https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27286167/prithvi-shaw-suspended-november-15-doping-violation

8 month suspension from the BCCI (Feb to Nov this year) for having been found with Terbutaline, which is a beta-2 agonist (used in asthma medication to relieve the muscle tension associated with the condition), in his system after unknowingly ingesting it in a cough syrup.
The non cricket watching public would probably call for the death penalty if that happened to one of our players.

Will be a very interesting toss. I still prefer us to bat first, but won’t be disappointed if we have a bowl. Can’t wait to see Lord Wade strut out to the middle. Would love for him to kill it this series. Has worked extremely hard to get back into this side.

Reports surfacing that Siddle is our third paceman. Would be livid with this decision if the game was played anywhere else in the world, but feel he could be a big contributor for us. Hope he can make the most of his chance here.

All things considered, I think that’s our best possible side for the conditions with the squad we selected.

I omitted Siddle from my squad several pages back but he’s a great option over there and hopefully will play the role we need from him as the workhorse.

Frees Pattinson up to tear away for 4-5 over spells and Cummins to play a more flexible bowling role.

Now for the batsmen to do something half decent and we may well have a shot at retaining that little urn!

Don't mind it , actually picking players horses for courses and (perhaps) going to bowl a little bit more scientifically instead of the crash and bash tactics in the past.

see how it all pans out

Disastrous first session so far. All set up for King Wade to launch a counter attack and make a ton for the ages.

To be expected when we decide to bat first at a venue that has had plenty of rain the past week.

Got to find a way to bat the session without another loss and I’d honestly call it even if we’re 3-65. England have bowled some unplayable deliveries on what is quite a soft wicket.

You could tell from when they took a close up of Warner at the crease and his centre mark was a very dark black. That’s the sign that there is a lot of moisture just underneath the surface and it will do plenty.

The flip side of this is that it will flatten out day 2 and be an absolute cracker of a pitch assuming the weather stays fine.

First session was always going to be tough to bat. Still think it was the right decision to bat first. The duke isn’t moving around now and the pitch looks great to bat on so we should be able to launch a counter attack here and rebuild.

I think the main issue with batting first is that both team’s batting is quite brittle, so any advantage that could be had probably should’ve been taken.

That said, Bancroft played an average shot, Warner wasn’t out and Khawaja probably could’ve been a bit more assertive in his decision making for that wicket ball. These two have batted sensationally though and hopefully they reap the rewards after the break.

Three wickets in the first session puts England slightly in front. Australia can get back in this if they can get through the next session losing one wicket at the most.

It was always going to be a tough first hour on that wicket. I like that Australia chose to bat as it shows a positive mindset to start a series. Batting should get easier now, so hopefully the middle order keeps holding up.
