How do you get kicked out for being drunk? Nearly everyone in a pub is drunk? Maybe being a bad drunk?
Even that doesn't work, sometimes.
I remember standing at the bar, in the lounge bar of an upmarket hotel.
My friend, who was more than a little drunk, vomitted in the ash tray that ran the length of the bar, at floor level (back in the days, when you could smoke in pubs!). Just as he was finishing, I saw two tuxedo'ed bouncers marching in our direction. I thought "here we go, we're out of here". They stopped next to my friend, who was still doubled over, and one of them pointed at me, and with a grim look on his face said sternly "If he does that again, we are going to have to ask you to leave!". They turned, and walked back out of the bar again!
Responsible service of alcohol can see venues suffer financially if serving people that are clearly intoxicated.

Those were the "good old days" Rowan and I'm sure most of my vintage would have been there. Responsible Service of Alcohol then was get them pissed early and keep serving them until they run out of money.

lol

I remember years ago at my local the owners saying if they adhered to RSA they would have to cut off everyone after 3 drinks.

Their rule basically was if you fell off a chair or threw a chair they would kick.you out , otherwise keep serving you then drive me home 3 hours after they locked the doors.

Happy Days

What are people's thoughts on not starting Tom Mitchell?
Is he overpriced or is he the new Ablett/Pendles first picked number 1 mid?

Mitchell will hit the AFL's player's prime age this year, 26yo, so he should continue to score well.
By not starting with Mitchell, you could be losing some very high SC points that he is capable of getting.

He did just win a brownlow, so perhaps tough to ask him to be the best in the comp again, yeah you could say he's going to be cheaper........but jeez, can't reasonably foresee him not being top8, he is durable, he accumulates so many possessions that it would be tough to foresee an outsized priced fall at the time when you've got the cash and no other injury/selection issues to deal with. I think it'll cost you an extra trade to get this guy in a reasonable time, or a rookie and decent mid pricer like say a Hanners/Libba etc.

Good luck to those who don't start him, you are causing yourself a world of hurt. I'm just not sure he is 'god status' yet, so it's not compulsory to pick him, you just pick him. I think Danger still has that title locked up.

Pretty keen on Bont for a few reasons
- Still only 23 so in the zone for a 110+ breakout year after 4 years between 103-107. Only missed 5 games in last 4 years
- The last 3 games of the season he had his 3 highest possession games of the year. Could be learning to find the ball more or Beveridge realised to leave him in the middle
- Supercoach love child. Has averaged around 4.3 points per touch over the last 4 years which is elite compared to most mids. If he bumps his average touches up to 26-27 can definitely see a 115+ year. Had 7 games where he found the ball 24 times or more. Averaged 127 in these games with all but 1 of these being 120+ scores and 3 of them being losses.
- Don't know how the knew rules or Libbas return will affect him but at this stage he's in my side as my 5th midfielder but also weighing up Oliver, Merrett and a few others for the same spot
Oliver cannot be stopped, animal. Choose him.

In two minds about starting him. I wonder if JOM and Wingard step up to push Tom down to a 115 avg.

I might still start him if I can’t do anything else with the money saved by getting a Neale/MCrouch type.

Yeah I’m off him at the moment until I get a bit clearer of a view on how his shoulder has pulled up. ACs can be bloody nasty things to come back from.

I’ve got Macrae locked in and I’m not a big fan of starting all four of those 2 and Grundy/Danger at their hefty price tags.

Crouch is an interesting one, I started him last year and he was fairly disappointing before pinging his hammy so I’m a bit sheepish.

Think the Crows will do very well this season with the draw they’ve been handed and he loves racking up touches in relatively low pressure games.

Sloane is one I’m quite interested in too. If he looks to be over his foot problems he presents pretty good value at 520 odd thousand.

Mitchell had shoulder surgery immediately after winning the Brownlow.
He said on Monday that he is back in contact work and the shoulder is no longer a problem.

Been working with Sam Mitchell this preseason and we know what that did for WCs midfield (mostly Yeo and Redden). If he drops to a 120 average I'll still take it, I don't want him to be out of reach when I need to upgrade a midfielder.

Matt Crouch scored 105 (off 40 odd touches, but he can do better) and then had 50 just after quarter time before the Hamstring pinged in round 2. I also like Sloane, apart from last year he's actually been Pendlebury-esque less 10 points a year.

Sloane is very appealing at his price but he will get tagged and definitely struggles with that.

im thinking of sloane as well but his early draw doesnt look very good. he has the following:

hawks - i cant recall there stoppers name
syd - hewitt
cats - selwood if fit
north - jacobs

but in round 5 its opens up. crouch might benefit if sloane gets the attention. i am thinking of starting crouch or merrett at this point in time

Sloane in rd6 could be a tasty upgrade from a libba/miles type for minimal cash

What are the realistic chances that Walsh and Setterfield, could steal points from Cripps?. I mean a situation where it makes Cripps maybe not a viable option (doesn't score higher than Titch, Oliver, Kelly etc.)

Cripps is a beast, highest contested possession winner in the comp last year. 18 a game. That’s where all his points come from.

Watch Cripps push his own teammates off of the ball if it comes to that. The beast must eat!
