In the mix!

ADELAIDE
It's hard to see Don Pyke making any unforced changes for Friday night's huge clash with Geelong at Simonds Stadium. The Crows have roared back to form in the past fortnight with massive wins against the Brisbane Lions and Fremantle. Midfielder/forward Jonathon Beech continues to knock down the door with another impressive game for the Crows in the SANFL. The 26-year-old had 31 possessions, took eight marks and booted three goals in his side's 74-point win against North Adelaide. Defender Kyle Cheney, who played all 24 games for the Crows last year, continues to work his way back from injury, taking some strong intercept marks. Half-forward Riley Knight (19 disposals) had a solid game in his return from a glute injury. Midfielder Jordan Gallucci – who debuted against the Lions in round nine - was the emergency for last weekend's 100-point win against Fremantle and didn't play in the SANFL. - Lee Gaskin

COLLINGWOOD
Pending the fitness of Fremantle giant Aaron Sandilands, the Magpies could recall Mason Cox to help Brodie Grundy in the ruck at Domain Stadium on Sunday. With no VFL being played at the weekend due to a state-league representative game, Cox and several others didn't get the chance to press their claims, but those in contention include defenders Henry Schade and Jackson Ramsay, midfielders Callum Brown and Josh Thomas, and forwards Ben Crocker and ex-Docker Chris Mayne, the latter being at long odds to face his former club. - Ben Collins

ESSENDON
The Dons should welcome back ruckman Matthew Leuenberger after he missed last week's loss to Richmond with illness, although Tom Bellchambers did have 40 hit-outs in his place against the Tigers. Ben Howlett keeps on putting up his hand for senior selection with strong VFL form, and had 36 disposals last week in the Bombers' defeat to Richmond's VFL side. Defender Patrick Ambrose is expected to be available for this weekend's clash with Greater Western Sydney after missing the past month with a quad strain, while Aaron Francis could get a look-in. Martin Gleeson, Ben McNiece and Kyle Langford are other Bombers who may be considered for a senior recall. - Callum Twomey

FREMANTLE
There are no guarantees that giant ruckman Aaron Sandilands will be back from hamstring tightness in time for Sunday's clash with Collingwood, and draftee Sean Darcy could come under consideration for a debut if the Dockers decide to head down a youth path after their 100-point shellacking from Adelaide. Ed Langdon could also return from a sore knee. There was a WAFL bye at the weekend due to the state game against Victoria, however mature-age draftee Luke Ryan was knocking on the door before the week off and could earn a spot across half-back, while first-year talls Griffin Logue and Brennan Cox have also been in strong form in Peel's backline. Tommy Sheridan was dropped after the Western Derby in round five and is another of the younger brigade who could get a look-in if Ross Lyon swings the selection axe. - Travis King

GEELONG
With Adelaide's multi-pronged forward line, defender Tom Lonergan is likely to return after being managed against Port Adelaide, while Tom Ruggles is available if they want to further change their backline. Nakia Cockatoo will be tested after hurting his hamstring against the Western Bulldogs two weeks ago, while Rhys Stanley missed that game with an ankle but should be available. With the VFL state game on the weekend, he was unable to press his claim for a call up but remains a chance if they want to mix things up against Sam Jacobs – a player he's had success against previously. Forward Wylie Buzza is another possibility, with his VFL form this season pushing him closer towards an AFL debut. - Jennifer Phelan

GOLD COAST
After missing the loss to Melbourne at the weekend, Gary Ablett will return to take on West Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday. Ablett aggravated a shoulder injury against Port Adelaide in round eight and failed to recover in time to play the Demons. Providing there are no mishaps at training this week, the champion midfielder will resume his place in the Suns' line-up. First-year player Jack Bowes was rested last weekend and will return, while Matt Rosa is also a chance to return after missing a month with concussion. - Michael Whiting

GWS
The Giants might get some relief on the injury front for Saturday's clash with Essendon, with Tom Scully (knee), Steve Johnson (knee) and Rory Lobb (groin) all some chance of resuming. However, given the way his team played against West Coast, coach Leon Cameron might not be making too many changes. Scully was a late withdrawal from Sunday's win over the Eagles with minor knee soreness, but he's expected to train at Wednesday's main session and be right to face the Bombers. Johnson has struggled with his knee issue all year, so his availability will depend on how he's recovered from the week off, while Lobb has been sore for 2-3 weeks and missing the trip to Perth would have helped him a lot. Both men would benefit from another week off, so it would be no surprise if they were left out for another game. Tendai Mzungu has trained for the past fortnight after recovering from a serious hamstring injury, so he could be a chance to play in the NEAFL, but could need another solid week on the track to get ready. - Adam Curley

HAWTHORN
There won't be many changes at selection this week at Hawthorn after the stirring six-point win over the Sydney Swans last Friday. But the Hawks are facing another six-day break and another interstate trip and they might make some changes for the Port Adelaide game to freshen the side a bit. Important defender Grant Birchall has played just three games this year because of a jaw fracture and then a medial ligament and is rated a chance to return. The Hawks might also look at Billy Hartung for some extra outside run at Adelaide Oval, which is a different shape to the SCG, and perhaps Will Langford if they need more inside grunt against a team that always brings the heat. - Ashley Browne

NORTH MELBOURNE
Brad Scott made the Andrew Swallow situation crystal clear post-game on Sunday. Swallow – and not Jed Anderson or Declan Mountford – will get first dibs if a midfield spot pops up, like one did with Trent Dumont's concussion in round nine. There may be another opening, depending on how Sam Gibson's back pulls up, although Swallow, who turns 30 on Friday, plays a different role. Mountford impressed again in a VFL practice match, after a fortnight off serving as the senior match-day emergency and Ben Jacobs played his third game back from a long-term foot injury. Mitch Hibberd also got some extended midfield time in, while first-year dasher Josh Williams should get his chance soon enough. Ruckman Braydon Preuss showed off his strong hands in attack as he continues to push his case. Majak Daw and Sam Durdin are among the Roos' other tall options in reserve. Rookie Cameron Zurhaar was a strong performer in the practice game and could be promoted, with Paul Ahern on the long-term injury list. - Marc McGowan

PORT ADELAIDE
The Power might be inclined to recall experienced forward Angus Monfries for Thursday night's clash with Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval. Monfries had another quality game in the SANFL last weekend, kicking three goals and having 17 possessions as the Magpies defeated Central District by 39 points. Monfries missed all of last season serving a 12-month ASADA suspension from the 2012 Essendon supplements saga. Defender Dan Houston – who played the first seven games of the season for the Power before being dropped for the trip to Shanghai – showed his worth with 20 disposals and eight marks across half-back, while fellow defender Riley Bonner (21 disposals) was also impressive. Forward Aidyn Johnson – who made his debut against Carlton in round five – kicked two goals and had 10 possessions. Mature-aged recruit Brett Eddy booted four goals as he continues to try and get himself back in the senior side. - Lee Gaskin

RICHMOND
Half-forward Ben Lennon has booted three goals in each of his past two games and was strongly considered for the Dreamtime clash. If the Tigers make changes for Saturday's match against North Melbourne, it is likely to be in attack, where Lennon can bring an aerial presence that has been lacking in recent weeks. Small forward Dan Butler is also in line to return after missing two matches with groin soreness. Jason Castagna (three goals in five games) could be due for a rest, with Sam Lloyd (one goal against the Bombers) the other forward vulnerable at selection. Midfielder Anthony Miles racked up 35 possessions in the VFL but will find it hard to break in, while defender Jake Batchelor was named best on ground in the Tigers' state league win. - Nathan Schmook

WEST COAST
Star forward Josh Kennedy is irreplaceable, but Adam Simpson at least has reasonable options up his sleeve to cover for the injured spearhead. Upgraded rookie Fraser McInnes might come back into contention – to play in attack and/or allow Drew Petrie to spend more time forward. Young defender Tom Barrass or 2014 club champion Eric Mackenzie could also be recalled to stand the Suns' tall timber and free-up Jeremy McGovern to be swung forward. The Eagles will be sweating on the fitness of Luke Shuey (calf) and Mark LeCras (hip) ahead of their trip to Gold Coast. Sharrod Wellingham (ankle) might also be available after missing the loss to GWS. - Travis King

Before trades:

B: T Adams, Laird, H Shaw, Stewart, EVW and (Newman I am trading)
M: Dangerfield, T Mitchell, J Selwood, Fyfe, SPP, Myers, Balic (very unlikely back this week)
R: Witts, Preuss?
F: T Greene, Ryder, Taranto, A Black?

If Black , Preuss and Myers all play I can probably hobble together 18 on field with trading Newman on his bye.
At this stage cash generation is my biggest priority. Still feel behind on that front but some decent weeks from Hannan and Taranto recently and trading SPS at his highest profit point on weekend is giving me some hope that if I be patient on guys like Fisher, Hayward, Balic and Myers I could make some ground up on those areas. A bye for Hayward to refresh for return post-bye may see him surprise with goods scores in similar way Hannan done recently. He looks talented to me so if they stick with him I would think a good score or two can still happen for him. Myers I feel less bullish on now. If he is dropped on weekend I probably got to trade.
