SCS Name: Toxic
Came about as I used to manage a manufacturing business that dealt with a lot of nasty chemicals, I then purchased an 18ft skiboat, stripped it, painted it black and renamed it TOXIC

SCS Name: Spots
Spots came about from a game I used to play called Boom Beach, my name in that game was Stripey which was the name of a cat my wife & I had (pre kids). To be funny, other guys in the game would call me Spots and ultimately I preferred that moniker for my online activities. I'm an Eagles fan living on the NSW/VIC border and don't get to many games with a wife & 3 kids 8 and under... took the 2 girls last year to their first game and was hoping to get the youngest (now 4) to his first game this season... would've been a couple of weeks ago.. Saints v Eagles

Nic Nat is one of my favourites to watch on the field. Prior to this avatar I think I had the WEG poster from the 2006 GF, a day I'll never forget and although I well and truly overpaid to get tickets that day I don't give a stuff!

Yes some great courses up my way... sadly off limits...
If you live close to a NSW golf course, then you can play.

1 April 2020
This morning we were informed that the Office of Sport – NSW Government had reconsidered their decision and now allows courses to re-open.
It has been recognised golf is a valid way for people to go outside and exercise.

It's almost worth it to go home and tell my wife I'm going to play a round of golf this weekend just to see the look on her face after being stuck at home with three monsters all week! Think I'll play it safe though... ;)

Ooh Avatar meaning! Back in the eary 2000s I signed up to the Vogue magazine Aussie forums as "Beige Stallion" basically as a troll with a couple of lady friends using this avatar. I wasn't mean or anything. It's a long story but ultimatley the forum got shut down for a fortnight cos everyone lost their minds and I sold some T-Shirts with the stuffed horse on them with sayings like "Excuse my voice, I'm a little Horse". Also didn't get banned.

OK, about time I introduced myself properly.

As is obvious from my team name and sig I am a ghost of FFC. Unfortunately our members have dwindled over recent years and the site eventually disappeared at the start of 2020. Fortunately, there are still a few of us kicking around and few lurking here as well. I see you @wogitalia, @Shannon and @Athomas ! SCS is a cracking site and reminds me of the halcyon days of FFC.

I joined FFC after getting frustrated with the rubbish and abuse on BigFooty. I suspect that is a comment made by members here as well. I managed to give SC a decent nudge in 2013 and 2014 and owe those results to the members of FFC. I was sitting 2nd for a few weeks in the run home in 2014 but then crashed and burned in the final rounds. If you've ever seen those wobbly runners struggling to cross the finish line in a marathon, that was me in 2013 and 2014.

My team name is BigJennyTalia FFC and has been for close to 10 years. It's a little bit puerile and undergrad but it was worth it watching the Herald Sun struggling to publish the Top 5 each week in 2013/14. It went from BigJennyTalia FFC to BigJenny FFC to BJT FFC. My work was done. The $50k would have been nice but that was not to be and a worthy winner in @Dimmawit took home the chocolates.

The avatar I've been carrying for a while. As a ranga, I went looking for the rudest expression of Bomber red locks. Welcome Gary Moorcroft flat top.

I never played footy (properly) but love the game. I'm a (long) suffering Bombers fan but I really can't complain. The back to back GFs in '84 & '85 were a magical time for a kid growing up in Melbourne and I'll never forget the joy of hugging total strangers at games through the 1993 final series. Probably the last time that happened was 2009 ANZAC Day (Zaharakis!!!!!!!!) - that was as good as any granny.

SC is a hobby which has bordered on an obsession over the years. My wife will say it's always been the latter.

Thank you to everyone on here for making me feel welcome.

Heyo,
Been lurking around for years but never properly introduced myself.
I live on Kangaroo Island, work as a Park Ranger, an unashamedly one-eyed Power supporter and obviously a little partial to the odd bit of Monty Python.
Yeah like many across the country, have been impacted by fires but this isn’t a sob story.
On the contrary, fantasy sport is my happy place and this site (among a couple of select others) have kept me sane and alive over the years. I’m first to admit I’m a mediocre SCer at best but love the game to bits.
So many thanks to Jay and the insanely good contributors across the breadth of this place.
Hats off to you all.
Cheers

May as well follow suit from a fellow ghost!

Like the guys mentioned and a couple of others who lurk I believe, I'm a survivor from FFC and the great community we had there, unfortunately the forums we had fell victim to the plague that was 2020, well that and personal lives slowly claiming some of the best coaches around!

Like Wheedus I was invited over to FFC from BigFooty which I went to having already chewed my mates ears off looking for someone to talk fantasy football with, unlike Wheedus I actually started out as a DTer and that was my preferred format pretty much until 2014 when the AFL decided to turn to the darkside and with that the passion was channeled into SC.

2014 I managed to win a nice little prize for topping the WA rankings but was never really a chance at the overall. 2016 was my peak and but for two bad coin-flip results on my last two trades I'd have won the prize and, yes, I literally flipped the coin on them, oh how glorious it would have been to tell the tale of riding Nick Riewoldt's 187 in round 23 to first, alas I went down on the HMAS Tom Lynch instead! On top of that I'm the proud owner of a copy of AFL Monopoly from god knows what year that was the weekly prize in DT and I enjoyed my AFL Live pass subscription and a Sherrin as my weekly prize from AFL Fantasy in, I believe it was 2018. Perhaps my crowning fantasy achievement though was finishing top 20 in NRL DT despite not even watching a game

Along with any personal achievements it was always an honour winning the leagues in pretty much every format as a part of FFC through the years, the teamwork and support that went into achieving those was always great!

At the end of 2016 I headed overseas where I remained until 2020 when I came home and got trapped by the aforementioned plague of 2020... My results in that period haven't been as strong as they were when I watched almost every game (and enjoyed doing so!).

Nowadays I'd say I'm more focused on daily fantasy and I honestly think if it wasn't for SC and DF I'd probably not even watch football anymore, in a perverse way I don't really like the game anymore and it's almost the by-product of how much I like the fantasy game that comes with it. The meddling of AFL House and what they've done to the on-field product has just ruined it for me. It's not that I don't want to love it still, I just can't/don't. Sadly I have to say this goes for my other two main sporting loves in American Football (both NCAA and NFL) and the NBA only they don't even have the fantasy elements to save them, just a watered down product masquerading as the once great sports I fell in love with! Maybe this is a sign I'm getting old and the nostalgia has kicked in but I still love SC as much as I did when I first got the bug so I tend to think it's legitimate changes in the sports unfortunately and the paths they've all gone down seem almost irreversible at this point.

I basically picked the Swans as a team because I didn't like the Eagles or their fans in the early 90s and Paul Kelly played the game how it should be played and the colours were cool, how all great fanatics are created right?

I'm loving the new home I've found here and the high level conversations and hopefully they'll continue on for years to come :)

Following the lead of my FFC friends @wogitalia & @Wheedus, I really should properly introduce myself even though I have been posting on here regularly since last year on the RDT (I did a semi intro on there) & NFL threads.

I have been playing SC for a decade now, had a few top 500 finishes including a top 100 a long time ago - it was far less competitive & much less info readily available on the internet back then so guys like Corey Enright in defence & ROK in the forwards were underrated guns that were amazingly relatively unique which made higher finishes easier lol.

I was a super moderater on FFC (known as Bunga on there) for about 5 years & was responsible for turning Wogi into a SC player over DT (welcomed him to the dark side) ...:p well that’s my story & I am sticking to it lol.

Love my footy but like many I am a little disillusioned with the way things have changed/ the administration of the AFL especially. I have known Peter Worsfold (yes John’s brother) for a long time so was lucky enough to socialise with some of the WCE stars back in the day so easy choice of team for me.

Other sports I enjoy are cricket, ( NFL last few years), NBA & Golf. I was a decent golfer back in the day, played off a 3 handicap in my prime. These days about a 9 & have a group of guys that I go on a golf trip each year which I absolutely love - whilst we all like our golf we enjoy drinking & taking the piss out of each other even more lol.

Really enjoying the community created here, the quality of the postings here is first class along with the respect shown to everyone which is a real credit to the mods who run the show here.

As for my avatar ... very boring really, as soon as WCE drafted Shannon “Bunga” Hurn I quickly jumped on his bandwagon, in his prime that right leg of his was an absolute weapon, Watching him kick a footy live at training/ games you were just in awe of the power/ penetration that the footy would come of his foot. There was just a different sound & the footy would just travel through the air so much quicker than most.

Really looking forward to the 2021 season & the ongoing discussions leading upto round 1 - this is my favourite part of the season, hearing all the different viewpoints & theories people have. You need to have an open mind in the way you approach things in SC I have learned over the years. Another former FFC guy who I see posts here @Athomas always has a unique team that I used to used to question initially but after seeing how well his team would consistently perform it really opened my eyes that there are many different ways to approach this game.

Thanks again to everyone who made me feel welcome from the start & look forward to being a member of this forum for many years to come (y)

Great intro’s guys and it looks like you all have an impressive SC / fantasy pedigree. I’ve enjoyed reading your substantial volume of posts so far and luv what you have brought the forum. Welcome aboard and good luck for the season ahead 👍
Hear, hear.

@Shannon was a valuable addition to our NFL thread and will be instrumental next season in our aim of taking out the top league for the 4th time in the past 5 seasons.

Hey all,

Like a lot of others I’ve been lurking for a while and enjoying the discussion, but definitely think it’s time to (hopefully) contribute!

Have been an avid DTer for a decade or so (apart from 2020), but more recently have given a larger focus to SC.

In terms of credentials, they’re not great :giggle:, but almost hit the top 100 in DT back in its heyday, and managed a top-5 finish in that comp that Sportal ran for a couple of years a while ago. Aim this year is to beat my previous best of a 2k ranking, anything on top of that is just gravy.

In terms of the avatar, I love the old-style logos, and I love a bit of footy nostalgia.

Looking forward to what the season brings!

Cheers!

Well a few things have changed since 2012 :ROFLMAO:
1/ I'm 42 now (not sure how that changed so much )
2/ Kids are no longer kids (just wish they move out )

My Avatar - Well my Team name is Muppet F.C and started out as Maso's Muppets back in 2010 looking at my SC credentials it a very fitting name :ROFLMAO:, the 3 premiership cups refers to my Draft keeper league (7th season) im in with mates and i just completed the 3peat last year.

Have loved coming to this site for last decade and looking forward to the next decade (y)

Time to introduce myself

Funny to see 2014 as when I joined as I was hardly on this site until this year. FF member since 2013. Footywire and Tooserious for data.

61 yrs old, Worked in Mining industry overseas since around 2003 and in 2013 ended up in Panama and my boss was a mad Tigers supporter from Melbourne. He invited me to Supercoach league made up of expat Aussies and a bunch of Canadians. No fun losing to Canadians at your indigenous sport I can tell you. Been top of this league almost every year and only won once.

So after plenty of years of watching and following rugby (worked and lived in Africa and Sth Africa) and soccer (2010 World Cup when living in Joburg). Followed by NFL when based in Denver for a couple of year. I got back in to AFL.

Been a bombers supporter since I was 6 years old and hate Carlton with a passion and would not put the fire out on a Crows or Eagle supporter. Port and Freo are the real SA and WA football clubs.

6 Kids - 5 in QLD and 1 in Toronto. None follow the bombers. Bloody Lions and Hawks supporters.
Grew up playing footy in Latrobe Valley and West Gippsland. Love the country footy and still go to local games a few times a year. Briagalong, Cora Lynn, Thorpdale, small almost non existent towns that pretty much just have their football and netball clubs.

Since my first year in SC I play for overall with leagues as a bonus. Only cracked top 1000 once, normally around the 2k-3k mark. Generally start well and fall away as other teams get to Prem with more depth than me. So working on my trading and more GnR approach to the game. Also got to stop taking Gawn C when he scores 12 points. I am the worst C chooser in SC community.

Love the data, analysis, community and discussions around football. Made my overall enjoyment of AFL expand as the deeper knowledge of players and other teams and coaching tactics and patterns was shared and learned.

Finally guys like Rowsus, Impromptu etc on this site and recently Wogitalia (best write ups I have read anywhere) are much appreciated for sharing their knowledge, time and skills with us.

Pure Blonde drinker similar to Maso, as well as Keto.
