Although he doesn't give it away in this particular article, Mat Coch has a track record of contacting the Piastri family for comment so I'm guessing he's received a "yes but don't mention us" in reply

"It’s further suggested Piastri’s deal with McLaren was signed on July 30, a day prior to Fernando Alonso’s own departure from the team." That surprises me. Guess he didn't know Alonso was going either. But I also thought he had a contract with Alpine until July 31st.

Feel a bit for Dan getting replaced, not a major surprise after the last few days, but he just hasn't been good enough at McLaren. I would have thought he had burned too many bridges at Alpine, but if that's where he ends up, I hope things go a bit better for him there.
