom Curran departed, Jack Edwards looms as a major wild card along with new import Akeal Hosein as their middle-order all-rounders.

Arguably, with their bowling options, they could play another batsman at 6.

If they opt for Edwards and Hosein at 6/7, they loom as excellent all-rounders for SuperCoach.

English leg-spinner Jafer Chohan is a mystery option who can step in for the retired Steve O’Keefe, although Todd Murphy is a contender for that, plus Joel Davies.

Likewise, Jackson Bird will battle with Mitch Perry for the fast-bowling spot. Ben Dwarshuis injured his pec in Australia’s ODI clash with England last week, so monitor his fitness.

Supercoach BBL14: The Draft picks that matter

We run the eye over the Big Bash 14 Draft to assess the impact on the upcoming Supercoach season.

Not many players in SuperCoach BBL are relevant.

Because while we’re using the ‘Langley Method’ to maximise our scoring opportunities each round, only certain roles and teams are worth focusing on.

To help you cut through the noise of the overseas signings, here’s our deep dive on the International blokes who are going to impact the SuperCoach season.

Adelaide Strikers

Draft picks: Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Fabian Allen

Relevant impacts:

All three will have some SuperCoach relevance. Jamie Overton was a revelation last season with a dream role and good performances to back it up.

He’s the true leader of a pace bowling attack – albeit one that does look very thin – and will bat in the number 6/7 range where he should face some Power Surge overs.

He won’t be cheap, but will be captain option for the Strikers DGW and potentially a player to hold for his SGW pending schedule.

New recruit Ollie Pope should take the keepers gloves for the Strikers, giving them some balance for the first time in a while without the need to rely on Harry Neilsen.

We know keepers are handy to own and rotate, albeit Pope’s T20 numbers do not inspire much confidence. On his career he averages 28 at a strike rate close to 130.

When assessing overseas talent, we ideally want those numbers to add up to at least 170. He’s likely to bat in the number 4/5 slot too which isn’t ideal.

Fabian Allen is an interesting one. A left-arm finger spinner who will share the burden of frontline spinner alongside Cameron Boyce, Allen is also a handy lower order hitter.

While not a huge wicket-taker, he should consistently bowl his 4 and bat in the 7-8 slot meaning good scoring involvements.

This is before mentioning his fielding which should see him in the hot spots.

One to monitor and one I expect to suck many Coaches in.

Brisbane Heat

Draft picks: Colin Munro, Paul Walters, Tom Alsop

Relevant impacts:

We know what we get from Colin Munro by now. A rock solid opening bat and hot spot fielder who you can typically select in DGW based on his form line.

Paul Walters should similarly be well known to coaches based on last year’s performances.

Tall Paul’s role is arguably one of the best in SuperCoach as a death bowler and number 6/7 bat. If priced on last year’s average, he will be one to watch closely and select at the right time.

Tom Alsop is the fresh face but fills a need for the Heat as a wicketkeeper batsman.

Yes the Heat won the title last year but having lost Sam Billings, their options with the gloves were limited through the draft and Alsop therefore comes into calculations for Heat DGW.

While he doesn’t possess huge career numbers with the bat, he’s about as relevant as Ollie Pope but arguably more so given he will keep to the best bowling attack in the competition.

Hobart Hurricanes
Draft picks: Shai Hope, Chris Jordan, Rishad Hossain

Relevant impacts:

The new boy Shai Hope is a great cricketer but not relevant in SuperCoach as a bat only in an already congested top order. Chris Jordan is well known and a handy allrounder who will bowl death and bat at 7 or 8.

Hossain is an interesting prospect. The Bangladeshi leg-spinner impressed in the recent T20 World Cup but is no guarantee to crack the ‘Canes best XI.

If he does he’s very SuperCoach relevant as an attacking bowler with a great strike rate.

On top of that, he knows how to hit a cricket ball and while he’s probably “BWL only” to begin with, he could be a dangerous hitter during the Power Surge.

One to note.

Melbourne Renegades

Draft picks: Laurie Evans, Tim Seifert, Jacob Bethel

Relevant impacts:

Evans crosses from the Perth Scorchers as a genuine match-winner but with a highly volatile role for SuperCoach.

Despite being the biggest name selected he’s arguably the least SuperCoach relevant.

Seifert will take the gloves for the ‘Gades which brings him into relevance.

He’s another crafty batter quite suited to batting anywhere from 3-7 and it remains to be seen exactly where he’ll fit into the puzzle.

His record is solid, not spectacular so pending price and draw he could be interesting.

Jacob Bethel is a 20-year-old allrounder who like most good English prospects was born in another country.

He’s quite raw and unproven but thanks to his left-arm orthodox bowling is likely to have a role as the 6th bowling option and middle-order hitter which is appealing.

It’s entirely predictable that he could struggle to acclimatise to Australian conditions – as is the way for most first year English players – so it’s frugal to watch before jumping on.

Melbourne Stars

Draft picks: Ben Duckett, Tom Curran, Usama Mir

Relevant impacts:

Duckett was a handy cricketer for the Brisbane Heat, but as predominantly a bat he isn’t super relevant.

The glimpses of leg spinner Usama Mir in BBL13 were also seemingly uninspiring, albeit he did improve throughout the tournament.

Tom Curran is the one that could be the game changer for the Stars’ fortunes. As the default death bowler and likely number 7 bat, he’s got an awesome role.

What’s even better could be his starting price given his lacklustre showings last summer down under.

Could be a set and forget option.

Perth Scorchers

Draft picks: Finn Allen, Matthew Hurst, Keaton Jennings

Relevant impacts:

Hurst and Jennings will be lucky to get a game this season, but Finn Allen is a genuine star who will open the batting.

He’s likely to be priced at top dollar but will be a great option for the risk takers and a near ‘must have’ on the Scorchers DGW.

The fast, bouncy conditions should suit him in Perth.

A career strike-rate of nearly 170 tells you all you need to know.

Sydney Sixers

Draft picks: James Vince, Akeal Hosein, Jafer Chohan

Relevant impacts:

Vince is another known quantity who, despite his consistency, is not a genuine SuperCoach prospect.

Jafer Chohan is unlikely to play but provides some depth and mystery as a young leg spinner.

Hosein is the player fans should be most excited about and for good reason. In his limited stints in the Big Bash so far he has taken a wicket every 15 deliveries and delivered an economy rate of 6.25 – simply elite stuff.

Called upon to fill the void of Stephen O’Keefe, he will love bowling in the Sydney attack and should find success on the SCG which has been super inconsistent for the last few years.

His price tag may keep lots of coaches away, but he’s a stud.

Sydney Thunder

Draft picks: Lockie Ferguson, Sam Billings, Sherfane Rutherford

Relevant impacts:

The Thunder immediately look like a better side with these three names added to their XI.

All have the potential to be SuperCoach relevant.

Ferguson is a superstar who, when fit, is a frightening prospect.

He will bowl the death overs which on the Showgrounds stadium could be near untouchable.

Billings’ relevance will depend on his position in the batting order which looms as either the number 3 or 5 spot.

The lower he goes, the less likely he is to impact the game, albeit his Power Surge batting is especially damaging.

Rutherford is a name only the hardcore cricket fan will know but he has all kinds of potential as a three-way-talent.

His main skill is his lower order hitting, and he will take the pressure of Dan Sams by occupying the number 6 slot.

We know this is usually too low in the order to score consistent SuperCoach points, however he does possess rare ability here as a hitter. He bowls medium pace but only a little bit, so don’t expect him to actually get overs.

It’s likely that Nic Maddinson and Jason Sangha would be preferred over him as the 6th bowler. He is a jet in the field and will take catches which will add to his points.

As exciting as he is, Rutherford is more likely to be a fascination rather than a genuine SuperCoach prospect.

India T20I series to be potential IPL dress rehearsal for Rishad

The upcoming three-match T20I series against India following the ongoing two-match Test series could be a dress rehearsal for some Bangladeshi cricketers eyeing to be part of the forthcoming Indian Premier League, the world's biggest franchise-based T20 tournament.

Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, who missed the last edition of the tournament after the board refused to release them ahead of the T20 World Cup, would like to attract the franchises but all eyes will be fixed on Bangladesh young leg-spin prodigy Rishad Hossain.

Rishad, following his noteworthy performance in the last edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup as he grabbed 14 wickets, is expected to be keenly followed by some franchises ahead of the tournament when he shall feature for Bangladesh in the T20Is series against India.

"I am not thinking that far like IPL but what I am thinking is that I need to focus for the upcoming assignments that I will play for the country," Rishad, who is currently honing his skills in the Bangladesh Tigers camp, told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.

"As far as my dream is concerned ( playing in the IPL) and it is not like a dream but everyone feels that I will be happy if I can play in the IPL and I also have the same desire, I am hopeful that I will play( in the IPL) Insha'Allah."

Since his heroics in the T20 World Cup, Rishad already got the opportunity in the Canadian Global T20 League.

He has also been picked in the Big Bash League (BBL) for the Hobart Hurricanes.

While he missed the bus to the Global T20 League due to visa issues as the country was going through a huge political crisis when he was expected to depart for Canada, there is also an uncertainty regarding his participation in the BBL as it collides with the Bangladesh Premier League, the country's lone franchise-based T20 tournament.

The 22-year old Rishad was grounded despite being only the second cricketer of the country after Shakib al Hasan to be picked by any BBL franchise.

"Every opportunity makes you feel good but I was not excited to be honest( being picked in the BBL) and if I get the chance I will try to do well."

"I am hoping to play in the Big Bash but at the same time there is BPL so as the two tournaments will be played simultaneously, we will have to see how it goes but I am hoping that I will get an opportunity to play couple of matches in the Big Bash," he added.

The legspinner is marginally improving his batting skills as well, aware that he needs to showcase his talent with the willow to survive cutthroat competition.

"I am trying to improve my batting everyday by one to two percent and I hope that with passing days I will develop myself (as a batter)," he said.

Rishad said that he was disappointed to learn that Shakib decided to retire from the shorter format but added that they are confident that they can cover the void following the exit of the mega star.

"We haven't thought about it (who will replace the all-rounder) because Shakib took such a decision, it is disappointing for us and we will try to cover that (his gap) in the coming days.

"We have four to five spinners in the pipeline and we are discussing what we can do and how we can cover his place in the coming days," he said.

Rishad added that he feels his 14-wicket haul in the last edition of the Men's T20 World Cup is of the past and he needs to look forward.

"What I have achieved in the World Cup won't come back but I will try to do better than that by trying to prepare better and as the India series is ahead.

That is the truth (T20 World Cup performance is of the past) something I have to leave behind, and need to improve to do better than that," he added.

Rishad said that they are confident to clinch the three-match T20I series against India provided they perform as a team.

Bangladesh will take on India in the shorter format respectively on October 6 (Gwalior), October 9 (Delhi) and October 12 (Hyderabad).

"India is always a good team and they are the number one ranked team in T20I.

We hope to do well against them and trying to prepare that way. None of us are thinking that we cannot win the series," the legspinner told reporters.

"If you see when we play as a team we did well in the World Cup, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka series. If we play as a team, we can hope that we can win the series against them."

"We know that the wickets are not in our hand so whatever condition we are in, we have to play adjusting to it and perform accordingly," he said.

Why enter the draft then? I am not going to say his is a dud or anything because I think he could do alright.

Think Ricky Ponting did flag this after they drafted him without going into details. (something about fixture clashes)

Draft I think is on its last legs.

Thought it was a strange decision at the time to Draft him , expect the BCB wouldn't grant him a NOC with the BPL on at the same time.

Bangladesh also have a series v West Indies inee December as well.

I guess players enter the Draft and then see what happens if they get picked up and then make a decision.

Interesting if Curran and Seifert stay for the duration or leave early for the ILT 20

Haven't checked the SA Auction from last night to see if any others (with BBL contracts) got picked up.

Jake Doran confirmed by the Hurricanes

Squad complete ✓

Final piece of BBL|14 puzzle as Doran joins Hurricanes squad!

The Hobart Hurricanes can now confirm their full BBL|14 squad, with Jake Doran taking the Hurricanes final spot on their list.

The left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman had a strong year with the Tasmanian Tigers last season and was Tasmania’s highest run-scorer at the Top End T20 in Darwin in July.

Doran looks forward to being a part of the Hurricanes set-up again, returning to the Hurricanes squad for the first time since BBL|10.

“I am excited to play for the Hurricanes this coming year and looking forward to playing under Nathan Ellis, Jeff Vaughan, and the other players in the Hurricanes team.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to have another crack at T20 Cricket, where I believe I have developed some strong skills over the last couple of seasons.

“I have some good confidence after performing well in the Top End T20 and can’t wait to showcase that for the Hurricanes,” said Doran.

Doran, who moved to Tasmania in 2015 after signing a two-year deal with the Tigers, has played 71 First Class matches for Tasmania with four 100s, and 28 One Day Cup matches with two 100s.

His BBL debut came in 2014-15 with the Sydney Thunder, when he was the youngest ever player to sign a BBL contract, still yet to finish his Year 12 exams.

He played one match in BBL|04 and stayed on the Thunder’s list until BBL|06, where he made a further three appearances for the Thunder before signing with the Hurricanes in BBL|08.

During BBL|08, he played once for the Purple Army, followed by three games in BBL|09, and remained part of the Hurricanes squad in BBL|10 but did not feature in any matches that season.

A crafty, hard-hitting left-handed batter, Doran’s batting style is conducive to the shorter format of the game, and has come off a successful 2023-24 Australian Domestic Summer, where he scored nearly 500 runs in eight Sheffield Shield matches.

Doran will also provide a strong backup wicketkeeping option and is the first-choice wicketkeeper for the Tasmanian Tigers, and someone with great experience having captained matches for the Tigers squad at the Top End T20.

General Manager of High Performance, Salliann Beams, discussed what she thinks Doran can bring to the Hurricanes squad.

“Jake will provide great experience and strong all-round batting to our Hurricanes squad, and we saw this firsthand in the Top End T20 earlier this year.

“He has recently shown us that he can play a role in the middle order and I know he will step up for us in purple when required this season.

What particularly pleased me was how he recently dominated spin against good opposition, this is something we know we need to improve as a batting unit,” said Beams.

Doran joins Iain Carlisle, Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Paddy Dooley, Nathan Ellis, Peter Hatzoglou, Shai Hope (O/S), Rishad Hossain (O/S), Caleb Jewell, Chris Jordan (O/S), Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Billy Stanlake, Matthew Wade, Charlie Wakim, and Mac Wright as Hurricanes players under contract ahead of BBL|14.

Reading between the lines of a few things I have seen and read about the Thunder , likely (best) starting XI

Warner
Bancroft
Maddinson
Davies
Billings (WK)
Rutherford
Sams (if fit)
Green

+ Ferguson & T Sangha

leaves one bowler spot , I gather they got Agar for a reason so that means Hatcher and McAndrew would miss out , curious to see how Honeyball see it

Currently have 17 so Gilkes , Konstas , Salzmann & J Sangha on the outer
see how close I got :)

with thanks to Honeyball

Sydney Thunder

Ins: Sam Billings (Brisbane Heat), Nic Maddinson (Melbourne Renegades), Wes Agar (Adelaide Strikers), Lochie Ferguson, Sherfane Rutherford

Outs: Alex Hales, Gurinder Sandhu (Melbourne Renegades), Alex Ross (Adelaide Strikers), Zaman Khan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore
Unsigned from BBL|13: Liam Doddrell, Blake Nikitaras, Toby Gray

Draft Insights

Draft picks: Lochie Ferguson, Sam Billings, Sherfane Rutherford

Thunder head coach Trevor Bayliss said about Ferguson: “An experienced player, good international performer and with that extra pace, we’re looking forward to what he can bring to us.”

On Rutherford, Bayliss said: “We think we’ve got a strong top order and (we need to strengthen) that middle order. Being a left-hander to finish the innings off is important to us.”

Squad (17 of 18 signed):

Batsmen: David Warner, Cam Bancroft, Nic Maddinson, Sherfane Rutherford, Oliver Davies, Jason Sangha, Sam Konstas
Wicketkeepers: Sam Billings, Matthew Gilkes
All-rounders: Daniel Sams, Will Salzmann
Bowlers: Lockie Ferguson, Wes Agar, Liam Hatcher, Nathan McAndrew, Chris Green, Tanveer Sangha

Best XI
1 D.Warner
2 C.Bancroft
3 N.Maddinson
4 S.Billings (wk)
5 O.Davies
6 S.Rutherford
7 D.Sams
8 C.Green (c)
9 W.Agar
10 T.Sangha
11 L.Ferguson

After finishing last in BBL|13, expect big changes at the Thunder.

There’s natural change, with David Warner’s availability opening up.

Alex Hales has moved on, having committed to the ILT20 instead.

Nic Maddinson and Sam Billings – who’ll take the gloves off Cam Bancroft – have been brought in to bolster their failing batting line-up, with West Indian middle-order bat Sherfane Rutherford coming in as a specialist for that role, with Alex Ross departed.

It’s hard to know where all that leaves one-time young guns Ollie Davies and Jason Sangha, but it’s arguably they could bat 3 instead of Maddinson who hasn’t been reliable in recent BBLs.

The Thunder’s improved batting depth means all-rounder Daniel Sams can come in at 7 with captain

Chris Green in behind him, which is much better.

Lochie Ferguson should be a guaranteed starter until he exits for ILT20.

Wes Agar should get the nod ahead of Nathan McAndrew and Liam Hatcher but that’ll be form dependent.

Spoors boosts Scorchers' spin-bowling stocks

Perth Scorchers have finalised their list for the upcoming KFC BBL|14 season, handing spin-bowling allrounder Matthew Spoors his first BBL contract.

Formerly a top-order batter, WA Cricket Academy member Spoors has transformed himself into an attacking leg-spinner capable of scoring quick runs in the middle-order.

The 25-year-old was dominant for Scarborough last season, sharing the 2023-24 Olly Cooley Medal with Perth veteran Jono Wells as WA Premier Cricket’s best and fairest player.

He featured prominently during the Emerging Scorchers’ maiden Top End T20 campaign in August, before impressing in several WA pre-season intrasquad games.

Spoors has also played 10 T20Is and five ODIs for Canada, where his mother was born, and hammered a T20I century against the Philippines in February 2022.

In Spoors, Ashton Agar and Cooper Connolly, the Scorchers will have three spin-bowling allrounders at their disposal throughout BBL|14.

Reflecting on his first Scorchers contract, Spoors said:

“Playing for the Scorchers is something I’ve had my sights set on for a long time now, so to be part of a team with this history of success and a fantastic group of players is an honour.

“I’ve been on a pretty interesting journey with cricket over the last three or four years that has seen me end up in various parts of the world.

To get back to Perth, put in the work each week, string together some solid form for Scarborough, and to see that form recognised means a lot.

“I take a fair bit of confidence from the way I’ve approached my game in Premier Cricket the last few years, and from training and playing in a few practice games with WA.

I’m in a really positive space with my cricket and having a lot of fun with it.

“I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can.

The Club has a strong core group of players and staff, and being part of that group is an amazing opportunity.

I just want to take it all in, enjoy the experience, and contribute as much as possible.”

Perth Scorchers BBL|14 list: Ashton Turner ©, Ashton Agar, Finn Allen (New Zealand), Mahli Beardman, Jason Behrendorff, Cooper Connolly, Sam Fanning, Aaron Hardie, Nick Hobson, Matthew Hurst (England), Josh Inglis, Keaton Jennings (England), Matthew Kelly, Mitch Marsh, Lance Morris, Jhye Richardson, Matthew Spoors, AJ Tye.

This is what I'd have for Thunders XI

I view Wes and Maddo moreso as depth players, although Maddo could fit into the side if they wanted an extra batter (which I don't think they need). Hatcher and McAndrew far better quality than Wes in my opinion.

I am also keen to move on from Sams to Will Salzmann, although I suspect it will take a few games for this selection to take place.

wow , no Sams at all 😱

I haven't seen any reports how he is recovering from his injury.

Batting looks at least 1 short.

Maddo has been mentioned as a possible Test option 😀 , actually had a good end to last season and if they don't like Bancroft , Harris or Renshaw they why not.

Questions on Green even has Hardie and Webster in the frame.

Could be a very interesting Australia A side.

Is J Sangha completely out of favour ? must have been BBL 11 when he had a good season.

Be nice to see T Sangha have a big BBL season , our white ball options to support Zampa look a bit thin

Keen to see how Davies goes this season in both red ball and white ball.

I wonder if Warner even plays every game.

Hatcher and McAndrew would certainly be stiff to miss out.

Curious what the 14 , 15 & 16 mean.

Haven't checked but maybe the season they're signed until? With BBL14 being this season, 15 next, and so on.
That could be it 🤗

Pretty sure Billings signed a 3 season deal so that makes complete sense

I reckon Salzmann will get a gig when Ferguson goes and will likely bat 7-8. As useful as he is with the bat, I don’t think they’re throwing a debutant in at 6 at the get go, especially as the Thunder have had major problems with the bat for as long as I can remember.

Think it’ll be something like this:

Bancroft
Warner
Davies (think they’ll give him the responsibility)
Billings
Maddinson
Rutherford
Sams
Green
McAndrew
Ferguson
Sangha

Kind of vanilla for what we have, but think there’ll definitely be changes early on if the balance isn’t working. Maddinson offers (in the loosest form of the word) an extra bowling option, so we can afford to bat a bit deeper with him there.
