Going with 4 big guns with the double game plus Sarr & Flowers. I like Browne as a bit of a POD. I believe MEL have the best schedule over the first 5 rounds (4 DGRs) and SEM have 4/6. I like this lineup but the really cheap bench could be an issue. I do plan on cutting Cotton after round 1 so that should free up funds to jump on Denzel Valentine or someone similar.

Armstrong is an interesting one, obviously he will need to be traded out for rounds 3 & 4 as Cairns have byes over those rounds. Ideally id have someone like White but i have $7k in the bank so i cant upgrade him. If i do start him, hopefully he makes it worthwhile with a couple big scores - albeit on my bench.

50% of bench scores is an interesting twist. Just about takes C loopholing out of play and means depth will be important I assume.
I quite like it actually. Given depth is important, i may end up changing my team significantly. Like you said, it takes loops out of the equation which i also like.

I have no idea about basketball, but I have decided to set up a SC team this morning. I like the idea of having to navigate around a fixture with DGRs etc. so could be good warm up for BBL.
Fantastic to hear and also the perfect lead in to Sportsdeck NBA if you like your fixtures with teams either playing 1,2,3,4 or 5 matches in any given round.;)

I don’t know any players, unless Andrew Gaze still plays! So I will pull a team together based on the more popular owned players.
In terms of rookie priced/value players, then the Next Stars program should provide a great source.

Made a fixture table. Not flashy but should be good enough. Key at the bottom. Let me know if you spot any errors or things you want added.
View attachment 60952
Initial notes:
  • MEL have a great start with 4 DGRs in the first 5
  • BRI and SEM have 4 DGRs in the first 6
  • CNS and NZL have only 5 games in the first 5
  • CNS have 8 DGRs in 9 rounds after the byes (R5-13)
  • ILL finish with 5 DGRs in last 6, only 1 DGR in rounds 6-14
  • ADL has 1 DGR between rounds 5-12
Fixture table for reference and doubles/byes per round could be added as a non selectable poll.

Depth charts are extremely helpful in the basketball and NFL formats and wish we could have an equivalent for AFL. Should help to identify cheap options, if preseason form and minutes are sustainable depending on the outs, etc.

South East Melbourne has acted swiftly in securing a replacement for injured import Alan Williams with an ex-NBA big man to join the Phoenix.
Former Chicago Bull Tyler Cook, 25, will fill the enormous shoes left by Williams, who faces months on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during a training session last week.

With 203cm, 120kg Williams moved to SEM’s inactive list ahead of surgery on Monday, Cook jetted out of the US on Saturday, and it is hoped he’ll feature at the pre-season NBL Blitz, which tips off Saturday evening.

“I’ve heard plenty about the NBL and I really think that it’s a great opportunity for me and my basketball,” Cook, who plays for Utah Jazz G League affiliate Salt Lake City Stars, said.

“As soon as (Phoenix chief executive) Tommy (Greer) got in touch, I was pretty quickly sorting flights out.

“I’m really looking forward to linking up with (coach) Mike (Kelly) and the rest of the squad.

“I’m coming in with the sole focus to get wins.”

Cook, the same height as Williams, is set to play as a similarly undersized five-man with a wide frame at 116kg.

He’ll be leaned on to provide a stopgap for the Phoenix without the NBL’s reigning leading rebounder.

Another iteration
After reading a few things, here's my thinking

Tossing up between
Creek + Sarr, or
Pinder + Cadee

Here I have Pinder F1 + Cadee C2
with the thoughts of trading out Pinder + Cotton C1, giving options to bring in two
DBL DGR players RD2, aiming for the F1 and F2 spots.
I'll flick Travers down to G3 and playing Flowers + Cadee onfield
Swapping Hukporti + Hunter based on fixtures over the first 5 or so rounds.

Still a long way off. Sarr is very interesting

Perth Wildcats young gun Ben Henshall is looming as one of the most exciting players to watch in NBL24, following a series of impressive performances across pre-season.

After scoring a combined 26 points against the NBA’s G-League Ignite team over the weekend, Henshall backed up with perhaps his strongest effort yet – 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals against Overtime Elite on Monday, Australian time.

With Bryce Cotton, Tai Webster, Keanu Pinder, Jesse Wagstaff and Jordan Usher all rested, it was the Centre of Excellence product’s chance to shine.

In all, he played 25 minutes in the Wildcats’ 91-64 victory in Las Vegas, as they capped off a 2-1 winning record across the team’s US trip.

On Sunday, Perth coach John Rillie was full of praise for the 19-year-old.

"Oh man, I love that kid," he said.
"We had him in last year just to practice and there's something about him. He has a chance to be special.
"Now everyone else is starting to realise that he's quite a good player. Where he gets to, we'll find out and it might take him a couple of years.
"He's certainly got some tools that get the NBA people excited, and myself of course."

Another emerging talent, Michael Harris, also enjoyed valuable minutes and continues to show the Perth coaches what he can do.

Harris finished with 20 points and six rebounds, across 31 minutes of action.

After missing the FIBA World Cup with the Tall Blacks, Corey Webster was back to his best, with 15 points in just 11 minutes of court-time.

Development player Dontae Russo-Nance also showed what he’s capable of, with the New Zealand talent grabbing 15 points, four rebounds and four assists, across 22 minutes, and finishing with a +/- of plus-30.

Next Star Alex Sarr played 18 minutes, scoring nine points, having previously played two seasons at Overtime Elite.

Sounds good for Henshall!
