No Carey or Holland in the squad. Bancroft and surprisingly Neser has got the nod.
didn't expect to see Carey at all (just hope Paine doesn't break a finger) , Holland would have been a waste of spot , don't mind the Neser pick , could actually cause some damage if the conditions suit (and they actually pick him)

Neser instead of Bird
Don't mind that squad that they've picked. Neser has shown he's been quite skilful with the Dukes ball, so that will be a plus if he gets the nod. Potential for him to fill the no.7 role if Labuschagne and Marsh aren't trusted. Means we're a bit thin on batting, but Neser probably offers more as an allround option if we're being honest.

I think it is nicely balanced and as good as it can be.

Bancroft or Harris to partner Warner then 3/4 choices at number 6.

Really hope now we are brave (and smart) with our fast bowling choices and just don't auto select Hazlewood & Starc.

Anderson & Broad are dangerous in English conditions for a reason , learn from them.

Agree re Neser , Siddle is in good form too , please pick the Bowlers that can best use the conditions.

A week to go.

How on earth does Marsh continue to get selected in test squads? It is beyond a joke. Apart from that, happy with the squad. Let’s just hope Lyon doesn’t do a McGrath and roll an ankle in the warm up, as we’ll be without a spinner (loosebuschange is not a frontline test spinner before someone decides to mention him).

I find the Carey omission quite odd but I guess recent runs scored in country don't count for much these days ...
I would say his extremely underwhelming first class record counted for something. Selectors made the right call. Carey has no right to be in this squad.

Unfortunately the 5 fa he took in seaming conditions thrust him into the squad. Will be interesting to see whether he is the preferred 'no.6' or whether they throw Wade in there to begin. Personally hoping Wade gets the nod and we just go with the 4 front line bowlers.

Smudge got initially picked as a spinner so it might be him and Lubuschagne in tandem hahaha......let's hope England's batting is as bad as ours.

GOAT stay away from warming up

Marsh was also the only player to score double figures in each Innings of the warm up game so now he is our # 1 batsmen ?

Good lord he might get voted VC again

My 2 cents worth.

Not sure about number 6 bat. Acknowledge that Wade has knocked the selectors door down with runs but he was horrible with the bat in his last stint and not sure he has technique to cope in England. Staggered Marsh gets another go and Marnus doesn’t fill me with confidence. Hope I am wrong. Is Bancroft an option at 6?

Also don’t think you can pick all of Cummins, Starc and Pattinson. Too much the same for England. For variety I think we need to pick 2 of those 3 and 1 of Hazelwood, Neser and Siddle. You need a line and length guy in England to tie down one end.

6 is going to be very interesting , even more of a issue if Khawaja is not ready.

I would love to see them go Cummins & Patto + Siddle for the 1st Test (doubt they will though)

Hopefully JL & co drop in here for a read ?
