It feels like there's been a pretty concerted campaign in some circles to denigrate Cummins as a captain and in a lot of cases it has nothing to do with his cricket. And yet after this most condensed of off seasons Australia hold the mace, the Ashes, and have given themselves every chance of lifting the World Cup in the most hostile environment imaginable. I think it's past time we recognise just how impressive he's been.

How many runs did we save in the field? The only time we were sloppy was the back to back balls that cost 3 runs of overthrows.
Hopefully we can get this done after the break.

I feel like he’s still not tactically adept yet. Tonight he has been very good at recognising the need to unsettle batsmen with bowling changes, but in the past has let things just roll along.
The other night when he brought Zampa back when we had SA on toast was a decision I just could not get behind (and predicted). Very nearly cost us.
Easy to say from the armchair, but I think he still has a long way to go tactically.
