Yeah, the breaking is not for me. Think it's not returning next Olympics, I won't miss it.

Not sure if anyone saw the Refugee athlete in the preliminary match. Don't think what she did will go down well: she was wearing a cape with the slogan "Free Afghan women" which she revealed mid battle.

Yeah the IOC, much like other international sporting organisations, tend to take a rather dim view of these things...

Five minutes of the breakdancing was enough to satisfy my curiosity, but I think I'll be leaving that one well alone.

Now I’m fairly progressive as a person, but I cannot understand how this was ever considered as a sport!
Ballroom dancing, Disco, to name some other dancing routines, how was this ever considered before them!
I remember the kids, those from my own generation, using cardboard boxes, the boom boxes, doing break dancing in the school library foyer back in the day, a fad that wouldn’t last I thought! A discipline that was superseded by ra dancing within a few years, or so I thought!
Having seen the Australian Rep tonight a lady of 36 competing against 16 year olds! It did not look pretty!
The American lass against her looked the goods, from my fading memory of those distant school days!

Checked in to the weight lifting tonight, 2 things I think should change.
1 don’t bring out the curtain like they do in horse racing, thats not a good look!
I thought they were going to shot a competitor!
2 bring back Darrel Eastlake, if there was ever a commentator to bring the sport off the canvas it was him, the excitable man never let us down, unfortunately it was harder than I thought to find some content!

As much as Thorpey is a true legend of swimming, his commentary leaves a bit to be desired, not sure if he has a terminally muffled mic or if it's just his mumbly voice but I find him difficult to hear clearly, also regarding the commentary, it's quite funny how unprofessional it all has been so far, multiple commentators talking over eachother, several episodes where they're all talking amongst themselves not even realising they're on the air! I was just waiting for some bad inappropriate joke or racist comment to appear. lol
When hes not talking in a weird tone to the point you can't understand a word hes saying its just pure meaningless waffle, good athlete but absolute bottom of the barrel commentary wise.

Watching the diving. Need to turn the commentary off though. Mark Taylor? Nah. And the other guy in his Kripke voice is just twiggering me.
I don’t mind them. Mark Taylor has been comparing scores against the same dives in earlier rounds and also informing the scores required to reach semis, reach finals, get a medal, move up etc. That is not something I have heard in diving commentary before and I find it helpful.

I was around when Breakdancing was first a thing and I think I could've done better than "Raygun", that looked like 3 different kids competing against their Mum, who had an epileptic fit in the middle of her routine, absolutely bizarre how she ever made it to the Olympics at all.
The constant yawning and shaking the head as if to say, "you suck" to the others was embarrassing, almost as embarrassing as her moves

I just like that we finally have an Aussie we can compare to Eddie the Eagle or Eric the Eel - I didn't ever expect that would happen. Three 18-0 results in a row is bad enough, but the talent/style gap to everyone else was huge. I am actually happy the breaking was included now, despite it being rubbish. Guessing she only got in for inclusivity reasons to have an Oceania representative, but it is a bit surprising that is the best we can offer.

Love the memes that have come from it anyway.

Hahah yeah I remember watching Eddy the Eagle, classic stuff, think he was meant to be a joke but don't think Raygun was, she actually beat 13 other people to be there.
I'm enjoying the B-Boy Breaking at the moment, some serious talent there, if you like that sort of thing, the final should be good.
I'll have to check those Memes out

Also regarding the Breaking, why did the female and male competitors from Australia both have to dress like One Day Cricketers?
So many cool outfits they could've chosen from.
