I am a Pricing Manager for an Australian subsidiary of a German company and have been there for about 4 years. The company is about 10 minutes from my house and therefore I could never work in the CBD again. I used to work at head office for one of the 4 banks in the Melbourne CBD, but now I work so close to home it's hard to make the move back to the CBD.
I have a 2.5 year old toddler (Evan), who is the joy of my life.
I used to play a bit of football when I was younger (under 14s, 16s and 18s). I played ruck rover but, had a good leap so could play ruck too. I often tried to outrun the opposition and got caught holding the ball. My coach used to yell at me and say 'Kick the f**** ball', kinda of funny in hindsight. I also used to play cricket and played in Hatch. I was a leg spinner and averaged under 10 runs per wicket and was a bit of a Shane Warne batsman, ie go for a 6 the first ball. I also used to play a bit of table tennis.
I enjoy my beers and my favourite beers are Asahi and Little Creatures. My favourite local beer would be Crown, but I don't mind VB nor Carlton Draught. I also don't mind a drop of John Walker (Blue on special occassions or Black as my standard label).
I don't usually read books, but my favourite book would be Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. This book is very inspirational and I highly recommend it. Coincidentally, over the weekend, I ordered Mitch Albom's new book The Time Keeper as well as Tuesdays with Morrie as I misplaced the book. The delivery date is 1 November 2012, so it's a 6 week wait .
My favourite movies would be the Matrix and Bourne Identity. I have a soft spot for 'The Recruit' with Colin Farrell as I wanted to join the CIA when I was young (but then realised I didn't meet the citizenship requirement) and ASIO (but then I realised I had to move to Canberra). My favourite TV shows would be Lost, Seinfeld, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond and Battlestar Galactica. My current favourite TV show is 'Once Upon a Time', who has the same creators as Lost. I guess I love watching movies about time, which is possibly why I love Mitch Albom books (ie Tuesdays with Morrie).
I am currently unemployed, but going to school in Hillerod, Denmark. Hillerod is about 30km North of Copenhagen. I am married to a Danish lady, and while I have no kids, my wife has 3 from a previous marriage, that range in age from 19 to 33.
I am the sites unofficial statistician, a title I bestowed on myself through my countless hours of drilling through numbers for SC.
I was never much of a footballer, but did play at school, and in juniors. I was an avid cricketer, and even coached a club at the young age of 23 for 2 seasons. I have worked in the retail industry in Australia for about 26 years, and for a wholesale jewellery importing company for 3 years before I left Australia. I also worked as a bookmakers clerk at the races for 13 years, for a rails bookmaker (racing people will know what that means!). This was in the days of manually writing and calculating the bets, not the with the computers they have today. I love racing, and there is nothing better than having a few beers and a punt with your mates. I arrive back in Australia on Thurs 20/9, but will only be there for 2 weeks before flying back to Denmark again.
Since I left school in 1979 I have only read:
Marathon Man by William Goldman (about 10 times)
The Black Swan by Nicholas Taleb (don't attempt to read this unless you love perverse statistical analysis!)
Any and all books written by Dan Brown and Matthew Reilly
Which when you add it all up, isn't a lot of books to read in 33 years.
The Scarecrow series by Matthew Reilly are probably my favourites.
I work as a colour matcher, so we have a lot of waiting for paint to dry. Gives me a lot of time to study up on supercoach. I'm getting married next October (had to be after footy season).
I played footy in juniors, wasn't any good. Love playing cricket opening bowler and a slog with the bat.
Also with my mates were always playing golf, darts, pool, table tennis. Always having leader boards and comps.
Also like to play video games xbox, ps3 or pc. More into pc games at the moment with the tech being better then the old consoles.
Im a big tv show watcher. Favorite being The Wire, The Shield, Breaking Bad, Lost, Dexter, Firefly could go on and on. At the moment im just waiting for the hows to come back on in the us.
Not really a movie watcher but if its good i will watch.
I am a 15 year old school boy who lives in country Victoria.
The three main things in my life at the moment, and all happen to start with S are:
I play footy in the local under 16 competition, I also represented the league in inter league footy and played in the under 15 school boys competition earlier this year. I don't really have a set position, more a utility like Brendon Goddard, anywhere from CHB, HBF, CHF, FF, and sometimes in the midfield.
My main sport though is cricket, I play under 16's and A grade for my club and have represented the league in various levels of inter association tournaments. I am looking to go as far as I can with my cricket and I am hoping to make the under 17 Victorian team as an under age player. I also played under 14 and under 16 (Dowling Shield) State Championships for the previous two years. I am a top four bat, sometimes as an opener but preffer number 3 the most, I also wicket keep.
I love my Supercoach and other fantasy sports games namely EPL and 20/20 BBL. Over the previous 2 years I have started to play really serious and absolutely love this site having learnt so many strategies and tips. Cannot wait to make my debut in the SCS Premier league next season up against players like Jay and Rowsus.
im a delivery driver for local fresh produce suppler been doing it for last 5 years. im aslo a qualified baker and did that for 13 years enjoyed it but the hours sucked especially once my kids came along.
got 2 kids - son 14 & daughter 10
Love football and a huge fan of the bombers. never played junior football started playing when i was 19 biggest achievments were a b&f in the reserves and 200 games had this season off due to kids sport commitments but planning a big 2013. always played backline and midfield in and under do the dirty work type player (code for not much talent ).
i also enjoy camping, fishing and beer carlton draught or hahn superdry my favorites but i like to try new stuff all the time.
favorite movie - the rock
favorite book- the record
looking forward to sc2013.
Love the idea and great to read a little more about everyone. I'm 31, live about 10km west of the city and at what i would consider as an interesting time of my life. I recently quit from my soul destroying job and am currently unemployed. I was a senior manager at a printing company but also come from a corporate background.
I'm on a bit of a health kick at the moment, trying to get in shape, eating healthier, quit smoking (and gluten) so feeling as good as i have in a while...apart from the fact i'm coming off a week of gasto
I was a top level junior footballer and cricketer. Captained both teams throughout my teenage years and represented the league most if not every year. Also played a couple of games in a western jets development squad but realised how much hard work was required and gave that up pretty quickly lol. Nowadays i sit on my ass and do not much so my new found love for health and fitness has come at a great time. I hack it up on the golf course every once in a while and don't mind shooting hoops as well.
im a male 41yo, married with 2 boys aged 4 and 6. I live in the south east suburbs of melbourne.
i am currently in sales working in the petroleum and mining industry and have been working in that industry for the past 15 yrs. i have the luxury of working from home. i sell petrol!
I played a lot of junior footy and was invited to train with Melbourne, which i didnt bother showing up, a regret that constantly comes up. I also played competitive cricket since under 12s but stopped after 20 odd years when my children were born. going back for a hit this year though! also my clubs 50th anniversary year.
I really love my cricket and am not ashamed to say it is my favourite pastime. i also like the horse racing and was lucky enough to win a golden slipper with my first horse (a 10% share...2003). A horse to follow for the spring....Hosting trained by Greg Eurell
I dont read much books but one that i usually pull out each year is one called the art of cricket by don bradman - such basic stuff but so relevant.
My favourite band is Radiohead and cant wait to see them when they play in melbourne!
Live down in sleepy hollow, Geelong, and love being out of the city.
I studied Computer Science/Software development straight out of school however in my last year i realised that was not the direction I wanted to take with my career so when i completed my degree I became an apprentice maintenance electrician in Industry. Really enjoy my job now and the people I work with.
I am married and have a 6 month old son who I cant wait till the time when he starts junior sports as sports has been/is such a large portion of my life. I have foxtel specifically to watch 7+ games each week and NBA for the rest of the year. Played footy as a junior, played tennis from 15 to 25, and have played basketball from 12 to now. Just lost my grand final by 1 point last night. Doh! Also currently training to run a half marathon and enjoy doing a few of the shorter fun runs during the warmer months.
Love a beer, any type, and enjoy trying new types. I try to keep a collection of one bottle of every beer I have tried. Lets just say that I struggle to display them all.
Cars are another big interest of mine, however rarely find the time to work on mine but still follow the scene and enjoy going to the shows (Queenscliff hot rod show, All Ford day etc) down my way
I am a 56 year old male, married with a daughter 28 and son 25. I am a public servant working for the Supreme Court..hence my team name, Courtesans. I have a beautiful grand daughter, Olivia born November 2015.
I am a golfer, which I love playing, off 15 these days..cant hit it too far any more, but it is my time out in life.
My interests, reading, philosophy, and any thing, person, activity, event that adds to my and my family's life.
As a web site that may interest some of you, I highly recommend 'The Art of Manliness' give it a look,.. you won't be disappointed, it is full of interest, with an American slant, but well wothe a visit.
I am woeful at statistical information, and I hate it. After many years as a public servant, I have heard and read too much about projections, milestones, kpi's, quick wins, work arounds et el.
I play this game for fun, want to finish first but.
Hey guys, big give away, but my name is Sam.
I'm 19, Male and as of this year I live in Melbourne.
I'm studying Aerospace Engineering at uni (Mainly so I can tell people I'm a Rocket Scientist ).
I love sport, it really doesn't matter what sport, I'll play it. Especially keen on footy, cycling, cricket, squash and indoor soccer.
Have never really been able to play footy competitively as I get soft tissue injuries easier than the bombers! I was pretty good as a junior, playing everywhere from the Ruck, CHB and off a wing however I've been focussing on cycling the last couple of years but I still make sure I have a kick fairly often.
I love my fantasy sport, mainly supercoach, also gave fantasy cycling a go this year, great fun.
I spend most of my spare time riding my bikes (I have 3), however i also enjoy reading a good book (anything by Vince Flynn, Wilbur Smith or Clive Cussler) listening to music (punk rock), watching a funny movie or playing computer games. A book I would recommend to everyone is 'it's not about the bike' by Lance Armstrong. Whatever your opinions about him or cycling in general it is a great read.
as far as supercoach I'm very much a statophile, although not quite in Rowsus' league
Hi all, David is the name, 39 years old (at least for a few more months). I live in Windaroo, QLD. About half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Project/Sales Manager for a Theatrical Audio, AV, Lighting and Staging company and like Jay it is only a 5 minute drive to work which is exactly the way i like it, would hate to drive an hour each way to work and back.
Hawthorn supporter. Lived a year in Melbourne when I was 6, my mates at school were Hawthorn supporters so I joined in. It made the 80's fun as my dad is a Don's man, apparently his principal at Stawall Tec was the Dons coach at some point probably early to mid 60's.
Married (punching well above my weight), 2 girls, 15 going on 22 and 10, + a dog. So the Estrigen count in 4:1 against me.
Enjoy watching and playing most sports, played junior cricket (i went in after the bowlers had been dismissed) and basketball which i was OK at.
Now I play golf (at least 6 times a year) but received a membership for fathers day so trying to get out every week or two at the moment, happy if i can average bogey golf for the round.
I love reading, Wilbur Smith, Dan Brown anything that has a good story. Also enjoy life changing books, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", it is often said that you are the result of the books you read and the people you associate with. If you hang around with turkeys you are never going to fly.
Social Drinker, love a good beer. Enjoy times with family, mine mostly and my wife's are nutter's most of the time.
Really enjoy this site, great work to all that contribute.
Sup guys I'm Tom, 31 from south east melbourne.
I'm a chef that obviously loves his food and does a lot of traveling around the globe.
Love sport afl, tennis and a HUGE fan of formula 1.
obviously a collingwood fan as you can tell by my profile pic lol.
This will be my 3rd year of supercoach but my first year of actually taking it serious and not just in a league with the boys
With an absolute glamour ATM which I intend to pop the question to very soon,
She's a doggies fan but that's her only downfall
We go to the footy alot together and she no's every collingwood player by number now lol.
But the best thing is she gets medalian clubs tickets for edihad and members seats for mcg for just about any game through work. In short she's a keeper lol
Fav movie would have to snatch and can't stop watching homeland ATM
Big fan of afl live on ps3
