Why did he quit during the season on his club and now wants to coach a different club?....I would've thought if he's coming back to coaching, why not back to Richmond after the break that he must've needed?
I had the same thoughts, @Russty_ . However, two things let me move on from this. 1) Dimma was a huge part in giving us 3 premierships (something I thought was near impossible), and 2) We probably will benefit from a new coach. So, I’m content to say thank you and good luck to Damien.

Down to 2 now :-

The Richmond coaching job is down to two with Andrew McQualter and Adem Yze shaping as the leading contenders for the role.

The Tigers are understood to be reaching the final stages of their process to find the full-time successor for Damien Hardwick.

Essendon assistant Daniel Giansiracusa, Hawthorn assistant Chris Newman and Richmond assistant Xavier Clarke had also been on the Tigers' coaching shortlist but are understood to no longer be part of the process.

Thank you for the update, @Shannon. I appreciate it.

Appreciate Mini for taking over during a big of a topsy-turvy season, but I'm really hoping we take a punt on Yze.

I think McQualter is too much of Dimma incarnate and we're trying to usher in a new era of Tigers since the 6-6-6 and the stand rule killed that kind of chaotic, frenetic gamestyle we had.

Was also thinking that Newman was in the hot seat for it, so definitely a little disappointed to hear that he's no longer in the running at all.
I’m thinking a lot like you, @HimothyTaranto. I’m sure that Mini would be a fine coach, but I’d love to bring in new ideas. I would be happy with Yze and a few new assistant coaches.

Interesting timing. I wonder if they all-but know who the head coach will be.
They probably do. I’ve read elsewhere thoughts that if Mini McQualter were to be appointed it probably would have already been announced, and that the reason why Yze hasn’t been appointed yet is because of his current club commitments. I agree with this.

I think that X Clarke and A McQualter will depart Richmond and that A Yze will be announced as our new coach after the finals have ended.

Yeah Miss B that's definitely something to bank in a positive way, when I think of what Ross has done for the Saints, he 'almost' got us 2 premierships, close but no cigar!

The West Coast Eagles have today advised five players that they will not be offered contract extensions into 2024.

The club has informed midfielders Xavier O’Neill, Greg Clark and Connor West, forward Isiah Winder and utility player Samo Petrevski-Seton that their time at the club has been completed.

O’Neill, drafted with pick 28 in 2018, played 39 games while Clark played 21 games in the last two seasons after being recruited with the club’s final draft selection (#62) in 2021.

West, the son of former player Robbie, arrived via the 2021 mid-season rookie draft and played 28 games.

Petrevski-Seton arrived at the Eagles courtesy of a trade from Carlton at the end of 2021 and played 27 games while Winder, pick 57 in the 2020 draft, played seven games at senior level.

"On behalf of the club I would like to thank each of the players for their contributions during their varying times at the club," General Manager Football Gavin Bell said.

"They have each left an impression on the club and we wish them every success in their future endeavours."

Wouldn’t think so, of course we will never know, but those 3 are hardly household names. All would be happy to be offered a new contract. Much easier to stay than be churned over. Whether the prospective coaches (Yze and McQualter, to name a few) had any influence on list management, do they discuss those sort of things during the interview process?
I’d think McQualter along with the other coaches and list management would've made decisions on those players.
