You would expect so... for the same reason you don't see anyone requesting to be traded to the weaker VIC clubs either, they need to rely on Free Agency and even then with heaps of cash to splash around cant attract quality players...
It could also be that he has a particular dislike for someone at Freo.. who knows and who cares, it doesnt matter

Absolutely we can have different opinions. No problem with that at all.
Not questioning Kelly's worth, (Have never said we should get him for anything other than a fair price for that matter) Just how the outrage definitely seems more when West Coast is involved at times. What was the difference when a contracted Dramafield wanted a trade home to Geelong to be near family... No outrage at all when he noninated just 1 club out of 10 Victorian clubs. He was an even bigger name than Kelly yet no outrage like there has been in Kelly's case.

Hear, Hear. With the emergence of social media, etc the "Everyone seems to think the other side of the conversation is discounting their point of view " has featured very prominently but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I don't see the need to have everyone constantly in agreeance or the need to try and sway others.
Would be interesting to hear the thoughts on a hypothetical situation regarding a QLD player at another state (Vic, Sa, etc) utilising the same situation with T Kelly except replacing WC with Brisbane and Fremantle with Gold Coast.

His situation is pretty unique. Being that he got drafted alot later than most players do, His window to achieve success is a lot shorter.
West Coast are in a Premiership window right now also having won the Premiership last year. Freo are very much rebuilding and losing even more quality players like B.Hill & Langdon this off-season. Also have no coach at the moment nor a CEO and their direction at this point in time is not clear. Not to say they won't turn it around because they definitely will (but how long that takes compared to walking straight into West Coast is unclear), West Coast is definitely the more attractive club at the moment.
Have no doubt Freo could offer more money than West Coast, and will likely have better picks to offer, But as I outlined earlier, Kelly has a closer connection to West Coast considering the work we put into him.
He had a few options last year, Ask for a trade (which he did) or sign a longer deal. Once he decided he wanted a trade... He chose to ask to go to West Coast. We tried to do a deal and offered what looked like a fair deal, but like I said before, I think Geelong would have refused any deal, trying to keep a gun player on their list at a bargain basement price.
The situation is different this year as he is now out of contract and can leave via the draft if Geelong want to continue playing silly buggers. I do think a deal will get done though but I wouldn't be surprised if the AFL have to get involved via mediation.
West Coast is a very fair club to deal with trade wise historically, and Geelong up until this case has generally been as well.

No offence mate but this is just some state vs state mentality rubbish. Personally, my only thoughts about the Tim Kelly saga are...
Geelong poached him from under the Eagles nose, so Geelong must have known that there was a possibility he'd return home at some point.
Geelong still gave Kelly the chance to shine and although I don't think he owes the club the world lol, it would have been nice if he had agreed to play up the Freo angle to give the cats some ground on which to bargain.
So sick of supporters on both sides talking up his family situation as if they actually care, if he was a dud player no one would be screaming FAMILY SUPPORT! from rafters in every sentence where his name is mentioned.
He is a good player, he will get back home, no dramas. W.A people always playing the victim card is getting rather tiresome across many issues.

In a perfect world this works but the players are real people, they get drafted by teams in different states, different regions and most don’t get the luxury of retiring at 30... the general population gets to pick their employer, but because they’re a footballer they have to simply accept what they get for their whole career?
