Hohns suggesting Handscomb and the 2 Marsh's are still in the Test thoughts going forward and after the ODI's they just to go back to the Shield and make runs.

So does that mean they are not in the ODI thoughts against India & Pakistan when the Shield resumes ?

Seriously 😀

I think I read a comment from one of the selectors that explicitly explained that all four dropped players are still in the ODI squad. Thought it was an odd coincidence.

If one precludes the other then that’s a bizarre and concerning comment.

The more and more I think about it the more I think the first half of the season will be Shield & Tests , then the second half will be ODI's and Big Bash.

I can see us having 3-4 Tests each summer and utilising Cairns & Darwin more in the winter.

The new Test Championship & ODI League starts this year which will complicate things further.

The problem with cricket is it all most 3 sports in one Tests , ODI's , T20's and then International and Domestic.

something has to give

India played two tests at home in 2018. They have a large country full of people, thus can play at different grounds at different times of the year and expect large crowds. We have a large country not remotely filled compared to India , however produce good crowds in Melbourne and Sydney. TV is obviously the major driving force regardless of venue, however give us a Cairns Test and stay in Port Douglas. I'll look after you!!! :)

I will have to check but I think we are due to play Bangladesh (if we don't cancel again) or Zimbabwe in winter so I might take you up on that offer.

Went to Cairns 20 years ago now only got to see Port Douglas and the Daintree briefly , remember a great pie shop.

Then 13 years ago went to Cairns for a wedding , stayed at the Casino and donated them too much money.

Cheers

By the way, adding to the swing bowling conversation, there is not enough wrist integrity going on to allow for swing either way. You only have to watch the vision of balls bowled to see how terrible our fast bowlers are in this art. Whether it be swing or seam, an ability to produce a straight seem is imperative.

Too much emphasis is place on speed/pace, much like baseball pitching, rather than the movement of the ball. Be that extra bounce and slight movement of McGrath or Alderman swinging to off and targeting off stump.

You, and all SCS regulars, will be looked after when you book directly.

Cairns has many attractions, however Port Douglas can access those and offer closer access to the Reef and Daintree, as well as a great small town offering of great restaurants, cafes and bars.

Apparently the plan for the World Cup is 2 pace + Lyon & Zampa with Marsh/Stonis the 5th bowler so can someone explain to me what Maxwell's role is now ? specialist fielder like Roger Harper

Interesting talk of moving the Sydney Test to Dec 18-22 each year to try and leave January - > for Big Bash , suspect they would still try and and start Big Bash pre Xmas.

Interesting, I think Perth would then need to move earlier. Would mean Boxing Day would have more dead rubbers too.

The Sydney Tests generally haven't been great for some time though. A few dead rubbers and a number of weather-affected matches off the top of my head. Probably better that this happens in Sydney than Melbourne (albeit the weather aspecut doesn't really change!).

Be interesting to see what happens and if they reduce the number of Tests from 5/6 to 3/4 each summer and try and play some Tests in Cairns and Darwin during the winter months.

next summer we are due to play Pakistan (2) & New Zealand (3).

2020/21
Afghanistan (1)
India (4)

be nice if they just had Shield & Tests played together , then started Big Bash/ODI's in January - February
