Smith to Zerrett isn’t looking all that productive for this round. Typical Zerrett buzzing around but not really winning many hard balls.
Still beats owning Smith though. That missed chest mark at the start of the 3rd quarter probably cost Essendon any chance they had at the game. He’ll probably get a pretty average score even after two early goals.

Only 7 frees for Cripps, nowhere near enough, umpires had a shocker...
More frees paid in the first game tonight than this one, in fact in all games this round. 46, 39, 45 in the first three, 34 so far in this one. Guess umpires have been instructed to pay more frees this round?
Edit: looking back numbers seem about on par with the last few rounds. Bombers do seem to have been punished by the umps more this game, can't disagree.
