I can see why they did it, they’ll hope they get Australia out before the 2nd session of day 3 with a lead, bat for a day and have roughly 5 sessions to bowl them out.
With that said, I can see Australia batting very well first innings on this pitch (around 5-6 sessions), and putting the pressure straight back onto England.
If we accrue a 470-500+ score, I can see England going into a bit of a panic as they realise a result will likely only come if they force the game forward, which opens it up for our bowlers to win the game.

The pitch looked like a good one day pitch that you should score 300 plus in a one dayer. Glad I am not a bowler in professional cricket. Now that the only form of cricket you had an advantage is now gone if England keep putting up wickets like that. Be interesting to watch how the game is played over the next couple of days.
