I actually haven’t seen him play recently, so you may well be right.

I’m always mindful of these early career breakout predictions, given how seldom they happen. The o***ets as I see it are (1) he seems to have been viewed as a genuinely special talent even last year, so it’s not like we’re all jumping on the bandwagon of a player with no positive signs historically, and (2) he is forward eligible, so the hurdle for premo scoring is notably lowered.
I remember @BigRuss talking him up very early in the piece.

In the words of Bruce "he is special" he could even be a VVS.

SC aside the kid has the ability to be anything , has all the bells and whistles but a defensive side to his game as well.

You just hope the coaching staff continue to let him play and not over burden him with structures , be here , stand there etc etc.

They certainly are playing a exciting brand of football so far.

Libba getting 0 CBAs means Baz is looking safe. Watched him closely and he has put together 12 solid quarters. Composure with the ball beyond his years. I think he's a top 3 forward.
B Smith:
Career disposal avg= 18.4
SC avg when disposals equal/exceed 19: 94.83 from 12
SC avg when disposals below 19: 67.92 from 13

Very impressed by his performance last night considering the lack of contested possessions and tackles compensated by a superb disposal efficiency (16/17 effective).

Few excerpts below:
“Simpkin had 10 disposals, eight contested possessions and five clearances in the pivotal final quarter of Sunday's plucky 20-point boilover. In each of those statistical categories, Champion Data notes he was the No.1 ranked player on the entire ground. It's a fair effort, considering he was up against a midfield that consisted of Stephen Coniglio, Josh Kelly, Callan Ward, Lachie Whitfield and Jacob Hopper.“

“A similar tale had unfolded for Simpkin in the second half of the club's round one victory over St Kilda, where North Melbourne found itself 31 points down early in the third quarter before finishing with a flourish to steal victory.
According to Champion Data, Simpkin had 12 disposals in that half of footy at Marvel Stadium (ranked No.3 on the field), 10 uncontested possessions (No.2 on the field), 268m gained (No.1 on the field) and seven score involvements (No.2 on the field).”

old faithfuls in Son Son , Heeney & Dusty
many of the pre-season breakouts appearing
can't recall too many talking about Ebert , B Smith (?) , Butler or Marshall

will look again after Round 6.

I had no idea which pre-season bolter to take a punt on but starting both Greene & Lynch has me falling behind already , hopefully they perform to my expectations quickly

Can't have them all I guess

Whitfield watch

Price $ 537,500.00
BE 202
Expected change ( $ 49,800.00)
Yeh if he pulls b2b 80s he drops like 70k. Where as someone like Ba.Smith,Simpkin are going the other way. Never trusting a GWS player again even a rookie whilst Cameron is in charge.

Were to with Jack Steven, has Geelong erred backing Stevens as Kelly replacement.

It is too early to tell, but the football department might have a few restless nights if his current form-line continues.
Be interesting to track his progress.

To move forward as a club they can't stop relying on Danger & Selwood to do all the heavy lifting for them , plenty of options , just need the backup to step up and be more consistent.

Last hurrah before they have some tough calls to make on Ablett , Taylor maybe even Hawkins

I doubt C Taylor or Budarick will have fattened up enough by then so will need to work out here to get him.

Thinking I might take a punt on Bailey Smith.

Ziebell is too up and down for me. Would rather take a punt on Smith,Simpkin,Greenwood and Gresham 4th in line.
Just extending my short list while waiting for the Swans team & any updates on Stanley , Ziebell has been 85-90 the last 6 seasons so probably is just short of elite premium.

So many options , be interesting at the end of the season to see how they all fared.

Have one spot (at this stage) for Whitfield , so one other Forward spot to fill.

To me it only sounds like a one weeker for Stanley.
I'm culling Whitfield and not bringing him back. Interesting to see he has only had 5 marks total from the 2 games. To me he needs the wing/half forward role to impact with the 120+ scores.

just a week lessens my interest in Fort.

If Whitfield drops to $ 450-475 is he then becomes excellent value for a 100+ player and potentially more.

Yeh probably ideal trade target for those who don't have him but as an owner I'm backing him to miss a few more games and seem to be alot of value picks up fwd. Whitfield probably have a high avg but I no longer trust any GWS players especially after concussion. If he cops another knock, that would surely be multiple weeks out.

I don't have him so hopefully can bring him in a few rounds though.

You are right though there is too many value picks up forward putting their hand up.
