I feel like Tom Browne is the only one shocked by this, rumour has been going around for ages that Finlayson was leaving and that a SA team was the destination...

FOUR SWANS RE-SIGN, FOUR DELISTED AS OFF-SEASON MOVES CONTINUE
BY NIC NEGREPONTIS 36 MINUTES AGO

Sydney has re-signed a quartet of players, including top five draftee Dylan Stephens.

Stephens was linked with a reported move out of the club as the Swans dealt with a salary cap squeeze, but he has recommitted for a further two seasons.

Sydney has also re-signed Hayden McLean, Robbie Fox and Will Gould.

McLean for two seasons, while Fox and Gould for one further year.

The Swans still have a number of out of contract players to consider, including George Hewett, Sam Wicks, Colin O’Riordan and Sam Reid.

They recently locked in co-captain Luke Parker on a lengthy contract as well.

Sydney has also delisted first-round pick Matthew Ling, former Port forward Sam Gray, former Hawk Kaiden Brand and Malachy Carruthers.
Silver lining of losing Hewett and Dawson to keep Stephens, kid could be a genuine star, next step is someone convincing Horse to actually play him...

Still another genuinely dreadful o***eason in the Harley era where horrible cap management seems to be the goal. Just waiting to take extreme unders on Dawson and Hewett as well, heck with our recent trade history I'm waiting for us to pay clubs to take them...

Puzzling stuff... Our CEO comes out on the radio and says we are not offering him a new contract, will look to deal him, but that there has been little interest... and that he will look for a new club via the draft if all else fails.

C'mon Nisbett, at least say you are working through things and a decision is yet to be made. Now you have blown our hand and we will receive nothing for a former pick 13 that has a fair bit of talent and 4 years experience.

This will go down as one of the biggest drafting stuff-up's in our clubs history.

We had pick number 13 earmarked for Oscar Allen in the 2017 draft, but creamed ourselves when Brander was still available. Then took Allen at pick 21 and the rest is history. We got jumped by Geelong with our next pick and they took Tim Kelly at 24 who we'd earmarked for our pick 26.

2 years later we hand over 2 full years worth of picks to trade for Kelly... and Brander looks done as an Eagle.

Has set our list management back massively.

Taz has been a great servant of the club, but if he can find some glory in his twighlight years at another club best of luck to him.

We're clearly entering a rebuild phase: should try and get a pick or a young player in return to help us on our path: win/win for everyone
He's a free agent, so we'll get nothing and like it.

An Alastair Clarkson backflip is all that stands between Michael Voss getting the Carlton senior coaching job.
Sources have confirmed Voss is the panel’s preferred option over highly-rated Richmond assistant Adam Kingsley and Essendon assistant Daniel Giansiracusa. The club also sounded out Tigers assistant Andrew McQualter, who is a favourite of Ross Lyon.
As he has been since David Teague was sacked, Clarkson is the ace in the pack. He will be a guest on Fox Footy’s AFL 360 on Monday night alongside Damien Hardwick.

President Luke Sayers’ acquisition of Cook from Geelong – which prompted him to claim Carlton “IS a destination club” on Twitter – has given the club leverage to ask the question one more time. If Clarkson responds with no, Voss is their man and could be unveiled before the Grand Final.

BRISBANE ruckman Archie Smith has retired after eight seasons with the Lions.
Smith, 26, told Brisbane last week he was seeking a fresh start, but called time on his career via social media on Monday night.
WHO'S CALLED IT QUITS 2021's retirements and delistings
"I’ve been sitting on this for a long time now, but perspective, priorities and the importance of wellbeing have led me to the right choice," Smith said.

Carlton has confirmed midfielder Sam Petrevski-Seton has requested a trade to the West Coast Eagles.

The 23-year-old has shown glimpses of his potential while at the Blues but has struggled to hold down a role in Carlton’s best team, being dropped on multiple occasions this season and also played out of position at times.

He is out of contract but does not yet qualify for free agency, meaning the Eagles would need to trade for the young Blue if they want to acquire his services.

The former number six draft pick played 94 games with Carlton, including 13 in 2021, averaging 15 disposals a game.

Carlton’s head of football Brad Lloyd confirmed the request on Tuesday.

“Sam has officially requested a trade: we will now work with the West Coast Eagles Football Club and Sam’s management to finalise the deal,” he said in a club statement.

Would love him at WCE

Maybe we can work out a trade involving Brander for this to happen - 2 talented young first round picks that have not been managed well at their respective clubs.

Brander for SPS straight swap... Both players would get a fresh start.

Make it happen.
